Hello ladies
I'm 44 and had 4 previous miscarriages..... Found out last wk I'm pregnant and incredibly anxious after so many losses and my age. Lack of symptoms aren't helping besides the stretching twinges.

Is anyone joining me in this journey?

@Blueskies4 glad you're getting a scan organised.
I've been prescribed cyclogest too but I'm already 8 weeks and only got the tablets last night after a mixup at the doctor and wait at the pharmacist for it to come in stock, I'm not sure whether to take it or not.

log51 · 09/02/2023 12:34

Hello everyone :) please may I join? I am I think 6 + 6 today so due around 30 September, after a chemical pregnancy in December! Still quite nervous and have a scan booked for next Saturday where I think I'll be 8+1!
Very happy to see lots of people having positive news at their scans

Blueskies4 · 09/02/2023 13:00

@Astar21 🤞🏻It’s the magic ticket! I’ve been spotting so I’m hoping it’ll help to put my mind at ease!

@log51 welcome! Hope your scan comes around quickly x

@pinkpirlie have you seen the info on Tommys website? Not sure if it’ll help you decide;

www.tommys.org/our-research/our-research-projects/miscarriage-research/can-progesterone-really-prevent-miscarriage

I have a scan booked with EPU next Tuesday :)

Houseelf90 · 09/02/2023 13:02

@Blueskies4 I’m glad you got a scan sorted!

@log51 welcome! I’m 7+1 after a chemical in December too!

Astar21 · 09/02/2023 13:41

@Blueskies4 yes let's hope so! It definitely eases your mind to know you're doing something pro-active to help 🤞🏼 Not long to wait til your scan!

Welcome @log51 💕

@pinkpirlie whatever you feel is right for you lovely, I have to take it up until 16w

pinkpirlie · 09/02/2023 13:54

@Blueskies4 that link is really helpful, thank you.
My concern is I haven't had any bleeding at all. I had previous chemical pregnancies rather than later miscarriages, I have never got more than 5 and a bit weeks before this pregnancy. I think this is possibly due to me having previously undiagnosed incredibly low B12, that has now been resolved after I pushed for full bloods to be done.
The consultant said to do some research and decide if I wanted to take it, which isn't particularly helpful.
I'm worried that it will cause problems rather than help the pregnancy, even though he did say there wasn't any risk.

@log51 welcome! I have had past CPs too. The anxiety awful after loss. I hope your scan goes well on the weekend and you get good news too.

Passenger87 · 09/02/2023 14:05

@log51 welcome and gentle congratulations x

@pinkpirlie I am taking cyclogest since I got positive. I take 400mg twice a day aswell as 150mg nuprin for a low positive aps. I don't find any side affects myself however some people do report it can irritate the cervix and cause some spotting which I know would be a worry.

You could always take it rectally to remove any chance of cervical irritation? Have they taken any betas yet?

Furbabymum15 · 09/02/2023 14:22

@Blueskies4 I hope all went well for you today xx did they scan you? I was put on cyclogest from 7 dpo. I've had spotting and an actual heavy bleed but all was OK on my last scan xx I'm on aspirin too xx

pinkpirlie · 09/02/2023 14:40

@Passenger87 thank you for your experience. I think I will give it a go then.

I don't know what Betas are, so guessing I haven't had them checked.

I've had two scans at 6+2 and 6+6. One privately and one at EPU as I was having a lot of abdominal pain and the consultant said I should get it checked out. Both times saw the baby with a heart beat.
First scan said 5.5mm, 2nd 4 days later they said 4.5mm. I'm hoping that's due to different sonographers and measuring equipment and not that the bean is shrinking. I booked another private scan 2 weeks today, which will be 3 weeks on from the EPU scan.

Blueskies4 · 09/02/2023 21:15

@Furbabymum15 thank you.. no scan today, they’ve booked me in for next Tuesday. Here’s to wishing the weekend away! I’m starting on the progesterone tonight, hoping there’s no irritation x

Furbabymum15 · 10/02/2023 14:11

@Blueskies4 aww bless u..... I know what u mean about wishing the days away x I have my midwife appointment on Tues then my next scan on 20th. I have a free rescan tomoz from a private provider but unsure whether to go incase of problems from too many scans I've had 4 already. I'm sure u will be fine with the progesterone I always lay flat for 30 mins after to make sure it's absorbed x

BEL88 · 10/02/2023 14:28

I'm not sure what's going on, I wiped earlier and there was a tiny bit of pink blood. I'm on progesterone but use them rectally so I don't think it can be them blamed :( I've rang EPU and waiting for nurse to ring back

Tinkerbell098 · 10/02/2023 15:27

@BEL88 when I had the spotting episode last week, EPU said that the pessaries can increase blood flow to the area and the hormonal changes can result in a bit of spotting. Keep an eye on it. Hope it's very mild, and won't increase. Has EPU gotten back to you yet? Mine stopped after a couple of days, so fingers crossed yours would too.

BEL88 · 10/02/2023 15:37

@Tinkerbell098 they've given me a scan for Monday

Blueskies4 · 10/02/2023 20:50

@Furbabymum15 thanks for the tip :) I didn’t know the too many scans was a thing before yesterday.. I was going to book a private one for today because I didn’t want to spend another weekend feeling in limbo but they wouldn’t with me having the nhs one Tuesday they said it’s against clinical guidance. That’s good that you have another for the 20th x

@BEL88 hope you’re ok. Glad they’ve got you in for a scan and hope it’s not too stressful x

HopefulBee · 11/02/2023 08:59

How’s everyone doing today? I’m still struggling with all day nausea but the meds are helping a bit. Anyone else super tired? I’m having to take naps when I can and still only make it to 8pm nowadays. Really hard to get work done this way, and I feel like I haven’t seen OH in weeks.

Houseelf90 · 11/02/2023 09:30

@HopefulBee I’m also exhausted!! Odd bit of nausea but not been sick for a couple of weeks now. Have the odd hot/dizzy spell too but not sure if that’s pregnancy related or not. I have my scan today at 5pm so we’re going to go out shopping for the day as a distraction!
Didn’t feel well at all yesterday afternoon/evening and had bad back ache so a bit worried!

Hope everyone is ok!

HopefulBee · 11/02/2023 11:28

Good luck today @Houseelf90 !!

Furbabymum15 · 11/02/2023 11:53

@Blueskies4 something told me to go for that scan I had this morning unfortunately it's bad news. No heartbeat can be found and it's been visable since 6 wks. EPAU need to see me to verify on Tuesday and see what my preference for removal is absolutely gutted is an under statement. HB must have just stopped measuring 22.3 mm and 9 wks xx

I wish all you ladies the very best xx

@Houseelf90 good luck today! Hope you enjoy the shopping!

Houseelf90 · 11/02/2023 12:58

Thank you @Passenger87 and @HopefulBee

@Furbabymum15 I am so so sorry 💔 please look after yourself xx

BEL88 · 11/02/2023 13:39

@Furbabymum15 I am so so sorry. It is so unfair to go through it yet again. Thinking of you, look after yourself xx

CaliGirl47 · 11/02/2023 14:00

I’m so sorry. @Furbabymum15 That is absolutely gut wrenching. Life can be so unfair sometimes. I’m really sorry that you are experiencing loss again. 😔

With my MMC I saw the baby on screen at 9.5 weeks and I could see the heartbeat fading out. It was absolutely horrible. I know how it feels to think that you’ve just witnessed the passing of your baby. My heart goes out to you. 💔 I really hope the EPAU give you the support and care you deserve. I was given a memory box from the charity 4louis and I found it helpful to have something tangible to hold onto and place my photos inside. Every life is real and every life matters. Sending you so much love and hugs. Please be kind to yourself.
