Me and my fiancé would like to start TTC (ideally we would like to get married before)

Curious to know how old people were when they had their first baby?

currently 25, will be 26 early next year

41, in some ways I wish younger (took a few years to conceive) as my body is so broken and I'm so tired. Also my parents are quite old so I feel sad that they will have less time with DC.
But I also think it's been a good age as I've established my career, financially stable, done loads of travel and don't feel that I'm missing out on 'partying'. I feel like I'm settled to just relax and concentrate on DC.

28 and then 30 when I had number 2... then got pregnant again at 32 accidentally..

Boooooot · 11/12/2022 21:58

20 and 27. Married 7 weeks after number 2 was born!

Dyra · 11/12/2022 21:59

Married at 28, but DC1 wasn't conceived until 32 after 3 years of trying due to fertility issues. Born a couple months after my 33rd birthday.

CloudyDreamerZZZ · 11/12/2022 21:59

32

Tried for 3 years before having fertility treatment. I felt old and tired at 32 !!!

Wish it would have happened sooner and younger.

42 (just turned) there was zero chance of me being ready for kids in my 20’s! Or even up to my mid 30’s.

Married at 31, first baby at 36, second baby due at 38.

ALittleBitofVitriol · 11/12/2022 22:24

20
Yes we were already married

Then 23, 26 & 29.

We've been married 20 years this coming May, and I just had our surprise #5 at nearly 40! This was much easier in my 20s. But we are much more relaxed parenting a newborn this time around.

I see I'm the oldest on the thread. I started TTC at 40. It took 7 years and 10 IUIs/IVFs until I had my lovely twins.
I know 47 is quite old to have newborns, but I was a "young" 47 (now 50) and very active and fit. I'm well established in my career, and we'll have no money worries.
My parents are healthy at 92/93 and love playing with my toddlers.
I loved having my 20s and 30s to do what I wanted, travel the world, etc. So now I'm happy to just focus on my kids (and work).

34 when we conceived -35 when DD was born.
We (DH and I) own our house plus have a rental property, great high paying careers, well travelled, no money worries.

Each to their own but personally I couldn't imagine having a child in my early/mid 20s.

Ps - conceived 1st cycle trying and had a very easy pregnancy and birth. Good luck with your TCC journey OP

I agree with this; each to their own!

We all have different lives. I don’t understand why some PPs felt the need to be rude and leave confused emojis on others’ posts. Just don’t contribute.

We had our first at 22, now in our 30s and we are definitely the youngest parents of our DDS class in her private class. It bother me in the slightest. Our lives have turned out incredibly well and we’ve made it work despite some negative opinions when we announced my pregnancy with her. I wouldn’t change a single thing if I could go back and do it all again. I am pregnant with number 4 and our children have an amazing life; they have a fabulous education and get to travel the world, they’re growing up in a lovely home with parents in a solid, happy marriage and no money worries.
There are many children in our DCs school in very similar circumstances with parents of all ages. I don’t judge any woman for the age she become a mother.

So lovely to see this about your parents. My granny is 92 and adores playing with my children. We sadly lost my grandfather this year but he was much the same.

for some random reason I always wanted to be 32 when I had my first. I think it stemmed from my slight crush on Davina McCall back in the day and I think she was 32 when she had her first. I was indeed 32, was 33 the following month.

Superstar22 · 11/12/2022 23:10

25 and 26 now 36. Absolutely brilliant, I’m delighted. Seems so much easier than friends who started at 36 & are now 46

Clairejay34 · 11/12/2022 23:10

Married at 27, first dd at 28, second dd at 30. I'm 32 now and definitely done!
