Interesting thanks guys, yeah I had read that about limiting how long babies should be in car seats, the pram we want has a carry cot thing anyway for newborn but just wasn’t sure whether the car seat that clips on would be useful too or whether to get one of the fixed ones that you can turn towards you if you know what I mean.

Oh @LauraA31 I fully sympathise with the getting up in the night, I’d assumed this was a later pregnancy thing when the baby was putting more pressure on your bladder but I’m constantly up for a wee!

We’re on holiday and the tiredness is kicking my bum a bit, feeling a bit guilty about how tired I am but nothing I can do about it. Husband is being absolutely amazing and cooking all meals etc god love him but I do feel a bit bad.

LauraA31 · 28/09/2022 09:44

@AliceinSlumberland the one we wanted and parents have ordered has the clips to make the car chair fit if needed but also has a carry cot and a seat unit which can also be used from birth.. I think we will mainly use the carry cot attachment at the start..

I decided to go with the travel system because me and the boyfriend love going on days out and taking the dog for walks and the pram we got is perfect for everything from birth to the little monster walking haha! It’s a hard decision though!

I also thought it was a later pregnancy thing, started straight away haha!! I hope that you enjoy your holiday though!

10 weeks today and feel so much better knowing im in double figures, it’s strange how double figures makes everything feel a lot calmer..

chasingtherainbow1 · 28/09/2022 09:46

@Tubbytele I feel a little better than yesterday thanks for asking. I slept from 6pm until 8 am this morning so I think that's done me some good. Just feels like a bad cold now. But was awful yesterday felt awful. Just worried about the baby and hope everything is ok

Gilm0reGirl · 28/09/2022 10:00

@AliceinSlumberland hope you have a lovely holiday and the rest helps you feel less exhausted.

Marshmallowmountain · 28/09/2022 10:29

Had a scan today at I thought 10w1d but dated 9w6 days. Nurse said the two days is fine. Am I too early for nub theory??

@MrsC2018 thanks for your reassuring words, I am hope if we catch it it'll be ok!
@Tropicana1 thanks for checking in, I had a cough last night and chest feels slightly tight (but this could be psychosomatic 😅) but aside from that I'm ok and so hoping we have escaped it! Although it can take a few days to show up so not sure yet.
We don't have any tests with us but might get some from th pharmacy if we can!

Actually having a nice day today, went for a long walk down the beach and now on a sunbed and waiting for some drinks! Will go swimming soon 😃 no nausea today yet really. So nice when it stays away a few hours!

Re bladders and needing to pee at night - apparently early pregnancy is bad for this as our womb is still down low so as it's getting bigger it presses more on the bladder. During kid pregnancy it's better as it rises up and puts less stress on the bladder then towards the end it goes down again, and hence more needing to pee once more! With DD I basically had to get up at least 2-3 times the whole pregnancy to pee haha but did notice it worse towards the beginning and end!

Skylark1990 · 28/09/2022 10:32

During *mid pregnancy not kid pregnancy

AliceinSlumberland · 28/09/2022 10:57

Thank you @LauraA31 and @Gilm0reGirl the holiday is lovely I have to say.

Yay 10 weeks Laura!! Fantastic, definitely a good milestone. I’m 11 weeks tomorrow and can’t believe I’ve made it here already. I was so surprised when I saw a ‘June 2023’ babies thread on here the other day, doesn’t that feel mad, when ours are due in April, it feels so much sooner!

@LauraA31 can I ask which pram you’ve gone for? Days out and dog walks are important considerations for us to although im planning to get a sling/carrier for dog walks too - it turns out there’s a sling library literally across the road from my house!

@Skylark1990 glad youre feeling okay, your holiday sounds idyllic! Also thanks for explaining about why we need to wee all the time, that makes a lot of sense and also why it’s getting a bit worse as Im approaching 12 weeks!

MamaMenna · 28/09/2022 11:08

I carefully bought a car seat that could be attached to my stroller chassis for seamless transfer from car to walking around. I don't think I used it on the stroller once 🤣 It just wasn't necessary for my lifestyle, plus lockdown. And once dd was 3 months old we moved country and had no car for 6 months. So it might well be very useful for others!

Cuppasoupmonster · 28/09/2022 11:17

We kept our silver cross travel system from last time so will be using it again (it was the Brompton but I don’t think they sell it anymore). I think upgrading to a bigger car is probably ideal if you can, particularly if you have dogs, but of course it isn’t an essential if you love your smaller ones! I can’t drive (started learning when I fell pregnant but the sickness has put an end to that) but hope to continue as soon as I feel better because I desperately want to drive on maternity leave.

I had a horrible night last night. I think I was sick 5+ times, awake from 2-5am. I feel absolutely rough this morning even my eyes hurt from retching. Currently lying in the bath with a full fat coke 😐 not great pregnancy behaviour but I’m just trying to do what I need to do to pull through this.

Had a dream I was heavily pregnant and so close to the end, was so disappointed to wake up only 12 weeks 😂

Congrats on all the great scans! Love seeing the photos.

LauraA31 · 28/09/2022 11:42

@AliceinSlumberland yeah of course, we have gone for the Cosatto wow continental, we got the everything bundle but they do different bundles.
I know there’s so many good prams but this one just stood out to us, it’s got puncture proof wheels and suspension and it just was amazing in person plus small boot approved 😅
Im also looking into slings, didn’t know sling libraries were a thing! Will now start to have a google haha!

Lapin387 · 28/09/2022 12:01

@Cuppasoupmonster have you tried medication? I found cyclizine made me sleep 8 hours. The others also sedated me, so stopped me vomiting but didn’t help improve my intake. Might be just what you need if you take them before bed? Apologies if you’ve already gone down this road!

Anyone else’s vomiting ramped up suddenly at 12 weeks? I’m struggling with food but not hyperemesis as liquids stay down just fine.

Skylark1990 · 28/09/2022 13:50

@MamaMenna another one who didn't really use the carseat buggy contraption! Despite having it. In hindsight I would have bought a longer lasting swivel from birth to preschooler car seat, best value for money if can do extended rear facing. Do these even exist? Haha I'm sure they do.

@AliceinSlumberland thank you! Have had a lovely morning. So tired now haha but it was amazing being by the sea, swam twice.

Can I get your thoughts girls?
I had a hamburger and I didn't realise it was slightly pink in the middle till half way through eating it. I squeezed it and no bloody juice came out. DH said he thinks it's totally cooked and fine and a "well cooked burger". Once I realised I took the pinker bits off and ate around it. Just a bit worried this was maybe not good? I don't usually eat meat but was craving it so went for it so I'm a bit confused about whether being a bit pink matters? If wasn't bloody.

Skylark1990 · 28/09/2022 14:04

@Cuppasoupmonster so sorry to hear you are still feeling so sick at night. How are the days ATM? I really hope you start getting a bit of relief soon... Can you get away for a few days?? I have really found being away to have coincided with feeling better. Not sure if it's a change of scene, the sea air, or being distracted but it's helped. I do get spells of nausea and did spew yesterday but that's only one spew in 2 days so good going for me considering it was 2-4 times a day for the last few weeks! Like you and I think @ancienthouse said my house was making me feel sick 🤢 so much association with being ill. Just thinking about it makes me queezy 😅🤢🤢

@LauraA31 we have the cossato woosh stroller - bought it when DD was older as needed a light weight one that folded up in one motion to keep in the car. It's great! We ended up getting a bugaboo travel system for when DD was small so still have that buggy too and will use the carry cot and carseat for when this one arrives.

Currently undecided on a double buggy... Anyone else going to get one? Have we had this convo? Haha I lose track

ancienthouse · 28/09/2022 14:11

@Skylark1990 I think ideally you shouldn't eat any pink meat - if it had been cooked to 70C or whatever the safe temperature is, it wouldn't be pink. But the chances of it making you ill are very small. Probably the same chance as from unwashed salad garnish! I wouldn't worry.

I ate some brie a few weeks ago because I just totally forgot I shouldn't.
I briefly panicked a little about listeria but the chances of that piece of brie having listeria are so small that I'm probably fine. But it's still sensible to avoid.

I take the view that I'll avoid anything that has a higher chance of causing illness, including bagged salads etc. because for me it's not worth the risk and its easy enough to avoid for a few months. But if I do accidentally eat some then the risk is still very small so I try not to worry if that happens.

ancienthouse · 28/09/2022 14:17

@Skylark1990 how old will your DD be in April? We completely stopped using a pushchair just before DD turned 3 and we'd been phasing it out before then. You might not need a double buggy? Or if she still needs to rest every so often then a buggy board might work? I always fancied getting one but now DD will probably be too big by the time I'm pushing a baby in a pushchair, she'll be starting school! eek!

ancienthouse · 28/09/2022 14:22

Are some of you in the second trimester already? I cannot wait, I'm 13 weeks next week. I feel like the first trimester has dragged but it also seems crazy that we're a third of the way through already!

Margo34 · 28/09/2022 14:34

@Skylark1990 I'm not planning on getting a double buggy unless I absolutely have to, but that won't be until later once baby is here. I plan on keeping DC1 in existing pushchair so easy in and out, whilst wearing baby in sling or carrier. I used the stretchy sling with DC1 until about 12w old or so then switched to soft structured carrier. Still use the same carrier for DC1 now, love our Tula coast explore! We used the pram bassinet on the chassis in our living room for an indoor downstairs sleep space more than for getting out the house for the first 6m 😆

Margo34 · 28/09/2022 14:34

(DC1 will be 2.5 in April)

Longbin · 28/09/2022 14:47

@ancienthouse 13+2 here! I went for my scan when I was 12+6 and was moved forward 2 days so I never felt like I turned 13 weeks. I completely agree that it feels like forever but also it's mad 1/3 has gone already. I think it will go much faster from now on.

Longbin · 28/09/2022 14:51

@Skylark1990 I'm undecided so going to see how I get on when baby is here. My dd will be just under 2

ancienthouse · 28/09/2022 15:32

@Longbin definitely, I feel like with my DD the second trimester went by in a blur, the third trimester started off fast and then slowed a little. But the worst was 40 and 41 weeks, every day felt like an eternity! I'm hoping it's different this time because I know more what to expect. Like I'm fully expecting to go overdue again so I'll be counting down to 42 weeks rather than 40.

Longbin · 28/09/2022 15:42

@ancienthouse I was induced early last time so only had to wait until 39 weeks, I was glad of that though! I'm preparing for 42 this time around

MilkAndFenty · 28/09/2022 16:43

Hi everyone! I’m new here so just saying hello :)
had my scan today and didn’t want to join before is gotten it out the way. This will be my third and was very unplanned! My two boys are 7 and 10 so feels like starting all over again. I’m high risk so a bit nervous! 13 +4 and due date is April fools day!

@Margo34 how are you feeling now? Hope you're feeling better. How do you manage to carry your 2.5 old in a carrier? There's no way I could do that with my 2 year old.
