Hello,

Planned c-section mamas - how long did you stay in hospital for afterwards please? I have my section in a couple of days!

2 nights, but could have gone after 1 night. I chose to stay for extra help with feeding x

soggydigestives · 22/10/2022 10:51

I was home asap after 24 hours. Get up and about and showered as soon as you can.

Leelee33x · 22/10/2022 10:55

@Glitterheart @soggydigestives thanks everyone. I’m so surprised, I thought they kept you in a week! 🤣

I stayed 2 nights, would have gone home the next day but I had high blood pressure in pregnancy so was kept an extra 24 hours for monitoring

ShadowPuppets · 22/10/2022 21:42

Had baby by elcs at 11.30, was let out 7.30 the next day. Second birth though!

Violettaa · 22/10/2022 21:43

No where near a week!

I was three nights and that was considered a long time. Partly because DD was born in the evening, partly because of an issue with my catheter.

I’ll be doing it again next year, and hoping it will just be a night or two.

FTMFML · 22/10/2022 21:48

ELCS last year.

930am ELCS.
They wanted to keep us overnight till morning but I took self discharge that night. Would have been out by 8/9pm if it wasn't for shift change over and having to have a final chat with Dr.

  • I do not recommend self discharging as of course it carries more risk but it was best for us(I'm a nurse... the worst kind of patient)
PeaceLily2000 · 22/10/2022 21:51

Baby born 11am on Wednesday. Discharged at 7.00pm on Thursday

Notthisonemummy · 22/10/2022 21:56

I went home the next day, despite hemorrhaging fairly severely and having a few more complications. It was an elective after an emergency, so I was more prepared than the first time around and just didn't want to stay any longer, and it actually wasn't as bad as the first one, as far as I was concerned.

Bobbybobbins · 22/10/2022 21:59

One night in after my DS2 who was ELCS. He was born at 40 weeks, feeding well. Had two nights after DS1 with EMCS as struggled to establish feeding and he was 37 weeks.

Medoca · 22/10/2022 22:15

Born at 1900, home at 1600 next day. Get up as soon as you can, drink lots, keep moving - that’s my advice. Had no issues, stopped the paracetamol after three days. Went out for lunch and a walk in the park on day 3. A year on and barely any scar. Best experience ever.

Leelee33x · 23/10/2022 11:55

Thanks so much everyone. Got my section tomorrow, so hoping all goes well!

I will be staying in for 5 nights but that is because of other health reasons, so we need extra monitoring. Otherwise, I would probably only be in for 1-2 nights.

blebbleb · 23/10/2022 18:18

I stayed in for 5 nights after due to other health issues. Hope to have an elective as I'm pregnant now but I'll be out asap.

Leelee33x · 23/10/2022 20:30

Thank you both x

I went home the next day after an emergency c-section. They said if I was up and about walking the same day I could go home the next day so got up as soon as I could!
Having an elective this time and hoping I'll be home as quickly!

Leelee33x · 23/10/2022 23:09

@BabyB2022 thank you :)
