Hi ladies ! Anyone 40+ Ttc or have success stories . I just turned 40 and want to try for a baby but worried it’s too late for me . As family and friends keeps on telling me I’m too old now . Any success stories ? I’m willing to do IVF if needed , just very depressed from what my family and friends have been telling me to just forget about it .

Hi, not quite 40 but I was a month or two shy of 39 when I fell pregnant. We weren't trying, we completely avoided sex at fertile times, used condoms... so it's all been a massive shock. But I figure if I can do it accidentally at my age then there's certainly a chance that you could do it intentionally a year later!

mondaytosunday · 06/01/2023 18:56

I got married at 40 and it took four months of trying to get pregnant. And again at 42. My cousin had hers a 45 and a friend at 46. All conceived naturally.
Plenty of women have kids in their 40s.

Liveafr · 06/01/2023 19:01

I'm a bit younger but I recommend you the book "It starts with the egg", that is great about fertility.

tsmainsqueeze · 06/01/2023 19:08

Not too late at all !
I had my 3rd baby at 40, 4 months ish to conceive , easy pregnancy and birth.
Try not to get too obsessed and anxious about it ,easier said than done i know!
but i really think the more relaxed you are the more likely it is to happen, good luck x

Perexi · 06/01/2023 19:42

I'm 41 now and 28 weeks pregnant, I was 40 when we started trying and we got pregnant the second month! I was worried that we wouldn't be able to after reading about the chances after a certain age. Good luck!

Surprisepregnancy1 · 06/01/2023 19:50

First baby 2 years plus TTC, fell pregnant at 34, second baby 6 months TTC at 37 and then fell pregnant by accident at 39. Really similar to @overwork Literally one time 😂 who are these people who say it’s impossible at 40! It is for some people but you won’t know until you try. I know plenty of people who have had babies in their early 40s. I suggest focus on doing what you can - eat healthy, stay positive, DEFINITELY take prenatal vitamins. When I was struggling to conceive my first, a doctor advised relaxing and having a glass or two of wine!! At the time it seemed a bit insensitive and impossible, but on reflection it was good advice.

milawops · 06/01/2023 19:53

I fell pregnant with my first 4 months before my 41st birthday and my second 1 month before my 42nd.

Yazyaz · 06/01/2023 19:57

@Liveafr is this a test in a clinic or a home test ? Thank you

I had my first child at 37 and my fourth at 44. I am a Reflexologist specialising in fertility and for women over 40, I would recommend DHEA and CoEnzyme Q10 for egg health and a good quality Vitamin D supplement. Always get advice from your doctor before taking these.

Go for it & all the best! xx

Baconand · 06/01/2023 20:32

Conceived easily at 40, DH was 45. Took less than a year of irregular sex. It’s not necessarily difficult. Good luck!

Applecrumble24 · 06/01/2023 20:46

I started ttc at 40, pregnant within 3 months. Sadly, had a mmc at 10 weeks. Conceived again within 4 months and she was born when I was 41.
Pregnancy was fine after initial scares , normal aches and pains throughout and quick, problem free labour.

40 is not too old!

Whiskeypowers · 06/01/2023 20:49

First at 39, second at 41 third at 42
None planned or tried for

good luck!

thejadefish · 06/01/2023 20:54

I had DC1 at 39 and DC2 at 45 (both natural). It might take longer (although I think some people find it easy or struggle regardless of their age) but 40 isn't too old, no. Good luck!

Rainbows121 · 06/01/2023 21:46

I had DC1 at 39 and now ttc DC2 at 43. Reading these posts give me hope.
Good luck

StarDolphins · 06/01/2023 21:52

I had my first & only DD 3mo this after my 42nd irthday. Few months of trying, easy pregnant & birth.

Quite a few mums at my DD’s school the same! One lady was 45 when she had her son with no issues.

Yazyaz · 06/01/2023 22:34

Oh my god !!! Ladies thank you so much for all the responses , you all made me very optimistic now and I won’t take my family’s and friends word that I’m too old !!! All the best xxx

Yup lucky to get pregnant first month of trying with both dc near 40

Seryse · 06/01/2023 22:40

Its not too late, I've had a 52 year old patient before having her first baby, it's your choice and how you feel. Myself - I'm 40 with an 18 year old daughter from a previous relationship, one we constantly tried for more children but despite seeing fertility specialists, it never happened. I'd been with my new partner a year, he'd moved in due to the pandemic, I was at work (I work in maternity at the hospital) and realised I was late. Had my son in March of this year, and despite being on desogestrel and taking it religiously I fell pregnant again in August when he was 4 months old (first time we had sex since having our son) which, unfortunately, resulted in a miscarriage. Now currently 17 weeks pregnant (son will be 14 months when I go in for this c section.. pray for me haha) and ill be 41 then so no, its not too late for you.

Wishing you lots and lots of luck, don't give up hope!

jeannie46 · 06/01/2023 23:09

Managed to squeeze 2nd baby in just before 42nd birthday ( conceived 2nd month trying). My aunt managed 3 babies - at 39, 40, 42! My grandmother had last at 41. My mother had me at 40. All naturally. So not impossible at all.

iammother · 06/01/2023 23:51

You aren't too old. So many women have babies in their 40s. I conceived DS at 40, had him at 41 - a perfect, healthy baby.

CommaStop · 07/01/2023 00:02

i'm 41 and 8 months pregnant. Conceived naturally. My mother was 40 when I was born. It really depends on the individual. I would get your AMH (roughly speaking ovarian reserve) tested (privately if need be for speed). It's just a blood test and should tell you more about how your egg supply is (although quality of eggs is a separate issue). Definitely not impossible by any means.

Starry77 · 07/01/2023 02:48

I had my first DD just after my 39th birthday and I am now 35 weeks pregnant and just turned 41. Conceived both within 1-2 months of trying. I feel great and have had straightforward pregnancies despite being deemed high risk category. Your Definately not too old to try at 40, wishing you lots of luck!

annlee3817 · 07/01/2023 08:53

I have a four month old and am 41, we had the NIPT test done privately to test for any chromosomal issues. Other than that I fell pregnant on the first try, had my last baby at 34.

Yazyaz · 09/01/2023 11:38

thank you all for all the positivity !!!! You made me all really happy and optimistic xx

Add another one :) I'm 40 (soon to be 41) and 22w+2 with my 3rd child- took us only 2 months to conceive, my friends were telling me iwnaant old but my sis was saying that I was..Well, I ignored her :)

I thought it might take us long due to my age so I'd started taking Ubiquinol 200mg (natural form of CoEnzyme Q10) from Amazon (as recommended in the It Starts with The Egg). It hadn't had a chance to help but it's something we both ppan tk take for the rest of our lives.

Ubiquinol helps to "renew/repair" every single cell in your body- as the cells age/need a boost every 3 months (or something like that..🫠)- no wonder Ubiquinol is said to be wonderful for improving quality of female eggs.

All the best xx

Ps: I agree, lots of women in 40s have babies these days.
