@havananana No, I finished work 2 weeks ago so have been chilling out on mat leave since! I am trying to make the most of it but am getting a little bit bored now.... hopefully won't be too much longer! Glad you are enjoying having the time to relax Smile Might try and do some date nights this week like go to the cinema as we won't be able to do that when baby is here!

iratepirate · 05/03/2023 15:32

Getting fed up of waiting here, even though I’m not yet 40w.
We went to the coast yesterday to see friends and a long walk along the beach, which was lovely for getting some fresh air. Always helps me to feel more grounded.

Rainbowbaby23 · 05/03/2023 15:37

I think I have tried just about everything to evict this baby😂 long walks, baths with clary sage oil, clary sage oil in a diffuser about the house, hot curries, vigorous cleaning, exercise ball, he just does not want to budge, I will cry if I’m not even dilated at my appointment on Thursday 😂

iratepirate · 05/03/2023 16:04

Yeah, @Rainbowbaby23 I know the feeling. Swapped my desk chair for the exercise ball a few weeks back and it’s so much comfier to sit on: May well keep it there anyway for the future.

LifeOfRiley1 · 05/03/2023 18:15

@Blondewave congratulations and thank you for the reassurance! I have my section booked and am feeling pretty apprehensive.

allllll positive c-section stories more than welcome right now 😂

BabyLimey · 05/03/2023 18:26

Anyone else feeling like their baby just isn’t gonna come out? 😂 I don’t think I’ve had any kind of pre/early labour signs and feels like they’re going to stay in there forever (appreciate that’s dramatic)

Moonicorn · 05/03/2023 18:31

12 days until my induction date 🥵 I feel pretty huge now and don’t fancy getting any bigger so I’m happy the end is in sight!

Last scan is week on Tuesday and I feel even more nervous about that to be honest, I just want an idea of size so I can firm up my birth plan and know what to expect.

Getting my hair done tomorrow which will be a nice treat and make me feel better about the imminent photos 😂 was taken for a meal yesterday by my sisters who had put together a lovely box of baby gifts which was a really nice surprise. Lots of cute little dungarees!

Has anyone else kept their baby name secret? Family keep pushing for a name but I just can’t tell them! Not because I’m secretive but because I feel once I say it I won’t be able to change my mind (don’t think I will), plus I don’t want to get bored of hearing about it before he’s even here!

I’m getting loads of braxton hicks, random cramps, baby feels very low but only 35+2 so I know it’s very likely not a sign of anything. Would be such a treat to go into natural labour at 36+6 and skip the pessaries entirely!

Dreamingof3 · 05/03/2023 18:33

@Moonicorn we haven't actually picked a name yet 😅 and actually never commit to one before we've had the baby anyway, but I wouldn't tell people even if we had, just because I don't really want opinions on it and also like you said, feel like you then can't change your mind! When people ask just say you aren't sure yet

Shep21 · 05/03/2023 18:39

@Moonicorn We have our name picked out and set (a couple of items have been ordered with her name on), but refusing to tell family. Both sides are very pushy and almost being funny that we haven’t said anything! I personally love announcements of babies’ births with date, time, weight and name, so that’s my plan! Plus no negatives from anyone if they aren’t keen or not what they expected!

iratepirate · 05/03/2023 18:43

We haven’t shared names with anyone either. Never do.

ToffeeEl · 05/03/2023 18:53

We've got a name picked but not 'set in stone' kind of thing, but it's been the only name we've both liked so it's likely to stay. We have told people and my mother really really doesn't like it, and offers alternatives constantly, but she's been the only person to say so.

I knew she wouldn't be keen so hadn't planned on bringing it up, but my partners got a big old gob and was too excited 😭😂

Newmumma516789 · 05/03/2023 18:54

@LifeOfRiley1 I had a cesarean with my first it was actually an emergency after not a great labour but I couldn't fault my recovery. I've not had a vaginal delivery so can't compare, but I was up shuffling about within a few hrs I even had a shower on the ward at the hospital before being discharged. I was surprised at no pain relief being prescribed but I kept to the paracetamol/ibuprofen back to back as advised and wasn't in any significant pain. I remember the worst part a few days later when someone made me laugh and it was a proper tummy laugh and I thought my stitches would tear open. I was back to walking (short walks) the dog daily after the first week or so.

I actually found the recovery so good I have opted for an elective cesarean this time, booked for the 9th March.

Tips: take it easy don't push yourself, avoid getting up and down lots to avoid using stomach muscles, get walking the more mobile you are the quicker you recover, stay on top of pain relief, take laxatives or similar straight away, prep everything you need to be at the right height for when your home like sanitary products being within reach of the toilet etc.

Hope that helps.

LifeOfRiley1 · 05/03/2023 19:09

Thank you so much @Newmumma516789 - really appreciate hearing about your experience! I have an online class tomorrow that talks you through the procedure step by step so I’m hoping to feel more confident after that too. I hope your experience 2nd time round is just as positive as your first 🤞🏼💕

havananana · 05/03/2023 19:23

@BabyLimey youre due day before me and I feel the opposite - every night I go to sleep and think it's going to be tonight 😂😂😂
But nothing so far

JB2021 · 05/03/2023 19:34

Strange question. I'm a FTM. Planning my coming home outfit and have bought myself a new hoodie! My bump isn't massive, once baby is here, does bump just go?! Trying to decide which size hoodie to get!!!!

Moonicorn · 05/03/2023 19:38

You’ll look about 4-5 months pregnant for at least a few days after and probably more like a few weeks. Your stomach goes all weird and saggy and pointed 😂 stretchy leggings and a baggy hoodie will be fine - that’s what I’ve packed. I would just order 1 size bigger than your usual!

Franklin321 · 05/03/2023 19:41

@LifeOfRiley1 Im 4 days post planned section, had an emergency one 2 years ago with my son…the recovery from this one which was planned is so so so much better than the emcs! I was very worried because of the trauma from the last section but the planned one was so calm and relaxed in comparison. I was sent home with codeine (along with paracetamol and ibuprofen) and already am at a point that I’m ‘forgetting’ to take them regularly because the pain is so manageable! I do have a toddler so don’t get to rest as much as I should do really but all in all it’s been a smooth recovery so far 😄 hope yours is just as positive!

Blocklynn · 05/03/2023 21:38

We have a few names for a girl and few names for a boy which we have shared with a few people.
Won’t be picking until baby is here so we know gender and can see what we think suits.

Saltandpepperr · 05/03/2023 21:41

@Moonicorn my baby is 9 days old and still doesn't have a name 😅we just can't decide on one. We have until 3rd April when we are registering him.

Moonicorn · 05/03/2023 21:41

Exciting @Blocklynn do you have an inkling of what you’re having? For some reason I get girl vibes so I’m going to guess that! I didn’t want to find out with this baby but DH really did so that was that! If there’s ever a third baby I’ll definitely be team cream!

Saltandpepperr · 05/03/2023 21:42

@JB2021 my bump went as soon as I gave birth but it's sort of jelly now. Like loose skin? I just wore my pj's home!

Blocklynn · 05/03/2023 21:57

@Moonicorn I really don’t! Most people are guessing girl. I’m trying not to think of baby as one or the other until we find out, I’ll be delighted with either 🥰
Husband would have rather found out but was happy to go with a surprise when I said I’d prefer that.

LifeOfRiley1 · 05/03/2023 22:01

@Franklin321 everyone I’ve spoken to that has had a planned section has said the same - it’s very relaxed! The thought of losing feeling in so much of my body is scaring me a little, as is getting the needle into my spine to do so 😅. And then feeling helpless afterwards due to being limited in movement etc, but having a baby to look after!

Marfs10 · 05/03/2023 22:05

I know that this has been discussed before, but how is everyone managing visitors once baby arrives? All of our family live at least 2 hours away so I feel mean expecting them to only visit for a short time but I’m worried about feeling overwhelmed and I don’t know how to deal with it sensitively?! If anyone has any advice I’d be very grateful!
