Well this is scary! You’d think after 2 children already I’d know the signs! But nope! Only just found out in preg and going from last time me and hubby done the deed I’d be 30 weeks! Got to get onto midwife’s tomorrow morning and get a scan booked asap! Somehow find a way of telling the hubby and other kids and the rest of the family! I didn’t plan any more kids but obviously this 1 had other ideas! Oh and I was on the 12 week depo jab!

There’s a whole tv show based on people going into labour without knowing they were pregnant. People need to stop being so judgey. It happens. And quite frankly I found it comforting in my pregnancy to know that there were people less prepared than I was that coped well and all turned out ok.

Right, so you had actual fetal movement, that you felt repeatedly to the extent you could see it through your skin, and a large protuding uterine bump...and you didn't know you were pregnant?
The denial is strong in this one.

Right so she said she had full on fetal movement and therefore took a pregnancy test, the lack of comprehension is strong in this one.

porpy · 18/01/2023 11:05

There probably are some people who suspected but brushed it under carpet and were in denial. But definitely are those who genuinely had no idea. It’s usually the perfect storm of being on contraception so nothing off about no periods, no bump, placenta at the front so no obvious movements etc, busy lifestyle

SchoolTripDrama · 18/01/2023 11:10

@Ohhmydays What on earth is a jag in this context?

Vicki3007 · 18/01/2023 11:16

CallTheMobWife · 18/01/2023 10:58

It didn't appear fully formed and do all that movement in five minutes, did it?

I’m a size 20, thought the hard stomach was bloating from all the crap at Christmas, I never look d pregnant till late with my second either. Phantom kicks are a thing, I felt them for years after having my daughter, it was only when my MIL said summut about how bloated I was that first made me question it, then sitting there and actually paying attention to what was happening gave me the first oh shit moment, so I went and got a test, comes back positive…. When you have a nearly 2 year old keeping you busy, working, cleaning, school runs for the 10 year old, ect it’s easy to miss things! Now I’m aware of everything I can feel them doing bloody somersaults in there! I have friends who never looked pregnant right up till they gave birth…

Congratulations 🌺🌺

Vicki3007 · 18/01/2023 11:20

Thank you to all the positive people, any baby is a blessing in my eyes, I don’t seen the point in being upset about it when there’s nothing that can be done to Change the situation so I’m just gonna do what I have to do and be a mum! It’s not my first rodeo and I will cope either way! Once I’ve had my scan (hopefully this week) I will be a step closer to knowing when this baby will make its appearance, thank you to all for having my back to the very few rude comments but luckily I’m mature enough to ignore them and just be thankful that I’m being blessed with yet another beautiful bundle of joy!

I think the cater was 24 when she got pregnant, not now.

With the phantom kicks, did you just write that off as "bit of upset tummy" and then think "ah well gaining a bit of weight at the front" and stuff like that? And the solid stomach that started doing full on waving moves (I remember that one)

I had my last child 16 years ago - I've had phantom kicks ever since, definitely not, nor have been pregnant in the intervening period

Ireallywantsomechips · 18/01/2023 12:33

This happened to a colleague of mine! She kept going to the doctors with stomach issues and they diagnosed her with IBS!
Im not sure how it was exactly discovered she was pregnant but she found out and had to go on maternity leave immediately she was so far along!

ohidoliketobe · 18/01/2023 12:36

Wow congratulations OP! I love how laid back you are about it.
I had a surprise 3rd, 1/1000 Mirena coil failure 🤷🏼‍♀️ used to no period, felt drained and quesy for 9 weeks and took a test to rule it out before going to the doctors as thought it would be the first thing they ask. Ahhh. Ok... I was 13 weeks. I was going to suggest contacting the nearest EPU as that's where I was referred to (they wanted to check if the insitu coil was going to cause issues), but thinking about it the E - 'Early' might render them not an option for you at c. 30 weeks! I wish you all the best

uncomfortablydumb53 · 18/01/2023 12:47

Wow! Congratulations What a wonderful shock!
This happened to my neighbour who found out at 29 weeks
She was having periods throughout and had put on a few pounds but absolutely no bump
She had him at 38 weeks too, so only had 9 weeks to get her head around it

PatchworkElmer · 18/01/2023 12:55

Congratulations and good luck OP!

Meow!! Catty comment of the day!!

I guess she is implying that all women should be absolutely sober at all times in case of unwanted pregnancy's?

frazzled101 · 18/01/2023 13:31

As someone else said I'm loving your positive attitude. Part of me would love a surprise 3rd baby!

Congratulations!

Blendandmix · 18/01/2023 13:50

My daughter is 14 months and I still get phantom kicks so I totally get this. Also very rarely have sex so could pin point when the conception was! Feel like this is me in a few years 😂 congrats Op!

dogdaydown · 18/01/2023 13:57

Emmamoo89 · 18/01/2023 13:14

I don't think it's catty.

What is it then, because it certainly didn't come across as caring or concerned, it was full of spite and judgement.

Emmamoo89 · 18/01/2023 13:14

I don't think it's catty.

Well then you’re probably catty too! Takes one to know one.
