Threatened miscarriage 11 weeks pregnant - still bleeding!!

I had a threatened miscarriage 1 week ago - heavy bleeding and very large clots. I had a scan the following day and all was fine - baby was the right size with a strong heartbeat. They couldn’t find the reason for the bleed but they could still see a tiny amount of blood up there which was quite a way away from the baby. I’m still spotting 7 days on with a little bit of cramping. The spotting goes from red to brown and back to red again. Has anyone else had an experience like this? How long is the bleeding supposed to last?

I was around 11 weeks, 2 sundays ago i stood up and felt a gush of warmth felt like i was weeing myself but i knew what it was, ran to the toilet and i bled for what felt lile forever but reality was a few minutes, i passed 2 little clots and then everything stopped...i didnt even make a mark on the pad i used after, had zero pain before during or after.... nearly 2 weeks on and my boobs still hurt my stomach is swollen and hard especially at night, i show very early so i truly look 5 months in the evening which is so hurtful to see everytime i go past a mirror, having to hide it around my daughter and step sons. Feel like im being delusional even thinking there is a possibility a viable baby is still inside me after that but my bodys just carrying on like nothing happened...and really feels like nothing happened as it was beginning and ending so fast...but i know it happened every second of every day. This would be my second miscarriage in under a year, my last one was in march and that was undeniably a miscarriage, started spotting...then cramping, contractions then the ordeal of passing it then the aftermath of weeks of bleeding...none of this happened. Know i need to go to the docs im just terrified, my scan was due on the 3rd jan but i cancelled immediately after i bled. Feel like i need to wait another week or 2, 1 because i still need to the hope to get me through the rest of the christmas period and 2 because confirming its a definite second loss is terrifying for so many reasons. How is everything with you im so sorry anyone has to experience this mental torture 😩

@Casiemace what you wrote is exactly what happened to me I felt the worst had happened too but I'm still pregnant so there really is hope at the end of the tunnel, it might not be bad news for you. My midwife told me aslong as it didn't progress to filling pads it's absolutely fine I have not bled since and my pregnancy has progressed, I didn't bleed in my 2 previous pregnancys so yo me it's this only meant 1 thing but thankfully that wasn't the case, I have everything crossed for you and @Lbailey11 ❤️

Im so glad you have a success story 💜💙 Im scared im being delusional and its all phantom cause my heads trying to make sense of thinking something for 8 weeks, to it all ending to now doubting if it ended at all. How far along were you when it happened and now if you dont mind me asking? Did u pass tissue too? I cant find anyone to talk to about this particular problem as usually u know for sure if youve lost it so it seems so difficult to find a talking point. I had bleeding at 9 weeks for a couple of days, then it started again at 11 weeks as you describe. It lasted until 15 weeks.
I was also told after checks and 4 early scans, that unless I'm filling a pad within a couple of hours, then try not to worry.
I also found gushing happened after a few of the scans where they had to press more to get a good view. So my consultant thinks it may be down to a weak vein or vessel maybe.
Currently 16+2 and this is the longest I've gone without any bleeding.
Obviously I'm still super anxious but think that's normal after scares like ours x

I am currently 5+5 and today I have had really bad period cramps all day and then some brown discharge (only got a liner on) just wondered if this is normal as I’m also hoping it’s not a miscarriage 🥲

@CMG92 that sounds pretty normal hun its about the right time for implantation just make a note of it and if nothing else happens just make sure u tell them at your first appointment when goodluck hope everything is alright for u xxx

Oh bless you that sounds like a rollercoaster youve been on! So glad everything is ok though and bleeding has subsided 🙏🏼its all nothing but worry cant focus on anything at all. This has given me some hope but i just dont want to get them up too much so just have to wait it out for now xxx good luck ladies xxx

Sorry for being off topic but @Casiemace I really think you should take another pregnancy test, it sounds like could still be pregnant and will need that dating scan and checks that go with it x

Yes youre definitely right @BraveFaceScaredInside im going to test sunday exactly 2 weeks to the day it happened, if positive i will definitely speak to the midwife she was lovely when i told her and ive got her number she said to contact any time so i will do that xxx

@Casiemace thanks so much that sounds reassuring! I have had some paracetamol and the pain has subsided now so hoping it stays that way!

Yes I had this. I had just assumed the worst. I think mine took 3 days total. Heartbreaking. Dc is 3 now

@Casiemace @BraveFaceScaredInside @Kladebs @CMG92 so a little update for you guys……I am now 13+4. Just over a week after my first big bleed I had another bleed, went to hospital and had another scan all was still fine. 1 week later I had yet another bleed and baby was still fine but what they found was a subchorionic hematoma which is why I keep bleeding!! If you research, it could be exactly what you guys have as well - they don’t always find it on a scan!! I’m still bleeding/spotting now but it does ease a little until I’m either sick or I sneeze or cough which then seems to set off the bleeding again!! Hoping this can offer you some hope 🤞🏻

thanks for the update @Lbailey11 I am pleased everything is still going well in your pregnancy and they have found the cause! I can’t wait to get rid of these cramps 2 full days now and my thighs ache with it, as it’s still brown discharge and not red I’m keeping everything crossed it will all be ok 🙏 xx

@Lbailey11 amazing news !! So pleased all is ok and youve got some answers, still extremely stressful for you im sure 😩 @CMG92 how are u doing? Things still the same or calmed down? I cant get a reply from my midwife, 2 day response for midwife and cant get through to maternity ward, i dont even know who to call at this point for an emergency scan. So frustrated i cancelled mine for tomorrow 🥺 what did you ladies do to get your emergency scans?

@Casiemace hi after 2 bad days yesterday my cramps virtually disappeared and only had a bit of bd aroubd teatime when I wiped. I don’t feel like I have any other symptoms atm but as the day goes on I do feel tired. Hope you get in contact with the midwife soon! I have my booking appt in 2weeks so Il be 8weeks so hoping they can advise me then what’s normal etc x

@Casiemace i don’t know how close you are to the hospital but you can always walk into the maternity ward and speak to someone - they will then hopefully get you booked in either with the early pregnancy unit or the emergency gynaecology!!

Just bit the bullet went to maternity told them what happened and they gave me an emergency scan within an hour and there it was my baby with a lovely heartbeat 🥺cant believe how lucky i feel and grateful and so glad i found this thread because i dont think id have felt confident enough to go there otherwise. Just goes to show you have to trust your gut! Im 13 weeks 5 days 🙏🏼no explanation yet as to why but have a proper scan booked for the 17th and midwifes on monday! Hope you are all ok xx
