Can pregnancy test turn positive almost a month after chemical?

Hello.

I had a chemical in the beginning of October. And had positive ovulation test on 15-16 this month. I started spotting from 15 every day.

Today I had a pregnancy test and it's positive? Is it because of the chemical or could it be an ectopic? Would
I have ovulated regardless of the ectopic?

I really have doubts it could be positive for a new pregnancy so soon after ovulation.

Many thanks.

Definitely possible!! I ovulated 3 weeks after my early loss (so around 3-5 days later than I normally would) and got a new postive exactly a month after my m/c bleeding started. I'm now 8 weeks pregnant!!

@B1993 good to hear things are going well for you now. Fingers crossed.

I went today for the fist blood test and I ll have the second on Friday. I should know after that how things are.

@Tryingagain01, sorry, I've just gone back and read some of your updates. I had some red bleeding this pregancy but managed to see a strong heartbeat at 6 weeks ultrasound. I hope everything works out for you and good luck with your tests!! 💖💖

My hcg came at 28. I'm guessing too low to have any hope...

@Tryingagain01 i did have some unusual pain in my back and blood, I just happened to do a test randomly one day as I was trying anyway. I needed surgery but happily conceived my baby a few months after who has celebrated his 1st birthday recently.

im so glad you got a blood test, it's good to rule out an ectopic just incase. Sorry to hear about the low hcg reading, I will keep hoping for a good outcome for you x

Tryingagain01 · 26/10/2022 20:33

@Chica1990 thanks. 🤗🤗 Wish you many more years of happiness along your son and family.

How are you doing @Tryingagain01 ?

Tryingagain01 · 29/10/2022 20:36

@Chica1990 thanks so much for asking. I took the blood tests - 28 on Wednesday and 37 on Friday. Not very encouraging for a new viable pregnancy, I will repeat on Monday the test. But at least I can rule out ectopic.

My breasts are quite sore, but I still have to keep my hopes under control. I'm also obsessing over the one night drinking 2 days before the positive, wondering if this was the problem, as I had quite a lot- from 5 pm to 2am (one bottle of prosecco and almost one of wine with my husband). And I think I had more as he fell asleep and I stayed up drinking and crying... Completely convinced that with the spotting for so many days there could be no pregnancy.

Thanks again and I really hope to be able to share a happy outcome like yours as soon as possible. The support means a lot!

Wishing you luck OP. Please let us know how you get on with the blood test on Monday Xx

Echoing what @Mydoggosarethebest said! 💜

Tryingagain01 · 29/10/2022 21:23

@Mydoggosarethebest @B1993 🤗 thank you both so much for caring. It's sometimes hard to discuss with people around. So great to be able to share here.

We'll see how Monday goes.

@Tryingagain01 oh you wouldn't have done anything wrong, the frustrating thing unfortunately is sometimes things can be totally out of our control and sadly we dont have any understanding of it.

Out of interest, did they say they had ruled out ectopic when they gave you your results? Fingers crossed on Monday/Tuesday you have some clarity x

Tryingagain01 · 30/10/2022 07:11

@Chica1990 , they rulled out ectopic from the previous month, as if it was ectopic of almost 8 weeks hcg should have been much higher.

So it's a new pregnancy. There aren't good signs now either as the hcg is low and slowly raising. So I am prepared as well for a miscarriage. Spotting has stopped few days ago though...

Thanks for sticking around and being so comforting! Big help in these sensitive times. 🤗

The progesteron results came out. It's 17.6 and should be at least 35 in pregnancy... Wondering if miscarriage is imminent already. Still waiting for hcg.

52 hcg... So I just hope it will be like the last time. So it can end as soon as possible.

Thank you all for the support.

So sorry OP xxx

Chica1990 · 31/10/2022 21:50

@Tryingagain01 sorry it isn't better news, will they be doing another blood test?

I wish I could do more to help but glad you have this space to discuss what's going on ❤️

Tryingagain01 · 01/11/2022 06:31

I will repeat the tests on Thursday, but it's already pretty much clear. I at least hope this could be an indication of low progesteron and solving this, will solve the problem. As o did get pregnant 3 times since May...

Thanks

I also had in June/July a medical abortion due to a blighted ovum, which practically happens by reducing progesterone levels... maybe this produced the problem...
