Hey just a general question, just wondering how many weeks pregnancy were you when you started your maternity leave 😁

Thanks

At 36 weeks I took 2 weeks annual leave, then maternity started at 38 weeks. Baby didn’t arrive though until almost 42 weeks so I was BORED by that time lol

user147283190 · 16/01/2023 19:08

Started mat leave the day before my due date. Thought I would be waiting around for at least a week but baby was only two days late.

Wrongsideofpennines · 16/01/2023 19:08

Technically 39 weeks but had 3 weeks annual leave before that. This time I was hoping for the 39 weeks and take a week's annual leave before. I am office based and work 9 hour days.

QueenOfWeeds · 16/01/2023 19:14

I’m 37 weeks today - aiming to get to 38+4 but it’s a mission. The only thing keeping me going is knowing that moving around is good for the baby and if I were at home I’d be slumped on the sofa bingeing Netflix.

specialk9 · 16/01/2023 20:34

My first two I was around 37 weeks and they both came at 38+6 (planned)

My third I finished at 35+2 (was poorly with anaemia so finished earlier than planned). I clocked off at 6pm. He was born the next day ffs 🤦🏻‍♀️ 😂

Manifest828 · 16/01/2023 21:08

Nurse - 39+6 with my first think I'm going to start at 40 with my second, depending on how much annual leave I have

RainbowPhilosophy · 16/01/2023 21:14

39+2 with my first but currently pregnant with number 2 and for medical reasons I think I will need to start earlier this time - thinking 38 weeks at the moment.

biscuitcat · 16/01/2023 21:18

I was 38 weeks with my first, but was ready to finish a little earlier - it was a heatwave though, so that probably played into it!

Pregnant again now and will be going off earlier than I had hoped at 33 weeks, as my annual leave on return to work got mixed up so I have absolutely loads to use and would lose it otherwise - but having an ELCS at 39 weeks so at least it's 6 rather than 9 weeks of waiting (plus a toddler to run round after...)

MatronicO6 · 16/01/2023 21:20

37 weeks and I was ready.

cadburyegg · 16/01/2023 21:21

I used annual leave both times before starting ML but I stopped working at 38 weeks with my first and 37 weeks with my second. DS1 born at 39+5 and DS2 at 39+0. First time round was fine but second time round I really wish I had gone on leave earlier - I was exhausted, ill and had cholestasis. Still, I maximised my ML with my two babies at least

BabyB2022 · 16/01/2023 21:21

Finishing work at 37+1, taking annual leave and officially starting mat leave the date of my c section at 39 weeks.
Finished at 38 weeks last time.

Snugglemonkey · 16/01/2023 22:25

First time I had to start it prematurely as I was put in bed rest at 32 weeks. Second time I went to 36 weeks as I had planned.

MrsCLogan · 16/01/2023 22:30

Finished at 36 weeks using up 2.5 weeks annual leave before mat leave started. Ended up being induced at 42 weeks and was bored stiff! Couldn’t have worked any longer though (retail, long shifts on feet) plus the public transport was hell

Mammyloveswine · 16/01/2023 22:31

40 both times...

Emmamoo89 · 16/01/2023 22:31

33 weeks.

Rainsdropskeepfalling · 16/01/2023 22:40

40 (but reluctantly as i was bored sh**less at home for two weeks before DS1 appeared - you can only go swimming so many times a day)

39+3 (for elcs at 39+5) - I got a hair cut in the day off

It's hard to compare as everyone's job is different

sunshineandshowers40 · 16/01/2023 22:42

37, 36 (school holidays and due in August and 38 weeks.

Mumofoneson5 · 16/01/2023 22:44

37 weeks and baby was born 42+2 a was a looooonnng 5 weeks 🤣 don’t regret it though - I relaxed, watched Netflix and enjoyed lots of coffee and walks before our lives changed!

Mumofoneson5 · 16/01/2023 22:44

Ps changed for the better!

LoveBluey · 16/01/2023 22:45

Planned it to be at 38 weeks but baby arrived at 36 weeks so I was actually at work when I went in to labour.

2chocolateoranges · 16/01/2023 22:47

1st I was 37 weeks and had a weeks holiday after I finished. Worked in retail management.
2nd I was 31 weeks. I worked in hospitality anytime between noon and 3am and I was knackered, I also had a 19month old at home so stopped quite early to spend time with him and to rest before our new baby arrived.

Deut28 · 16/01/2023 22:55

38 weeks (and induced at 39 weeks). Desk-based and WfH but spend a lot of my day on video calls. Was counting down the weeks until I could finish from about the 30-week mark!

BluIsTheColour · 17/01/2023 11:59

My commute was 1hr each way driving and train so I wanted to finish early. I stayed until 37 wks with first. She was born after induction at 41wks so I was pretty bored for a gd few weeks!

I finished at 37wks with second too. I got 2 days off before she came very unexpectedly early! Hadn't had a chance to do anything and hospital wasn't even packed 🙈

sunshine423 · 17/01/2023 16:28

35+4 with section booked for 37 weeks. It had to be brought forward to 36 weeks so despite wishing I was staying on for a few more days when I finished...I was glad I didn't!

MollyMunster · 17/01/2023 16:29

37 weeks first time, 40 weeks (ie due date) the second time. I’m in favour of waiting til the last minute!
