So desperate for a glass of wine!

I am coming up 38 weeks and I am so desperate to get this baby out of me so I can have a glass of bloody wine!

For some reason I'm really craving some cold rose right now and I'd usually have a glass or so on a Friday or Saturday night to unwind for the week (obviously not during pregnancy!)

No point to this post, just a moan that I want some wine and if this baby could please evacuate that would be great 😂

You can have a small glass ... it's not the end of the world at this stage of pregnancy.

pompei8309 · 03/02/2023 18:32

Why don’t you?

Kitcaterpillar · 03/02/2023 18:33

Have a glass of wine then...

rubygiz · 03/02/2023 18:33

I would have one a glass of wine will not do you any harm

Lcb123 · 03/02/2023 18:36

At that stage of pregnancy I’d have a small glass. Baby is ready!

happynewyear55 · 03/02/2023 18:39

M&S alcohol free Prosecco is the closest I found to the real thing if that helps!

Mykittensmittens · 03/02/2023 18:39

Goodness just have one!!!

my DM is a consultant obstetrician - at the end of my winter pregnancy I wanted a warm bath and a glass of Rioja - and I carried straight on with her approval.

DrMarciaFieldstone · 03/02/2023 18:40

Yeah, have a small one!

…pop in a wine glass and convince yourself it is real deal..

Twoshoesnewshoes · 03/02/2023 18:40

Have a spritzer?
baby is nice and baked now

Lordofthebutterfloofs · 03/02/2023 18:42

I wouldn't op, you might be seriously disappointed!

I had been seriously wanting a lovely glass of red and decided that I would have a small glass on Christmas day with my dinner and sip it slowly and enjoy it.

It was vile 😔 pregnancy does something to your taste buds.

SpinningFloppa · 03/02/2023 18:43

I still did …🤷‍♀️

Lollyloup91 · 03/02/2023 18:44

I understand why OP is waiting, not because she thinks a glass would do anything but probably because she's like me and would rather have 2/3 glasses than 1 glass 😜

MaryJean87 · 03/02/2023 18:47

I'd wait. You've managed 38 weeks without but in all likelihood there'd be no harm done.

febbabies2023 · 03/02/2023 18:49

@Lollyloup91 this is definitely the case haha! As much as I would enjoy one, I would want another one and it seems pointless to torture myself 🤦🏽‍♀️😂

Also I didn't realise that the main reason for not having alcohol in pregnancy was purely developmental and that at this stage it would likely be okay cause she's fully cooked?! Interesting to know, but if the craving doesn't go away at least I won't feel guilty about it 😂

Blackcurrent... the shweeps one with soda took my cravings away. Delicious

Luredbyapomegranate · 03/02/2023 18:58

You can have a modest glass if you want

Echobelly · 03/02/2023 18:58

Have it - contrary to popular belief pregnant mothers are capable of restricting themselves to one drink! I mostly didn't feel like it anyway but had the odd glass when pregnant.

Please don’t drink alcohol during pregnancy on the basis of comments from randoms on the internet. At least have a google about the impact on the baby.

As to drinks, I recommend you try a rich dark red grape juice or pomegranate juice, poured over wine 👌

justwantobeamum · 03/02/2023 19:03

If you go into labour they’ll happily pump you full of opioids…. I was told by NCT/midwives if you wanted a glass in labour to calm you down go for it wouldn’t be any worse than the opioids on offer!!

Vitriolinsanity · 03/02/2023 19:04

Have one. Be prepared to get galloping indigestion though. I treated myself to a glass on a Friday night and every sodding time had to have a Gaviscon chaser.

Man, I fucking hate Gaviscon.

Businessflake · 03/02/2023 19:08

My obstetrician was happy for me to put “relax with a glass of wine at home” on my birthing plan.

Didnt quite work out that way but never mind!

febbabies2023 · 03/02/2023 19:14

@Kalpatra obviously I'm not going to take everything someone says on the internet as truth and I wouldn't be silly enough to just believe everything everyone said but it is interesting!

@Vitriolinsanity I already have the heartburn and rennies scattered around the house 😂
