Morning all

Dex did another stupendous sleep... had to wake him up to feed him and take DC to school. Fingers crossed this is a pattern he is going to stick to.

Fettle- hope Toby is ok with the jabs... Dex has got his 2nd lot next week. What is the third injection for? Did they do the polio one in his mouth yet? Dex only had 2 jabs first time around. That Messiah was a bit gruesome!

mrs- any action overnight?

Seaside and Iampg- a lot of the lovely ladies on here were early- Bodders you were 38 wks, i think??

Sorry- so excited about the pending births that I cant remember what I was going to say to anyone else!

LOL at oral application of semen!! Perhaps that may change your DP's mind Iampg ... But, sorry to hear you are getting stressed, fingers crossed he'll budge and you'll be able to get the labour you want, but even if you do get induced (and as Honey says, you can hold out if you want), it will still be a wonderful experience giving birth to Oscar . Try to keep the stress at bay though...

Oh God, how awful about your voicebox Rainbow! That must have been such a worry! At least you'll know what it is if it happens again - the scariest thing must have been not knowing . Good to hear that your friends DP has improved slightly - I'm presuming he is relatively young?

Ouch! Poor DD Fettle! She probably wont realise how poorly she felt until she's all better - she'll be full of beans in no time! Good on her for being such a good girl though. Fingers crossed Toby's sleep continues to be improving. Theo has been doing OK recently, but I'm still feeding him once in the night. Both boys were in bed and asleep by 6.30 tonight !!! Am going to take advantage of an early night too as am knackered. Your meet-up at the shopping centre sounds fab. I remember when I went to meet MrsMc (can't believe that was over a year and a half ago now , DH said to watch out for any old men wearing macs in the place... he was a bit dubious that MrsMc would actually turn out to be who she said she was .

Ooh, DH is bugging me to get of PC... Ummm, hi to everyone else. Your post sounds lovely as you describe the first few days / weeks with Cassius! You can really feel how happy you are .

Right time to go!!! Good luck IAMPG! .

Oh yes and my fanjo fund - I want an inquiry into where the 37p went as I sure didn't see any of it .

fettleandbabyfettle · 01/02/2008 19:27

Hi girls - got to be quick, as DH is back and should really spend some time with him!!! Thankfully the snow didn't hinder him getting back - has anyone actually seen any snow yet - it's been beautiful down here all day!!

Anyway....

Iampg - sorry to hear you so down! It will happen before long and as honey says you don't need to be induced. But try not to be unduly worried about being induced either - I've been induced both times and it really wasn't as bad as some people make it out to be - positive thinking I think. If you get to the stage that you have to be induced, then just go with it and don't fight it, as that will make the experience more miserable, I would think. Either way, the outcome is the same and you end up cuddling your beautiful little angel!!!

Rainbowy - you really need to take good care of yourself - when you next going home?

Chooster - kept meaning to ask you about meeting MrsMc! DH is convinced that you are all bored male lorry drivers from Bolton! (hope none of you are, or if you are that you're not offended by that!! - having never been to Bolton, not quite sure why he thinks they have a high proportion of bored lorry drivers who would frequent parenting pages!)

I had a bit of scary night - Toby woke at 4am (having woken at 1030 and 0230!) absolutely screaming his head off - there was nothing I could do to calm him down. He screamed and cried for nearly an hour - I eventually took him downstairs and danced around the sitting-room and he finally fed and went back to sleep for all of 20 mins before he was awake and happily chatting in his cot until I got him at 6am. But I suddently felt really alone and what did I do if I needed to take him to hospital without DH there! Amazing how your brain imagines the worst at 4am! Probably just had pins and needles or something.

Right - better go - hope you all have lovely weekends - we're meeting a girl tomorrow who may be a good candidate to be our nanny, but at the very least hopefully will be a realiable baby-sitter, so DH and I can actually get out of the house in an evening together!!!

BTW - not sure if you all know, but those who knew/remember her LondonLottie is back on the temping thread. She's sounding well!

Take care

fettleandbabyfettle · 01/02/2008 19:28

forgot to say that I never knew that about semen before - perhaps it is good that DH never knew about it either!!!

seaside72 · 01/02/2008 20:57

Iampg - sending you contraction vibes!! Really hoping Oscar makes an appearance soon and that you get your HB - but even if you dont just concentrate on the positives of the birth wherever it happens - sooo exciting! I almost cant belive it has happened to me now - not even 2 weeks later!

rainbowdays - ouchhh about voicebox - hope you are feeling better - glad your friends DP is doing better. Take care of yourself.

fettle - poor you and Toby last night. I know what you mean about the 4am doom - why is it that 4am makes everything so scary?? Especially when you are on your own. I have to say I have thought that a lot the past 10 days - I cannot imagine being a single mum - hats off to them. Hope the nanny is a winner tomorrow about your episiotomy - you are scaring me - I have not even been brave enough to look at my undercarriage yet - not sure I ever will!!

Chooster - hope you are making the most of your evening/early night

honeyapple - thanks for all the bf advice btw - forgot to say that last time. My expressing is going well and Iseem to have had a milk acceleration yesterday if I express 4 times a day I am producing around two thirds of what Cass is taking every day which I am happy about.

firststar - well done on Ty's sleeping - def stick to your guns and persist with your routine - I am sure dsd's will deal with it! Thank you for formula info btw

greedy- Thank you also for formula lowdown. I am using the aptimel readymade up cartons at the moment as mw recommended that for first month at least. Hopefully I am getting it right so far - Cassius seems to be OK so fingers crossed!???

Bodkin - LOL - loving "Farmer Giles"! Mine are still there but got some cream on prescription yesterday so hopefully that will kick in soon. I am still finding it an effort to sit down normally

All is well with us - in fact too good to be true - Cassius is sleeping for England and last night he went from 12.30- 5.30am and today he has slept for about 90% of the day - should I be worried?? - he is awake for changing and feeding. He must have had a massive growth spurt this week as the mw came today for his 10day check and he is up to 7lbs 4oz after being 6lb 11oz last Sunday!! he is changing so much every day it is mad!
He is such a good boy all the time though and rarely cries unless he needs a change or is hungry. I know it cant last but we are loving it while it does!!

Right - better go - think a nappy needs changing... again!

fettleandbabyfettle · 01/02/2008 21:18

Seaside - glad to hear you sounding so in love!!! enjoy this time - Toby was the same and it was blissful, but wish I hadn't worried about him sleeping so much now! Some babies do sleep! As long as he feeding well, and waking for feeding, then he'll be fine! Toby now he hardly sleeps at all!!! Keep you on your toes these baby things!!

Also don't worry about your epiostomy - i'm sure it;s pretty rare - one of my stitches came out early and I probably should have mentioned it to the MW when I saw it!
(I've not looked at my undercarriage either - just feels bloody sore to touch!!!)

scorpio1 · 02/02/2008 12:26

All of your babies sound like wonderful sleepers My ds2 was, he used to go 11-7 at 6 weeks, about 5 nights of the week. ds1 didn't sleep through until he was 2.5 despite my best efforts. hoping for a repeat of ds2 this time please!

We went out last night for my friends engagement party, got in about 11pm - i'm so proud i stayed out sooooo late

Millie bump is due in 9 weeks and 6 days. i had Reilly at 39+5 and Jamie at 39+2, i wonder when i will have Millie and if it will be different becuase shes a girl or even at 38 weeks something? [eek]I'm not owrried this time about giving birth either, i was last time but not any more. Both births have been done pain relief free. Reilly 12 hours, Jamie 3 hours. Millie will fall out

Hope you are well?

rainbowdays · 02/02/2008 13:24

Iampg - big hug for you , hope you find something nice to do today to distract yourself from worrying about what will happen re induction. I hope that you still get your dream birth anyway.

Scorpio - interesting you got so near due date each time, did you see the thread I started on 3rd births and early/late, I was shocked to see how many who had had early arrivals the first two times, suddenly went late on their thirds!!!! I can't have that happen or my mum will not be around to see the baby for months afterwards (she lives in USA!) I am also not worried about this birth like I was my previous two, so I hope like you we just let them fall out !!!!

Seaside - so glad you are having a wonderful start to being mummy to Cassius, hope it continues for a long time yet for you. Enjoy the sleeping phase, it passes so quickly!

MrsMc - hope you are not too tired. I remember it taking me a couple of weeks to write up my birth story after my ds1 arrived, everything just seemed to go in a blur. Hope you are enjoying being a mummy too.

Honey - orally really!!! LOL My dh would be oh too keen to try that one with me. tmi

Fettle - I don't get to go home now until I finish work and go back home properly, my last day at work is the 29th feb, I get home on 2nd march (wierd as that was my miscarriage due date!)

Anyway today I am feeling blurggg with a chesty cough and head cold, but got nothing to do today but slouch around so will be taking it easy.

iampgatlast · 02/02/2008 16:53

hi ladies

thanks everyone for your sympathy just had a real bad day yesterday, dp started asking me questions about induction and my thoughts etc and i just had a big big cry which was well needed! i feel much better today, we went out shopping and for lunch which i think makes all the difference. being at home 24/7 is very depressing!!

i have pumped up the birthing ball - the reason it kept going down is because dp drilled a hole in the cap but he has glued it up for me now so can bounce away!

honey - thanks for your tip on getting things going...it would definately put a smile on dps face if i went down that route! think il hold out just a few more days on that one.....

fettle - thanks for reassurance about induction again, im such a first time whiney whinger arnt i! the most important thing is having healthy little oscar at the end of it all i know and when he is here the labour will hopefully be the last thing on my mind. your 4am ordeal sounds awful, things always seem worse at night tho dont they still im glad toby is alright and nothing developed.

seaside - thanks for the contraction vibes, much appreciated cassius sounds such a content happy baby and you sound a content happy mummy

rainbow - not long now another 4 weeks and you can be home with your family, i bet you cant wait! sorry your feeling buggy hope your restful day makes you feel better!#

greedy - when you talk about formula ( prob very silly question coming up here) when you say sterilised water does that mean you have boiled it and then cooled it down? and does that mean marcy has coldish bottles? where did you get the containers from to seperate your feeds. just asking incase bf doesnt work for me.

enjoy the rest of your weekends!!

Chooster · 03/02/2008 19:49

Hey ladies - Glad to hear you are sounding more chirpy Iampg - how many days over are you now? Just like Fettle I was induced both times (the second time after my waters had gone) and its fine really... Not ideal, but not horrible either .

That does sound pretty bad Fettle - I hate it when either my DS's cries and I can't help them. I dont think I mentioned but DS1 has been poorly ever since last weekend, so pretty much the whole time we were at my mums while the boiler was fixed. He's only just getting better and still has a bit of a cold. I think its only a cold but he had a really high temp that was spiking a few times every day. Then DH has got it and now DS2 has got it, so I've spent most of the say trying to console DS2 who just doesn't know what to do with himself. He's crying real tears bless him. So the last couple of nights have been a bit of a nightmare and now DH leaves tomorrow for 3 nights away with work. I dread that middle of the night panic of a poorly child when I'm on my own. Anyway, I gave Theo a nice cool bath and popped him to bed in pyjama's so his feet are free and I can try to cool him down in the night. Of course needless to say that DH has it worse than anyone else in the family . I think mother nature has spared me so that I am well enough to look after them all and then when they are better I bet I get ill . God, that was a real whinge wasn't it - sorry

Seaside - You sound blissfully happy and Cassius sounds like an angel baby - enjoy every moment!!! As has been said enjoy this sleeping time, it seems like he is thriving .

I hope this next month flies by for you rainbow - you must miss the kids teribly. How does DH cope with them on his own, does he work from home / shifts??? Sorry for being nosy .

Oooh, Theo is stirring - God, its going to be another bad night. I may be back x

Chooster · 03/02/2008 19:51

Oops, when I say Theo is cring real tears, I just meant that he is doing big boys crying, normally he just whinges or cries without any tears scooting out . Just in case you thought he was a bit odd .

Bodkin · 03/02/2008 21:03

Don't worry, I know what you mean Chooster! Isla is the same - very snotty and miserable at the mo, but no temperature thankfully. Anyway, sounds like you've had a lot on your plate this last week, so well done you for getting through it and still sounding so chirpy! Hope all is well with the McJnrs - can't believe she hasn't been on yet

Fettle - 1.5 hours does sound a long way to come - that's a 3 hour round trip! And what if you thought I was a prat when you met me, then you'd be reeeeallllly pissed off you'd driven so far!

Rainbow - glad to hear your friends' DH is showing some improvement. Sorry to hear about your throat - sounded scary! Would be great if you could join us if we sort out a meet up!

Hi Seaside - you sound so chilled for a first-time mum - well done! Don't worry about him sleeping so much... they do... but not forever, so make the most of it and enjoy watching him looking so angelic and asleep!

Firsty - am sure the DSDs will sleep through any squawking Ty makes. It's different if you don't have to actually get up and see to the baby! Hope you crack it this weekend.

Hi everyone else - quick post before i disappear to Centerparcs tomorrow - half dreading it, half looking forward to it. It will be hectic, whatever happens!

Iampg - hope you have little Oscar in your arms by the time I get back online!

fettleandbabyfettle · 03/02/2008 22:05

Chooster - I know exactly what you mean about crying real tears - Toby is the same. When he's really upset he starts proper crying, rather than just loud moaning and he just sounds so distraught (normally happens when he's been unhappy, i've gone to him, and then something happens to delay his feed, or I have to pop him back down for a second). Anyway, I hope your night isn't as bad as you are expecting. It is horrible having DH's who work away. I just keep reminding myself of my friend with a nearly 4yr old DS and 8 mo DD who's DH has gone to Afganistan for 4 months! (doesn't make me feel any better in selfish moments though!!).

Iampg - glad you are sounding chirpier. I'm sure it will be all over soon - still a week away from induction aren't you and they won't do it over a weekend I wouldn't think (at least our hospital wouldn't) and Mondays fill up fast, so if you're lucky you'll be able to delay them long enough to go into labour naturally. Have you any plans for a sweep? [fettle hopes that all this is unnecessary as Iamamother is already cuddling Oscar at home!]

Greedy - saw some photos of me pre-DD last week and I'm definitely going back to WW properly, so you'll have to help me through. Shame you aren't nearer me, as when I'm having a low day and nothing to do except housework, that's when i reach for bad things to eat - if I'm busy and I can quite easily realise that I've not actually managed to eat lunch.

well - started writing that part about 2 hours ago, but as our kitchen worktop was fitted on Friday, we've been rearranging furniture and changing lights - looks so much better now!!!

Have to go sleeping now - so big waves to everyone.

speak tomorrow hopefully - got 2nd possible nanny coming round for a preliminary chat - must speak to work to finalise what I'm doing!!

take care

fettleandbabyfettle · 03/02/2008 22:08

knew i'd cross with someone!

Bodders are you a prat? Sure you're not and if I think you are, I'd dread to think what you think of me!!! But having driven 45 mins with DD today to the shops, with every 5 mins - "when are we there" chirping going on - I think we either need to do it on a weekend or half-term when i could have DH with me, or I try and do a quickie trip without her! Although after 2 days on antibiotics, she is actually showing an improvement on her behaviour (a little bit!!!!

Keep up the good work Firsty!!! Thats a good sleep you got out of him. Sorry to hear that you feel alone doing it all - I can't see whats wrong in feeding DS his milk / brekkie at 6.20 ish... . He did well sleeping through. My night wasn't too bad but Theo was waking every 1 and a half or so - really painful crying. DS1 was also up at 4am - Grrrr - but thankfully went back to sleep til 8am! Hoorray!! Anyway, Theo has croup so thats why his crying sounds so awful - poor wee soul. He's feeling pretty sorry for himself. He's already stirred a few times so I reckon he'll be in again with me. DH has been banished to the spare room anyway due to excessive annoying coughing! He's cancelled his work trip as he so poorly. My sympathies wane a bit when it comes to DH - I know it sounds awful but I just want to tell him to get on with it .

I heard from Mrsmc on text today and I'm planning to visit them on Thursday so I'll let you know how she is doing. .

Iampg - sorry to keep asking but... any movement??

By the way, Greeds, did you ever get the jumperoo for Marcy? Does she like it? I'll try to get a photo of my little guy in his up.

rainbowdays · 05/02/2008 09:20

Chooster - sorry to hear about theo's croup, it is horrible, my ds only started getting croup about a year ago, but everytime it happens it is horrible for everyone. Hope theo bounces back today.

Send our love to MrsMc.

Iampg - if you have not already had baby, today is a good day as it is my birthday, would love to share it....!

OK LIFE BEGINS FOR ME TODAY !!!!!!!
Yep I have reached my 40th birthday today! And I always said that I would never have a baby after I was 40

PinkButterfly · 05/02/2008 09:55

Hello all!!! Hope you are all doing great with your babies (hello to those who don't know me - I have been AWOL for sometime).
I am coming back to chat with you and will stay the duration, promise! Been so so busy and broadband service has been attrocious (sp?) but haven't had chance to do anything about it. Purchased new super-duper laptop at weekend and wireless broadband going in tomorrow. Please someone fill me in on everyone's bundles - I really have lost track and no way I can read through the threads I have missed. Especially Mrs - can't find her news on this thread. PB xx

Hi all

Having a ridiculously lazy day - Toby has been asleep on my lap for about 2 hours on and off - didn't sleep too well last night and had huge bags under his eyes, so just felt like a big cuddle day with him!

Took him to be weighed this morning and he is following a curve just under 50th percentile - so not bad. Had a completely and utterly useless HV who said about 2 words when I went in to discuss weaning now at 20 weeks rather than waiting until 6 months as he's waking so often at night - "it won't hurt him" was about all she said!!!. (ok so she said 4 words!!

Anyway, had loads to say, but not really very chatty - sorry! Bit computer tired as was reading our threads from a year ago (trying to remind myself about you PinkB!! - so good to see you back. What's new with you? - you'll have gathered that my Toby is 20 weeks now!!)

But - i'm now officially 1lb lighter than I was before I got pg with Toby! Probably hover around here for a while before losing anymore, but hopefully will continue to lose - next milestone is 7lbs down where I was before my 2nd mc!!

iampg - hang in there - hope your sweep wasn't too uncomfortable and starts something off.

CHooster - send our love to Mrs and Xavier!

big waves to all - hopefully chattier later!
