Sudden loss of symptoms - reassurance vs realism

Hi all

I have had 2 MMC's this year - 11 weeks and 8 weeks. The 8 week loss was tested and came back as a diagnosis of Edward's syndrome.

I am currently 7+5 and have been experiencing strong nausea and sore boobs since around week 3.

Yesterday my symptoms started fading and I've woken today without any symptoms. I can Google for reassurance but I think what I need is realism.

I have also had some cramping and my bowels seem more active than usual.

Really just need someone to talk to. I have a scan on Weds but if I make it to then and it's bad news, selfishly I won't be able to take any action as it will be Xmas and I'm damned if my son won't have a great Xmas because this might have happened again.

Just feel more anxious than I ever have. Want to fall asleep for a long time.

Hopeful bump.

So sorry about your losses. I know how nerve wracking this must be, but it's surely too soon to make any judgements about symptoms changing since yesterday. I'm 8+2 and mine are different every day and sometimes I feel fine. Can you try to just take each day as it comes - it isn't long until Wednesday. Flowers

Unsureofitall · 18/12/2022 09:59

Hi. I know it's hard but don't overthink it too much. Symptoms are different in every pregnancy & they can switch up daily. Like PP said, take it day by day. Good luck Flowers

Symptoms come and go, you'll have good days and bad days and each pregnancy is different, cramping is normal in pregnancy it's usually just everything stretching, hope all goes well for you 🙏

TheWeeLittleDonkey · 18/12/2022 11:07

I’m so so sorry for your losses OP ❤️

I’ve had 4 MC’s so please know the comment comes with love.

You’ve asked for realism, and the realistic and rational thing (which I personally found hard to accept) is that no amount of googling and asking other people online can tell you what’s going on or what’s happening. No one can tell you if you’re going to have a miscarriage or not.

With everything in early pregnancy you can find stories where it ends well and where it ends badly.

Symptoms coming and going is common in pregnancy no matter the outcome. In itself it doesn’t mean 100% yes you’re absolutely having a miscarriage. Even having bleeding with blood clots doesn’t mean you’re 100% having a miscarriage, although really that’s the one thing that’s a very bad sign.

Unfortunately the only way you’ll get answers is through a scan. It’s shit. I’m sorry you’re stressed. Pregnancy after loss is so much harder.

Good luck op ❤️

Thanks all. You're all very kind. I really thought I was a very calm, balanced and rational person; turns out that goes out of the window in pregnancy!

Today I feel really, really tired so am thinking I just need to chill out and try to stop panicking.

Thanks again. I'm sorry for others who have had losses. It's total shit.

It really is totally totally shit.

If it helps, the stats are all on your side ❤️❤️

Hi,

I’m so sorry to hear about losses and can completely sympathise with what you’re going through.
I had a miscarriage at 13 weeks in June with two previous scan showing strong heart beats. I am now pregnant (6+4) and have been experiencing nausea, sore breasts and tiredness since week 4 and then all of a sudden on Wednesday all symptoms disappeared! I am also due for an early scan on Wednesday but I can’t help googling my symptoms thinking of the worst. I have also spoken to a few people who have said pregnancy symptoms fluctuate and it’s nothing to worry about.
good luck for Wednesday and I hope it all goes well. X

Thank you - I feel even more symptom - less today so I'm not hopeful for weds; but trying to stay positive. It's so hard. Good luck to you too.

Since yesterday evening all my symptoms returned I was exhausted by 6pm and felt sick so that's almost 6 entire days being symptoms free then all of a sudden they return. You said your symptoms disappeared on Sunday, so don't lose hope it could be completely norma but I totally understand what how you're feeling and it's so easy to overanalyse every feeling in the body. What time is your scan tomorrow? For me the time is going awfully slow I just want the scan to come along as soon as possible I even called asking if they could see me earlier but they couldn't.

Blue2020 · 20/12/2022 08:36

I had a mmc in April. I’m pregnant again now (20weeks), this time at 8 weeks my symptoms disappeared for 7 days between 8+4 and 9+4. I decided to go for a private scan at 9+1 convinced it was going to turn out the same and it was still going and there was a heartbeat. So it can be normal but it’s just hard to tell anything at this point.

Mfitz1987 · 20/12/2022 08:56

@Blue2020 that's really reassuring to hear. Has your anxiety eased as the pregnancy has gone on?

Blue2020 · 20/12/2022 10:35

@Mfitz1987 It improved after the 12 week scan, I’m due to have the 20 week scan soon and I think after that I will hopefully feel less anxious.

Mfitz1987 · 20/12/2022 11:50

Good luck for your 20 week scan. I have been told once you start feeling the baby kick the anxiety eases too 🙂

Writerscompanion · 21/12/2022 11:46

Wishing you the very best with your scan today @keepaweatheredeye Flowers

keepaweatheredeye · 21/12/2022 12:31

Thank you. All was fine at my 8 week scan this morning. Conscious I've been here before - twice - but it's nice to have had nice news.

Oh OP! I am so glad to see that your scan was fine. I don't think you were expecting that. I am very happy for you.

Writerscompanion · 21/12/2022 14:31

Really glad to hear that OP. Flowers

keepaweatheredeye · 21/12/2022 18:38

You're all lovely. We have a date for the 12 week too - I'm already dreading it but it was lovely to have nice news.

OP posts:
BCxx · 21/12/2022 18:42

@keepaweatheredeye sending you hope for your 12 week scan, glad you got good news today!

TheShellBeach · 02/02/2023 23:26

How was the 12 week scan?

keepaweatheredeye · 03/02/2023 04:31

Thank you - all was well! Currently nearly 15 weeks, this is the rough bit as symptoms are again waning so my anxiety is playing up again. Just need to accept that this is the way now!

OP posts:
Glitterstars · 03/02/2023 04:40

not unusual for symptoms to ease at 15 weeks. From about 14 weeks I had no symptoms at all. Pregnancy is a very anxious time but you have got to 15 weeks and the chance of miscarriage is very low. Try and enjoy the second trimester as this is when you will feel your best. X
