Me and my fiancé would like to start TTC (ideally we would like to get married before)

Curious to know how old people were when they had their first baby?

currently 25, will be 26 early next year

40 at conception, 41 at birth.

Silvers11 · 11/12/2022 21:05

I was 20 - and 24 when I had my second. Don't regret it for a minute. Still young enough to really enjoy life when they became young adults. lots more energy too at those ages than I would have had 10 years later.

Meeb · 11/12/2022 21:06

25 for my first & felt like a good age.

19, 21 and 26.
Unmarried then, still unmarried now 20 years later and no plans to change that!

cutiemcsweetie · 11/12/2022 21:14
  1. Perfect age for me. I have zero energy now and need so much more sleep at this age (34)!
TrudyProud · 11/12/2022 21:16

34 when we conceived -35 when DD was born.
We (DH and I) own our house plus have a rental property, great high paying careers, well travelled, no money worries.

Each to their own but personally I couldn't imagine having a child in my early/mid 20s.

Ps - conceived 1st cycle trying and had a very easy pregnancy and birth. Good luck with your TCC journey OP

I guess I just need to do it when the time feels right for me and my fiancé, I was intrigued to know if people were married before having their first baby and if that should be a priority first

Getting ready to TTC but if all goes to plan I’ll be 32 (31 now).

@KimberleyTaylor yes married. We conceived the week after our honeymoon

DearieMeWhatsUp · 11/12/2022 21:20

Just 32, and ttc no 2 at nearly 36. We got married when our DC was 3 and in hindsight would have been much less hassle to get married before having babies!

24 with my first, personally wouldn't of done it any earlier I think that was the right time for me.

Colourinsidethelines · 11/12/2022 21:22

Got married at just 30, first baby at 31.

Herejustforthisone · 11/12/2022 21:23
  1. Was so fit that I bounced back, had bags of money by then and had seen just about every corner of the world.
Baconand · 11/12/2022 21:24

Married first, wouldn’t have done it unmarried personally.

moreparmesan · 11/12/2022 21:27

Follow your heart, OP! I think if you’re engaged and planning to marry that’s all that matters. 20s are perfect

kikisparks · 11/12/2022 21:28

34

I started TTC at 29 but had fertility issues. It was an incredibly hard time but I wouldn’t start earlier even if I could go back in time- I really enjoyed my 20s travelling, building my career, buying a house, and notwithstanding the fertility struggles had some great holidays and fun times in my early 30s. I’m delighted to have my DD now and have no desire to have more.

Fedupmum21 · 11/12/2022 21:30

27 for my first, 30 for my second and will be a month shy of 32 when my third is born- and very much finished with making babies!

KnittedCardi · 11/12/2022 21:30

Married at 23, babies at 30 and 36. We didn't want them before that as we were busy living our lives and having fun. Perfect for us. The gap was planned too, and again suited us just fine.

CatchHimDerry · 11/12/2022 21:31

Would have preferred a little younger but life turned out slightly differently and met DH a little later (He is 38)

Hoping for another at some point, but not just yet!

kikisparks · 11/12/2022 21:31

Nobody in my circle had kids before age 29.

tedgran · 11/12/2022 21:32

21 when I had DS and DD 18 months later when I was just 23.
