3% morphology success stories

hi all,
my partner had a SA done at the beginning of the month. Everything was fine apart from his morphology which was at 3%. He is healthy, eats the right foods, doesn’t smoke, doesn’t drink and does exercise. Is there any success stories to naturally conceive or do we not have a chance without help? my tests are all fine.

My friend’s DH had this and they conceived after 13 months of trying💐

Autumn231 · 27/01/2023 19:03

Hi, my DP had 1% morphology and we conceived our DS a couple of months after the sperm analysis. It took 13 months of trying in total.

He’s not had a spent analysis since then so don’t know whether it has changed but I’m currently pregnant with DC2, so it’s obviously not affected us too much!

I think normal morphology is 4% so 3 definitely doesn’t seem too low.

If the sperm count is normal and especially if it’s high then that’s still a lot of normal shaped sperm!

Sjw30 · 27/01/2023 22:21

We conceived on 1% however it took us 2.5 years. We were told if count and motility are fine and the morphology is an isolated issue that it isn’t impossible to conceive just difficult.

Jadelovely · 27/01/2023 23:07

@CavaCoast thats brilliant to know, so happy it happened for them! we have been ttc for 18 months so far, so hoping we’ve not much longer to wait 🤞🏼
@Autumn231 im so happy for you! this is reassuring to know. All google says is that we may need ISCI or IVF which was making me lose hope but you’ve just gained that hope! congratulations to you both! The DR just said everything else was perfectly fine but never told us the actual numbers so unsure on what they are, but must be good enough

@Sjw30 The dr just said everything else was perfectly normal so i suppose that’s a lot better than if there was a problem with his sperm count or motility. Congractualtions! we’ve been trying 18 months so not quite as long as you were but it just feels like forever. I think with the morphology and my added stress it’s just not worked out so far.. I do need to relax more but it’s easier said than done isn’t it!

thankyou all for your replies, you’ve helped me restore some hope and congratulations again to your friend and yourselves for finally getting your little miracles 💐

DH had 1% morphology - but everything else was spot on (actually above average!!) we tried wellman tablets, kind of tried to be a bit healthier (I don’t think we eat particularly bad anyway!)

Unfortunately for us, it didn’t happen after almost 3 years. So we had IVF with ICSI, but we got pregnant first round which feels amazing 💖 I’d say with 3% that’s really good!!! 4% is what they aim for so it’s not far off at all.

But if you do have to go down the IVF route, just know, you’ll be ok and I actually quite enjoyed the injections lol! X

Jadelovely · 29/01/2023 00:23

@Izzie94x congratulations to you!! sorry it didn’t work out the way you wanted it to but at least you enjoyed the whole
provess of IVF and i’m glad you got to where you wanted to be ❤️ thankyou!! i feel so much better now realising that it’s happened to other people one way or another. When you first hear it it feels like the worst thing in the world! but it’s lovely to hear all these success stories xx

What's update dear

LizzeyBenett · 21/01/2024 09:53

My partner had less than 1% managed to improve it and get a normal sample
In less than 3 months we tried for 2 years to get pregnant and I'm now 20 weeks pregnant. Was just about to start IVF when I found out.

Some things he did:
He drank a lot of coffee had to cut it way down
Cut out ALL alcohol
Supplements:
CoQ10 - zita west
Vitamin d
Maca root
Fenugreek
Vital DHA
Selenium & zinc

I would recommend watching fab and ell on YouTube they had similar issues and did a video on what they did and got pregnant naturally with twins they helped me a lot with I do and supplements.

@nabsal3 @LizzeyBenett Thankyou for the information. After this we had our fertility appointment in August of last year where infact they said I wasn’t ovulating and my partners sperm was fine, still 3% morphology but his sperm count was over 80 million and his mortality was double what it should be do they were happy with that. I then had my tubes flushed and an internal scan in August to check for PCOS, didn’t have that. In september i ended up pregnant after apparently not ovulating and i’m now also 20 weeks today and having a baby boy 💙

Thank you so much for this information. I already had one ivf failed cycle in June 23. I dint have any issue it's due to make factor. Morphology was 1% all other perameters were good. But after failed cycle in September we started proxeed men his morphology improved and came back 3%. But still trying because feeling really scared to go for another ivf cycle. Even it's nhs approved cycle. Pervious cycle was private. Also I want to know how to flush tubes or check it privately.

Jadelovely · 21/01/2024 12:18

@nabsal3 thats really good that his morphology has improved. Was all of his other tests ok? i’m really sorry to hear about the ivf cycle. It’s really gutting. Even now being pregnant i really feel lucky but so sad for others that still aren’t where they want to be yet, it’s something i’ll never forget. It took a us two years and i generally put it the back of my mind as i thought without any help it won’t happen and although i was heartbroken at the time i look back and believe that really helped me and i was so lucky to have it happen by putting it to the back of my mind, that doesn’t work for everyone. I hated people telling me “just to forget” i’d always respond “don’t you think i would if i could?” I went through the nhs for all my tests doing i never did it privately so i’m not sure how you’d go about it, but the private clinic will be able to do all those things. Best of luck to you, you will get there it’s just unfortunate that some people have to go to hell and back to get there and others don’t, i will be thinking of you. Please keep me updated and take every day as it comes. If you ever need a rant just send me a message and i’ll be there to listen always 💕

Yes all other perameters are good. Only morphology trying for so long. But now I am also thinking to check my tubes then to go again for ivf

Jadelovely · 21/01/2024 12:24

@nabsal3 I would recommend it, i believe that’s what helped me because nothing happened for two years and then as soon as i had that done i never had another period

@nabsal3 its called a hsg test

Then what is Hycosy. Are they both same hsg and Hycosy

Esthertms · 21/01/2024 16:38

Thank you for your positive sharing.
I am facing the same question too.
Me and my husband had tried 20month still can't conceive.
My husband latest morphology is 3% too.
Although the motility is 43, but only 3 is rapid Linear, 35 is slow linear, 5 is non linear. I not sure it is good enough or not?
Lucky the quantities of sperm was 136.5 million. Now thinking of want to try IUI 2 month later. Because IVF is higher price....

Wait for 3 months and in that time give him proxeed men in orange one in morning one in evening in orange juice. High dose omaga 3 and ubiquinol 200mg or coq10 200mg . Vitamin D as well. Change diet. Because my husband morphology was 1% and it's luckly improve to 3% in 3 months time . I already had one ivf cycle failed as all fertility clinic told me there is nothing special to change for morphology and I accept that because I was new. But had failed cycle. So now I am trying naturally as told changes definitely can come with proper diet.

Jadelovely · 21/01/2024 20:33

@nabsal3 yes Hycosy and HSG is the same test, hsg is just a shorter term for test. My partner ate well anyway and did a lot of exercise. I don’t know whether it changed or not because he only ever had one test done, the fertility dr said she was happy with his results so he never needed a new one. She said because his mortility and sperm count was great, it wasn’t an issue on its own, but it still took us 8 months after that to fall pregnant naturally. I think the hsg definitely helped as it’s meant to make you super fertile for three months after

@Esthertms When we went for our consultation the consultant told us that the mortility should be at 30 or above and his was 70 so 43 is good. Also his sperm count was only 80 million i say only because compared to what your partners results were there’s a significant difference between them. Are you in england or elsewhere? have you had any tests done?

@nabsal3 Actually by September 2023, his Normal Morphology was only 1%, Overall motility 45 ( But Rapid linear is zero , slow linear 41, non progressive 4 ) .
Total sperm count 93Million.
Then the fertility doctor recommend to try Profertil .
After 3 month by December 2023, I add another supplement Coenzym Q10 to him too. After take Profortil , the result improve to the motility is 43 ( rapid Linear increase to 3, slow linear 35 , non linear 5 )
And the quantities of sperm also increase to 136.5 million.
So , Another 3 month is March 2024
Pray for further increase.

@Jadelovely I am from Asia Country , Malaysia. I had do ultrasound scan & virgina scan for my Ovary ( No PCOS, no Cyst ), period 30days . all sounds good.
And by November & December 2023, I try to have Ovamit, which help to create more folical count. When I do scan , the doctor said my folical quiet good 12 - 15mm while day 8 of period. The only test I not done yet is HSG.
Because the doctor told me , I had pregnant year 2018 ( but just for 4 week ) , so might not be fallapion issue.
However , I think I choose to do HSG this month.
To make my self feel ease .....

I contact to lots of local clinics and they are saying as I already approved for nhs funded ivf so I can't go privately now for any test because it can jeopardise my chance to get fund so in too much stress
