Can pregnancy test turn positive almost a month after chemical?

Hello.

I had a chemical in the beginning of October. And had positive ovulation test on 15-16 this month. I started spotting from 15 every day.

Today I had a pregnancy test and it's positive? Is it because of the chemical or could it be an ectopic? Would
I have ovulated regardless of the ectopic?

I really have doubts it could be positive for a new pregnancy so soon after ovulation.

If you ovulated on the 15th or 16th that would make you 8 or 9 days post ovulation, that's definitely not too early to test positive! Was it faint or strong?

Definitely not as strong as the second line, but a clear positive.

How do you know you had a chemical was it just because you had a delayed bleed? Did you have a negative test in-between the two positives?

I ask as I recently had a similar situation and had a strong positive 6dpo but turns out I was 7 weeks pregnant not 3 and the bleeding I'd experienced the month previous was from a hematoma! Bodies are strange,

I hope it is a positive for you!

This is what my doctor assumed as I had positive tests, but the levels in hcg were dropping or increasing very slowly. At that time nothing could be seen on the scan.
The bleeding was heavy and for several days. I didn’t take a test in between... now I wish I did..

Me and my husband were only once intimate on the 16th as I experienced some difficulties emotionally after the loss. I also had the spotting from 15 to the day... I was convinced it was another month gone. Even went out and had quite a lot of wine... I am really confused.

It’s most likely a new pregnancy OP but for peace of mind you might want to ask for a blood test at this stage

Yes, thank you. I will ask for blood tests and have a scan tomorrow evening to rule out ectopic.

@TimeforZeroes , I'm guessing the same. I also had low hcg levels to begin with... And what about the spotting since ovulation?...

I had a chemical pregnancy and the next month I was pregnant! I thought I was pregnant from the month before but my dates added up and I ovulated just after I had the chemical and was a new pregnancy. I think you're definitely pregnant if you're getting positive test Hope it's the same for you as it was for me. Good luck hope all goes well!

Just to add to what I wrote up there I had chemical on the 2nd of may then got a positive test on the 25th of may so it's definitely possible. Ring your doctor to see if they could possibly test for pregnancy and see what they say :)

With the heavy bleeding you experienced and your line not being too strong, think chances of ectopic are very slim - ectopics usually have much higher HCG and show as strong BFPs, the levels just don’t grow normally. Hope the scan is reassuring. And I wouldn’t even think twice about the drinking - a LOT of women drink before getting a BFP, your LO has only just implanted and has barely been exposed to anything. Personally I had 2 miscarriages during completely sober periods pre-conception and then an all weekend drinking party just before getting my last BFP, 21weeks and all fine. x

@ttc2603 happy to hear things went well for you and thank you for sharing. I hope with all my heart everything will be ok for me as well. What puzzles me is the continuous spotting... but I guess I will just have to wait...

Try not to think the worst I know it's easier said than done. I had spotting for a few days and I think it was just implantation bleeding as baby is fine, so that could be the case for you too! Went to the scan today. They didn’t find any potential ectopic, but said there didn’t appear to be a new pregnancy either considering how the uterus looked. I will have the blood tests in the next days.

The fact you've been bleeding a while reminds me of my ectopic. I had one and my hcg wasn't high even though it turned out I was 8 weeks in. I would try and get referred to the EPU so they can do blood tests over 48 hours

Also when I was having mine an ovulation test showed as positive.. have you tried another to see if it says the same?
