Hi,

Has anyone had a scan around 5 weeks and not seen anything but then went on to see something later.

Three prev miscarriages, holding out for hope here.

Could they see a gestational sac? Just looks like an empty black area. At 5+1 that is all that could be seen on mine. At 6+1 we saw a heartbeat so a lot had changed.

Nope, they didn't see anything at all. No sac. Could be that in earlier than five weeks but not sure.

Are you dates correct?

5 weeks I saw a sac was like a blob
6 weeks HB

Was it NHS?

Never heard of private doing them at 5. I find it shocking tbh if they do. Between 7/8 is recommended for best as the anxiety it can cause.

AutumnScream · 04/10/2022 17:52

Could be really early still. When did they tell you return?

This was NHS.

I've had previous ectopic, and also my cycle is erratic due to PCOS and on clomid so hard to tell. My last period was 27/8/22 so I should be around 5 weeks.

They took my bloods and told me they'd call me later today to let me know what the level was, as it should be around 1500 at 5 weeks she said.

However, they have not called today so it must be tomorrow now.

I am so upset and I don't even know if this is the end or not now, definitely has caused more worry.

Hi,
I just wanted to say that I can understand the anxiety and worry - I’ve suffered early loss before too and remember the days being uncertain I. Between scans. - my previous pregnancy I had scans at 4 and 5 weeks with bloods every 2 days.
waiting is so very hard but you’re taking a good step by connecting with others on here.

Sending lots of comfort and strength,
x

It's so horrible isn't it. Did you see anything at your 4 week scan and did you have a successful pregnancy.

OP posts:
Kappi · 04/10/2022 20:47

it is - and one of the things that helped me during the wait was coming on here.
It was tough as it was my first pregnancy so I had nothing to compare it to, if that makes sense.

No, nothing at the 4.
and nothing till part way through 5, - then heartbeat at 6.
Sadly miscarried at 8+4 — a missed miscarriage.

Im pregnant again - and I’m back in that same anxious waiting and saw your post.
Youre not alone in this - although the replies are strangers, it’s a place of understanding x

Oh god I'm so sorry, I can't imagine how that would feel seeing a heartbeat and then having a missed miscarriage.

Although I've had three in the past, they've all been early on before I've seen anything.

How far are you on now? Sending you lots of well wishes.

It was tough,
It’s a club that nobody wants to join - but I think it’s a club of some of the strongest women I know.

im only 4+4, so early days still. Doesn’t help the anxiety does it?

I hope your bloods come back as you hope, you’ve got solidarity in the women on here. We’re all in together xx

Thank you so much. You too.

I think we must be around the same stage. Would be good to follow each others journey. Do you have any scans or anything booked in yet or what's your next steps?

Didn't want to read and run..5 weeks is still very early and your days could be out by a few.
I've been where you are (2 losses then pregnant). It's awful and an anxious time, but best of luck for your bloods. Take each day as it comes; if your bloods are up then can rescan and hopefully you will see something. Best of luck - stay strong/positive 🤞🏻

Kappi · 04/10/2022 22:26

Yeah sure - I’m booked in for scan on 5+5, got twinging / discomfort and the anxiety often gets the better of me. Have to try really hard to keep myself back on track!

every day feels long doesn’t it! Such a journey! X x

genericusername789 · 04/10/2022 23:24

@hopingthisistheone @Kappi
Good luck to both of you. I really hope you both get your rainbows ❤️

PaisleyP · 05/10/2022 00:06

Me with my first 2 pregnancies all they could see was a thickened womb lining at 5 weeks. Nothing else. Went back at 6 weeks and could see a heartbeat and what not good luck x

hopingthisistheone · 05/10/2022 10:40

Thank you all.

I'm currently waiting on blood results to see what my hcg is. Phoned early this morning but still waiting to hear. No news is good news maybe? :( wish me luck.

I think unless there is a worry or cause to think of an ectopic pregnancy, scans these early are only good to produce anxiety. Even waiting just another week will give a better chance to see or understand what’s happening.

Thank you I do believe this is very true.
Due to previous ectopic, I think this is why they checked.

Blood results are just under 2000 and so a sac should have been seen. Another possible ectopic.

I could have written this myself, went for a scan yesterday couldn't see anything. Had bloods done yesterday with a result of hcg of 3100.

They could see fluid in one tube that the pain was over, I feel like I'm wading through treacle today. Mind is all over the place.

Hoping for a positive outcome for you

How do they check the tubes? I don't think they did this yesterday but assuming I'll need to go in to check. I'm so sorry you are going through this. It truly is awful. :(

OP posts:
Feathe · 05/10/2022 14:05

I had a really uncomfortable scan and she said she was checking everything. I was scanned for around 40 minutes, so I guess she could see them whilst scanning.

It's awful, I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

NalaNana · 05/10/2022 14:13

@hopingthisistheone they can usually see the tubes and ovaries on the ultrasound x

hopingthisistheone · 05/10/2022 14:16

I'm back in tomorrow for a scan again, to rule out an ectopic. @Feathe what do they do now for you?

Hope your scan goes well, more blood tests tomorrow and depending on the results will depend on treatment.

If hcg levels are rising and another scan confirms that something has gone wrong then it will be surgical intervention.

If hcg levels are stagnant or decreasing they will monitor me with bloods and hope that things happen naturally.
