Creating a new thread as we’re about to finish the first - just as we finish our first trimesters!

@Hjudge56 we used Aptamil, when he was a newborn we used the dinky pre made bottles - apparently they are easier to digest? Then after a few weeks we moved onto the powder formula
I’d recommend a perfect prep machine when using powder formula, worth its weight in gold!!

Hjudge56 · 03/04/2023 16:09

@dunkedbiscuit ah thanks that’s good to know! Great idea too taking pre made ones to hospital!

what Prep machine do you recommend? I have got the Tommy tippee prep machine intended for night feeds!

rach971 · 03/04/2023 17:59

@Hjudge56 I'm not sure where abouts you are but I'm in England and here you can't take formula in when you have your baby, the hospital provide everything

Hjudge56 · 03/04/2023 18:16

@rach971 yes I’m in England too.. I didn’t know that! So you don’t need to take bottles or anything they will provide with formula?

Are you sure? I thought they had stopped providing formula and nappies.

@rach971 @Hjudge56 I know they used to provide most things when I had my daughter although that was 14 years ago haha. My trust stopped providing things unless in an emergency 3/4 years ago (my mum works on our local maternity unit) so I'd say best to check with your midwife/local trust 😊! Pre made bottles are SO much easier in hospital so no faff with sterilising etc etc! I'm planning to try and breastfeed but will be taking some with me just incase! I was quite poorly with pre eclampsia after having my daughter and was out of it for about 12 hours so feeding wasn't an issue even though I wasn't "there" x

rach971 · 03/04/2023 19:31

@PinkPink1 Ooooh yeah it may vary by area then. Ours have never provided nappies or anything though, literally just the bottles/formula

dunkedbiscuit · 03/04/2023 21:56

@Hjudge56 the Tommy tippee perfect prep
machine was a god send! Hands down the best purchase we made

Hjudge56 · 03/04/2023 22:17

@dunkedbiscuit amazing I’m glad I have purchased it rhen!

Hi all :)
Welcome to the newbies!

Sorry I haven't been active for a while, we moved into our first house on Friday and it has been mad! I am so pleased we have done it though and I finally feel like I am an adult 🤣 which at 28, I'm sure I should have felt before haha.

Once we have everything in and as we want it, decorated how we want it, would it be silly to think about maybe putting together baby nursery furniture over the bank holiday weekend? (If we have time?) We probably wouldn't decorate yet, but just to get some boxes out of that way 🤣 due 4th July, is that too soon? Should we not have the baby stuff in the house? It's currently all at the in-laws, but we were living there with everything in the house prior to us moving our on Friday, so 🤷🏼‍♀️
Maybe I will ask if we can leave the pram there, but move everything else, clothes, furniture, moses basket, etc here.
Still need to get a baby bath and breast pump and probably loads of other bits I haven't even thought about.
I also have no idea about things that I will need? So any help there would be good please? Pads, creams etc, might be a silly question, but as a FTM and noone telling me these things, I feel a bit snowed under about what I am going to actually need.

Hope you all had a good night's sleep! I'm on Easter holidays, so sods law, I am actually sleeping better than I had been when I was at work, however, I don't know if that's because I was stressing about the house move on top of crap pregnancy sleep.

What are baby's movements feeling like for you all at the mo? I'm 23+4 and sometimes it feels like she's jerking her whole body round in there rather than just kicking. She also seems to kick/move more on my left hand side at the moment, I keep feeling it in one spot mostly. I do get some on the right but not as much. Can't quite figure out what position she must be in 😂

Faz469 · 04/04/2023 09:52

Hi. I'm new to this thread and soooo glad I found it. First time mum here currently 24+6, due 19th July. Absolutely pooing myself at the moment.

I've been fairly chilled out and feel quite organised. But this last week, my emotions have been all over the place. I'm hoping it's just a phase, though!

Rutennotou · 04/04/2023 19:08

Went for a 4D scan today. She had her hand up over her face for most of it but she eventually moved it. Looks like her sister 🤣 She is breech at the moment, had a C section in my last pregnancy due to being breech so I'm sort of expecting it to happen again now!

SSimp24 · 04/04/2023 22:35

@rach971 I've got an anterior placenta this time round so not as strong as what I'm used too, but getting stronger. The only difference for me really is my partner can't feel the movements as much because my placenta is in the way 🤦🏻‍♀️

rach971 · 04/04/2023 23:17

@SSimp24 Anterior here too. Can see and feel baby move from the outside though so I'm not quite sure where at the front it is

RandomCatGenerator · 05/04/2023 00:16

Those are beautiful @Rutennotou

@RandomCatGenerator Thank you! We saw the wee smile appear in real time, made my partner cry lol.

Started feeling sick last night, had awful shivers for a few hours and then sweated for hours, was absolutely drenched. Partner is the same, think we have the flu 🤧

We are due on the same date! I'm a first timer too. So exciting!

I wouldn't worry about the emotions. I've been terrible. I can cry at the drop of a hat most days lol

SSimp24 · 05/04/2023 16:18

@rach971 I had my first movement that I could see yesterday/the day before. All the others are super low down (like a foot is going to emerge😂) but they said my placenta is low lying at my scan last week so I can only assume the baby is kicking the placenta (who knows)🙈

gg9320 · 05/04/2023 19:17

Has anyone had a GTT? I had mine today and it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting! Just tasted a bit sickly 😅

SSimp24 · 06/04/2023 10:18

I have mine the first week of may, I'll be exactly 28 weeks the day I go. Had it with my other two and I don't mind it to be honest. It's just the waiting around I hate x

leanneb94 · 06/04/2023 10:21

@gg9320 I had my GTT on Monday and honestly thought it was going to be awful but wasn't too bad, more boring just waiting around for the two hours. I thought it just tasted like a weak squash drink which was bearable, I was expecting a really syrupy drink. Luckily haven't heard anything back from it and notes on the badger notes app show normal 😊

colleen02 · 06/04/2023 13:16

I had mine Tuesday, i didnt mind the drink they gave me 10 mins to drink it but it was the wait time that was the worst. I got my results back the dame day but its turned out i have it, bCk on tuesday for all the infor x

Leezo · 06/04/2023 17:01

I got my GTT this morning - the drinks not too bad, like a very sweet isotonic lucozade. It did make me feel very sick afterwards but I suppose drinking anything super cold and sweet on an empty stomach would do that! My problem was that they couldn't get blood drawn!! 3 times in left arm, 3 times in right, 4 times in back of left hand then bingo on the 2nd time on the right hand!!!?! I jokingly offered my foot and she said she would going there next if she couldn't get any out 🤣 no lasting effects other than very bruised as I'm on blood thinners and a bit of reflux as I couldn't take any antacids this morning.
Baby went crazy after I drank the liquid so it must have loved the sugar hit!
On a different note can I ask what everyone's estimated baby weights are and gestation? I'm 26 weeks and baby was measuring roughly 2lb 4oz yesterday!! I thought that seemed huge but it's sitting on the 50th percentile for my height/weight. I was going to query it but thought I'd ask around first!
