Hey, I'm 39+4 today with my first baby. I really thought I was going to be early, so feel overdue even though I'm not. I had my first sweep last Monday and started losing my mucus plug.. but nothing today. I feel so done with being pregnant. My feet, ankles and calfs are so swollen and painful and they have been stuck like this for over a month now! No shoes fit!! Plus, the constant need to pee and just so, so uncomfortable. Do you feel ridiculously heavy? Or am I just rubbish with coping with pregnancy?😂 I have another sweep on Wednesday on my due date, I was hoping to pop by then.. but it doesn't seem like she's going anywhere anytime soon to be honest.

giftswap2021 · 28/08/2022 22:53

I'm 40 weeks tomorrow. Had a sweep on Friday morning, went for a long walk and nothing! Having Braxton hicks around teatime each day but they don't come to anything.

Have any of you tried Raspberry leaf tea/dates/fresh pineapple?
I did with my first but was still 10 days overdue so haven't bothered this time but am wondering if I should? Probably left it too late for it to work now I suppose. Hopefully won't be long for us.

Babydancing2020 · 28/08/2022 22:57

Omg you poor thing, i feel you a 100% i told my other half the other day that I think the last couple of weeks of pregnancy are harder then the whole pregnancy itself.
I feel huuugee and my bump looks like a hanging grape every time my toddler runs in the corridor without seeing me he bumps right into it :O

About how swollen you feel i find sometimes a cold shower helps before going to bed to reduce all the swelling.
I hope your little girl makes an appearance soon right now I have a feeling that everyone is going into labour before me

@lilacgirl199 forgot to add you lool that message was meant to be for you x

OP posts:
Babydancing2020 · 28/08/2022 23:00

I tried it all and honestly I dont think it done anything. If anything it just makes me contract longer with no progress really every time after a few hours the contractions just stop.
They do advice to start doing all that once you are 36 weeks so maybe I left it too late as well who knows.
Hate to say it and even hear it from other people but i really think that baby just comes when baby is ready :(

lilacgirl199 · 28/08/2022 23:18

@Babydancing2020 Oh I will have to try the cool shower before bed thing. I have tried everything else for these elephant feet🤣🤣 I have tried elevating them, leaving them in bowls of ice water, which kind of seemed to make them worse and I even tried remaining off my feet for an entire day.. but as soon as I am on my feet again for only 10 mins, the slight swelling that left is back again full force. It has me worried about preeclampsia all the time, but my urine and blood pressure is always fine and no other dodgy symptoms relating to that.
I literally take my hat off to you and anyone else going through pregnancy with children already, how do you do it?? Lol. It makes me feel ridiculous that I find looking after just myself this hard while pregnant 🤣🤣
These last couple weeks are very hard. I was so ignorant before I was pregnant.. it really does feel like an endurance test lol.
I think your right too about them just coming when they're ready. I hope you get to meet your little one soon. It can't be too long now.

Babydancing2020 · 28/08/2022 23:24

@lilacgirl199 It really is just one of the "joys" of pregnancy that swelling isnt it...i had it with my second one as well and then after birth i had those crazy night sweats and the swelling was completely gone after a couple of days so hopefully you'll get rid of it sooner then later!

Oh god I was ignorant myself I'm never doing this again having a toddler running around looool. Im literally surviving, my eldest is 5 and he is very articulate and understanding so he does make it a lot easier for me then my almost 2 year old which is a loose canonball.
Please don't feel ridiculous honestly pregnancy is very very challenging you are bringing life into this world you are growing a human inside you give yourself some credit honestly! I think you are doing great and you are going to be a lovely mother.

lilacgirl199 · 28/08/2022 23:27

@gigiftswap2021 I haven't tried any of those things either, I naively thought she would be early.. I have no idea why lol.
Feel I have left it too late now. I'm just trying to keep on the go, well as much as I can with my painful feet.
I keep getting period aches, then they just disappear and back aches.. then nothing.
What did both your midwives say at your sweeps? I was told I was 1cm and cervix very low.. but still hard and not stretchy. I also bled quite a bit after and then lost plug over a few days.. but everything seems to have halted again. And my sweep was on Tuesday, sorry I'm all over the place with my days at the moment lol

Babydancing2020 · 28/08/2022 23:41

I was 2cm dialated but my cervix still felt quite long and spongy instead of soft and thin after that i had a bit of spotting and lots of painfull contractions very irregular and then after that day I lost my mucus plug with what seems like quite a lot of blood untill now. Through out the day i have a lot of irregular contractions they come every 10-12 min and last for 1 minute a lot of pressure on my bottom like a big poo that wont come out XD sorry tmi.

Aw thank you @Babydancing2020 I'm so excited to meet her, but also very anxious I'm going to be a mum and have the responsibility of another human being. I think this is why I'm getting so impatient too, I just want to move onto the next stage of being a mum and stop overthinking everything.. I'm terrified of labour too. I get my moments of strength, thinking bring it on and then I'm like.. I can't give birth😂😂
I feel so incredibly lucky that I'm having my very own little one though🥰
Wow, you will have 3 boys soon! You seem to be able to take it all in your stride and seem very strong. Definitely keep me updated if anything progresses for you and when you have him🙂.
I'm getting the aches again now, also I keep getting a twinge in my back with pressure.. this has been on and off for a couple days, I'm not sure what that means

Babydancing2020 · 28/08/2022 23:57

Aww i believe women are designed so strong in a way that we can just handle certain things men never will be able to. We are all strong its just the mind that tricks us sometimes in being weak due to fear of the unknown.
I am terrified as well to go into labour sometimes im so sick of being pregnant that i think you know what lets go im done just get out already and then other days im like oh shit what have I done XD.

Well it definately sounds like your body is getting ready for little bubba keep me posted you got this!

OP posts:
lilacgirl199 · 29/08/2022 00:00

@Babydancing2020 that all sounds very promising.. I feel after my sweep I didn't really contract at all..😔
You sound so close.. I'm getting some pressure in my bum.. I seem to be having a clear out too..tmi lol.. I've started going twice a day.. and they aren't very nice🙈🙊lol.
I don't understand how my cervix is apparently so low and reachable, but not really stretchy at all??

lilacgirl199 · 29/08/2022 00:04

@Babydancing2020 oh and definitely about women being strong, I feel this pregnancy has made me have a newfound respect and awe of women. It's actually amazing what are minds and bodies are capable of.. yes, men would definitely crumble, that's why we were given the most important job of all😆

Babydancing2020 · 29/08/2022 00:07

I have 2 boys and a husband believe me there is no such thing as tmi over here hahahaha.
I've been going sometimes up to 5 times a day and i know exactly what u mean with them not being not very nice looool same here.

You know it really doesnt matter its just your bodies way of prepping for baby to come out. With my 1st boy i went into labour 38 weeks 2 days with no sign of labour and it was as straightforward as can be. With my 2nd one i was almost 42 weeks he was back to back i was 3cm dialated for weeks done 2 sweeps had my induction planned and he came 2 days before the induction so it really can happen any moment now and it can progress so fast.

Have you thought about a birth plan?

I’m 39 weeks and counting down the days to my due date 😫

beckybloomwood11 · 29/08/2022 07:27

I'm 40 weeks today and also feel like I'm overdue, even though I'm not! It's my first and I was so naive about how awful I'd feel at this stage of pregnancy. I've been lucky to have a really easy pregnancy so far, but now I'm feeling so fed up, huge, it's painful trying to get up / turn over in bed and it's also so boring waiting for something to happen!

Mitzgerald · 29/08/2022 08:02

40+4 today and feeling really frustrated! My first was born 40+5 so I was expecting our second to come earlier.

For the last two nights I've had niggling period pains at bed time and go to sleep feeling hopeful but by morning feeling nothing again. I have a sweep booked in for tomorrow but I'm sick to death of friends and family telling me to hold on till Sept so they're the oldest in the school year. I just want to meet this baby and I'm not sure if that makes me selfish but I'm really not concerned about having an August born so these comments are really annoying me!

Good luck to everyone else waiting. Let's hope it's not too much longer now....

Babydancing2020 · 29/08/2022 11:28

I can completely relate to all of you especially the boring part, theres just nothing more to do now. Everyday feels the same and at this point i cleaned the whole house done lots of things and start recleaning everything thats clean because Im so bored:s
I really wish I had the baby already since my 5 year old goes back to school next week i wanted to be recovered and all so i could do the school drop off and pick ups again but looks like im stuck in the house now. Also I dont feel like facing the other parents in my childs class with their annoying comments: ohh is the baby not here yett.

@Babydancing2020 sorry for the late reply haven't been feeling great at all.. been feeling very sick with unbearable acid reflux and stomach cramps! Definitely not feeling my best😂😂.

Is there any sign of your little boy yet hun?

I did have a birth plan, but it seems to change daily lol. Initially I wanted to be in the birthing centre and have a water birth.. now all friends and family I have spoken to have been on the labour ward so I'm swaying towards that. Purely for the constant monitoring as I am so anxious. I have a low risk pregnancy.. but I have been in recently for reduced movement.. all okay, she was just playing tricks on me it seems😂😂.
What's your birth plan hun?

Officially 40 weeks tomorrow.. and absolutely no sign.

lilacgirl199 · 30/08/2022 10:51

Oh and the boredom is unbearable.. I haven't a clue what to do with myself anymore. Nothing to do but wait and feel so so uncomfortable.

My Due date is 31st of August, now I'm practically there, I am thinking I hope she is a September baby to avoid all the school drama of an August baby.
She might as well hang on in there now and wait until the 1st of Sep to make her appearance😂😂.. now I've said that she will arrive just before🙄 haha

Babydancing2020 · 30/08/2022 11:19

Oh nooo i hope you feel better soon. I am so over it honestly i feel so frustrated boredome is literally killing me nothing is happening im just sat hete waiting for something to happen. And with every twinge im hopeful that something is finally gonna happen but nope nothing. I had a water birth with my 2nd it was amazing and they still monitor you and baby if thats what you are worried about. If you have any questions feel free to ask anytime xx

Not as far along as you folks but at 38+1 and just fed up with being pregnant. Acid reflux, sciatica, leg cramps and lack of sleep - plus an 18mo to look after!!

I went 10 days over with the first so I am trying not to get my hopes up that this one will be early but I am so ready for baby to arrive!

Hope those of you who are already overdue aren’t too fed up!!!

Babydancing2020 · 30/08/2022 11:26

Ive been in for reduced movements as well I think everyone at least once has been in for reduced movements these babies have a way of making us worry just to be over active as soon as we are hooked up on the monitor xD

My birth plan is nothing really specific i'd like an unmedicated birth with no intervention (if not needed) in the pool done it with my other two and for me it just makes it bearable and it gives me a piece of mind knowing that the water will give me some kind of pain relief. Also you dont feel the weight of your baby in the water which feels so good so hopefully that.
Im 40 weeks and 4 days still nothingg ughhhh

OP posts:
Flibbyjibby · 30/08/2022 18:02

@Babydancing2020 sounds like my birth plan. I did plan to have #1 in the pool too but got out at 10cm for a VE and didn’t want to get back in again as was too much effort! This time I’ve told my DH to make me stay in the pool to have baby as I really want to experience a water birth and this is the last one!

I worried about reduced movements too this week but baby has been moving a lot today which has put my mind at ease a bit. Literally this morning I was trying everything to make it move and was so ready to ring up the maternity unit, then it woke up and has been having a rave since.

I hope you don’t have to wait too much longer to meet your baby!

Babydancing2020 · 31/08/2022 11:04
