Ok, you Mumsnetters have been fantastically helpful with all my questions and wants and some kind souls have even sent me things (You know who you are - thank you!)

But I still need a decent lightweight buggy/travel system I can take on the bus, pref suitable from birth, with a raincover, footmuff, shopping basket and bag that ISNT ten years old/ripped/filthy and smelling of cat. Maybe even a car seat for when DP and I go out in the car. I usually use public transport so that is a major consideration.

I cant believe that no-one in Edinburgh has this/these to sell. I can afford £80-£100 thru paypal (credit card) for the lot.

Or AIBU and do these things cost too much to sell for such a low price, second hand or not? If so please tell me and I will stop wasting my energy. I dont want to insult anyone and sorry for the rant. I havent looked on any retail websites except Toys R Us and the one that was recommended was sold out.

I've got two months to go and thought I would have this sorted by now. [exasperated]

BearMama · 04/02/2008 23:06

Bugger. Sorry BearMama.

ThePFJ · 04/02/2008 23:16

At argos there is the Graco Century Travel system for 99 pounds. Looks like it has everything you need. Or there are a couple of other good ones for 120 pounds or less there too. Hope this helps. xx

Reamhar · 04/02/2008 23:44

Have you tried Big W at the New Craighall? I got a Mclaren there quite cheaply a couple of years ago. It might be worth a look.

BearMama · 05/02/2008 00:07

Thanks notjustmom - I went for a bath!

PFJ - thanks for the Argos tip! Will look it up online.

Reamhar - Didnt know about that Big W, know there is one at the Jewel

The Graco Century on Argos looks good but only up to 15kg - how old is that (approx)???

Does anyone think that bright turquoise is, well gak

Knows beggars cant be choosers but wishes it was less garish and hopes it comes in different colour

OP posts:
ThePFJ · 05/02/2008 05:38

I know what you mean a bit about the colour, but blue and chocolate are the in thing at the mo I suppose. The travel systems on the argos site normally go from 0-3years. If in doubt look for the manufacturers site and see the specifications there or on another more informative site. Then dash back to the cheap site to buy it. xx

ThePFJ · 05/02/2008 05:39

Btw, BearMama I love my Graco travel system pram already. Its lovely for the price.

Flllightattendant · 05/02/2008 05:53

15kg is about 3 years old, IIRC...stomp on my head if I'm wrong!

Wallace · 05/02/2008 05:57

Do you need a travel system? If not, a lightweight pushchair would be perfect

I've just noticed it says ffrom three months, but I have the same pushhair and when I bought it less than 2 years ago it said from birth. It doesn't lie completely flat, but very nearly.

Wallace · 05/02/2008 05:59

FA - you're right I think 15kg is meant to be about 3 years. I think all pushchairs go up to 15kg. My 18 month old is almost 15kg, but the weight limit certainly won't stop me putting him in the pushchair

sambrads · 05/02/2008 08:22

Hi again, I have an older Pliko I'm selling - condition is fine, it's about 4 years old.
Boyish colours. I can send pics later if you like...£45 delivered? A Primo Viaggio carseat will fit too, I don't have mine now but they're easy to get hold of s/h.

It had footmuff, raincover and basket - no bag but I have one you're welcome to for £5.

BearMama · 05/02/2008 13:53

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all the messages and offers.
I am now experiencing "pram panic" and need to calm down!

One thing is for sure - there will ALWAYS be a reasonably priced pushchair/travel system out there, I dont why I'm in such a tizz.

Does a car seat always need a base to be secure? (Arg something else to worry about)

The Mamas and Papas Aria sounds fantastic esp as it only weighs 5kg. I think what will happen is, we will get a 2nd hand travel system for the car and I will concentrate on getting a lightweight pushchair for getting on and off buses and up and down stairs.

Flightattendant am having a girl otherwise would be interested!

Have looked on Gumtree and there are a few things, think its just knowing where to look as well as what to look for!

Actually you're right, they are more at the Jewell than New Craighall. Doh! lol.

MrsDandOllie · 05/02/2008 17:10

Hiya, I have a Graco quattro tour deluxe in grey boston check with car seat and base for £65 if you are interested? Its just over 2 years old and is in very good condition, with the one exception that it needs a new shoulder strap on the pushchair harness (can get from Graco). Comes with raincover, footmuff etc and all newborn padded bits.
Will send via courier if interested which shouldnt cost more than about £25, so would be £90 total....
Can send pics x

pigleychez · 05/02/2008 17:35

Found this

direct.tesco.com/q/R.202-1088.aspx

any good??

I spent ages and lots of headaches finding mine. Cant believe how many differnt ones there are and the different features they have!

BearMama · 05/02/2008 18:05

Thanks everyone. Ok I have managed to find a nearly-new Aria for £50 incl delivery.

Just the travel system now. Mrs D and Ollie, could you send pics to [email protected]? And tell me how tall it is (for DP, see below)

pigleychez - thanks but think this might be too low for DP - he is 6 ft 2 whereas I am only 5ft 3, lol

Reamhar, just realised how NEAR the Jewell is to Newcraighall, sorry didnt mean to be pedantic but my grasp of geography is truly shocking and I've lived here all my life!

MrsDandOllie · 05/02/2008 19:24

Hiya,

I have emailed you the pics to that address but not sure if it got through ok as have had an email back saying about some kind of error?
Can you let me know if you've got it please? I'll try and re-send as well!

BearMama · 05/02/2008 20:07

Hi MrsD, just got pic of car seat so far, sorry o2 is not the best!
