Can I eat a Big Mac?

I know junk food isn't ideal and I've been really healthy so far so just want to treat myself. Do you know if we can have Big Macs? 🤔 craving it SOOO bad but worried the sauce or cheese won't be pasteurised! Thank you

It'll be fine :)

RoachTheHorse · 24/11/2022 16:02

Do it.

ChessieDarling · 24/11/2022 16:03

Of course

purplecorkheart · 24/11/2022 16:03

Everything in McDonalds would be pasteurised

gamerchick · 24/11/2022 16:05

Dunno, can you open your mouth that wide? 😉

Classica · 24/11/2022 16:07

you're familiar with the squares of plastic cheese they use in McDonalds and you think they might not be pasteurised?

hauntedvagina · 24/11/2022 16:07

Eat the Big Mac, make it a meal and get yourself six nuggets as a side.

RedToothBrush · 24/11/2022 16:15

Have a word with yourself and stop being ridiculous.

Feef83 · 24/11/2022 16:17

I've been really healthy so far

You’re 5 weeks pregnant!

But yes - go for it!

AriettyHomily · 24/11/2022 16:17

I think McDonald's is probably the most pasteurised thing you could chose.

I had a daily sausage McMuffin for the first twelve weeks.

Feef83 · 24/11/2022 16:18

I have never heard of anyone getting food poisoning for Macdonalds!

This. With bells on.
It’s going to be a very long 9 months otherwise.

I’d eat all the crap you can now in case you get GD later on (like I did).

babyboybluewithtwox · 24/11/2022 16:22

How do you get through pregnancy without McDonald's?! 😱

Dustyblue · 24/11/2022 16:23

I knew the answer before I opened your thread.

YES and have a cheeseburger and fries too.

dementedpixie · 24/11/2022 16:23

Yes you can have a big mac. You could even have a mcflurry! Everything will be pasteurised

Rockingcloggs · 24/11/2022 16:23

@Baconand

YES!! I too got GD and couldn't control - I ended up living on fresh air and spittle for the last two months!! Funnily enough, 1st thing I did was make sure DH fetched me a Big Mac meal to the hospital with him on the night visit!

littlepeanuthopes · 24/11/2022 16:24

I guess this all makes sense. Just didn't even really know what pasteurised means so thought I'd ask. It's all new to me. I have my answer now thanks.

Just read theNHS guidelines and let that guide you.

2 weeks of eating the healthiest meals while craving pizza and burgers and wine feels like forever

Unfortunately, I think you’ll be unable to find anywhere where food has been more disinfected to death than McDonalds.

dementedpixie · 24/11/2022 16:29

Anything unpasteurised will say it is. A fast food restaurant is not going to use unpasteurised products as they don't last as long (they heat treat the products to kill bacteria)

As I say…. You have a long and winding road ahead of you!

Dustyblue · 24/11/2022 16:30

You're ok OP, no harm in asking. But truly- my Aunt a very senior Obstetrician who ate the odd piece of brie and even charcuterie (gasp) - her 3 adult kids are healthy.

Eat your Big Mac and get a double (I want one really badly now- thanks for that temptation!)

TheRookie · 24/11/2022 16:30

When I was 5 weeks pregnant I lived on ready salted walkers and fizzy water, probably until 17 weeks ish! There's no need to eat any differently to how you normally do except the food that's ACTUALLY banned. Just follow NHS guidelines. There's no need to force yourself to be 'healthy'.

Thank you 😊 ! Feel like I've gone off asking any questions for a while! Some come out silly to the braver and more experienced. Going to try to just try and not worry about things now! X
