@B1993 I did a bit of googling on this the other night and think I settled on the Tutti Bambini cozee bedside crib but I’m hoping I can pick up one on marketplace and replace the mattress to save some money!

@Longbin thank you I will definitely google sling libraries near me!

B1993 · 22/08/2022 22:20

@HattieRosa Try the NHS due date calculator.

@AliceinSlumberland Yes, definitely look into the seat/pram connectors and see what looks good.

Re breast pads - I bought loads and rarely leaked - the only time it happened was at night if I'd slept pressing on one of my breasts haha! I wouldn't go overboard as you don't know if you'll need them.

I'd also be interested in sling recommendations- j didn't use them with DS but definitely want to this time around.

And has anyone got a beside crib that they like? I had a Moses basket with DS but it was a pain having to get fully up every time baby needed me.

Ahhh ok - it says 19th April. Thanks!

Another favourite product, bbhugme pillow

@KilledAnotherPlant I'm so sorry.

@AliceinSlumberland I was bridesmaid for one of my best friends, and another one of our friends (also a bridesmaid) gave birth 2 weeks before the wedding. Baby was a couple of weeks late so it ended up being a tight gap! She managed it OK and was more than happy to juggle. I guess for you it's understanding that it won't be like a normal wedding for you. It's definitely a conversation to have with the bride though to check that she'd be OK with you probably not going on the hen party, not being able to be responsible for much on the day, your priority being the baby rather than her etc. This was also my friend's second baby so she was more aware of how she might feel or cope because I guess no-one knows how they're going to feel (physically or mentally) after giving birth. It's certainly doable and if you have an understanding friend then I'd go for it 😊

Tubbytele · 22/08/2022 22:37

@KilledAnotherPlant I'm really sorry, sending you a virtual hug.

TheCakeIsALie18 · 22/08/2022 22:38

Hey everyone. I hope you're all doing well. There is always so much to catch up on in this group, but I'm trying.

Got a question... my anxiety is playing up and I just need some real people responses and not Google......

I'm 5+5 and having AF like cramping. Probably not even as bad as AF but I can feel it. I feel.....heavy..... are any of you feeling this? I lost my last pregnancy at 5+4 but started bleeding at 4+6 or 5weeks. So thankfully I'm past that time but with that I didn't have cramping until it passed and it was pretty bad. So obviously I'm worried there is something wrong.

Any reassurance or points of view would be gratefully received ❤️❤️ xxx

Tubbytele · 22/08/2022 22:42

@PuddingBear has given great advice about the sling and swing. I second reading up on the fourth trimester. It helped me to relax more when all my baby wanted to do was sleep on me and I was struggling to get anything done. And also about the comfort feeding. I didn't realise at the start that my baba was reaching for the breast so much to help my milk come in properly. It was through the support of an amazing infant feeding specialist that I was able to combine feed as my breast milk took a long time to come through due to a difficult birth, and I was eventually able to breast feed.

Sunnyxo · 22/08/2022 22:46

@chasingtherainbow1 hope all goes well at the scan tomorrow!

@Chocolat it really is! That would be the dream to not have to leave the house for a few months 😃 I'll keep you posted, keep me updated too with yours!

@TheCakeIsALie18 sorry to hear your anxious and the previous losses! I definitely had this at 5 weeks, and think it's quite common. Really thought my AF was about to start any moment. My friend who has 2 kids also reassured me she had it with both her pregnancies too and has 2 healthy kids, if that also helps. I think if there's any bleeding and/or it gets very painful then may be cause for concern.
My cramps at 7+5 weeks now seem to have gone down a lot.

Margo34 · 22/08/2022 22:47

@AliceinSlumberland

Don't overbuy, be my advice! Like you say there is so much out there but actually you really don't need much at all. And for anything else there's amazon prime. But it is a lot of fun writing a list and window shopping through the internet in the meantime 😊

For slings/stretchy wraps, look up Hana wraps, Boba wraps, Freerider and Close Caboo (and local sling libraries as a pp mentioned).
There are nappy libraries too if you're interested in reusable nappies!

Don't buy a breastpump until you know you actually need one after birth. You can hire hospital grade ones from your hospital soon after birth if you need.

Margo34 · 22/08/2022 22:49

@Tubbytele your infant feeding team sound the dream! Mine was useless. As was my HV 🙈

Margo34 · 22/08/2022 22:50

I'm another one not really feeling symptoms another than bloat at the moment. I'm panicking that by taking Progesterone is covering up for an early loss.

Arghhhhh I hate this part of pregnancy.

TheCakeIsALie18 · 22/08/2022 22:58

@Sunnyxo thank you. That does make me feel better. There is no bleeding or spotting and the pain isn't bad. Just feels like my period, that heavy feeling, y'know. I'm glad it is normal at the point. ❤️ xxx

Tubbytele · 22/08/2022 22:59

@Margo34 I'm so sorry you didn't have good specialists around you. My HV was brilliant but the some of the midwives at the hospital is a complete different story. A lot of women miss out on such crucial advice and info because of this.

I'm also like you that I don't have any obvious symptoms yet. I didn't have obvious symptoms with my DS but this time I'm just really tired and am craving spicy foods like I did with DS.

Margo34 · 22/08/2022 23:05

@Tubbytele yeah but despite the useless/lack of support it all worked out ok for thankfully and still BF at 22m. I spent 3 months trying to contact my HV with some concerns when baby was 2m-5m old before I gave up, don't think I'll sign up for the service this time. The hospital teams though were amazing though! It's such a postcode lottery it seems.

Thanks for your message on symptoms, reassuring I'm not the only one with few symptoms.

Sunnyxo · 22/08/2022 23:11

@TheCakeIsALie18 ah yeah I know the feeling, it's kind of uncomfortable dullish feeling 😭 but yeah apparently all normal 😊❤️

@Margo34 and @Tubbytele think it seems like there's a few without super intense symptoms!

@Margo34 I've been worrying abit about this too, with the progesterone, I did quite a bit of Googling though and apparently in studies it didn't mask a MC

BamEd · 22/08/2022 23:17

@HattieRosa we’re due date twins :)

Tubbytele · 22/08/2022 23:29

@Margo34 I'm really glad to hear that it all worked out in the end :)

@Sunnyxo it's really reassuring that it's not just me. I'm grateful not to be feeling sick but apart from the tiredness, spicy food craving and restless legs at night, I have nothing else to go on except those pregnancy tests done few weeks back. I can totally feel the temptation to get an early scan but I'm going to hold out to 12w.

@TheCakeIsALie18 I hope you're feeling better.

Tubbytele · 22/08/2022 23:31

I'm currently 7+2 but I suspect that this incorrect as I ovulated late so I may be 6+ something but won't know until the scan.

Pickles91 · 23/08/2022 01:46

Struggling to keep up but do read along when I can!

@TheCakeIsALie18 I’m 5+4 today on first pregnancy and just had my first experience of period-like cramps too. No bleeding and reassured by a lot of mumsnet reading that’s it’s totally normal. Hard not to worry though, eh?!

LauraA31 · 23/08/2022 07:04

Morning ladies, hope everybody is well and congratulations to all! Sorry this is going to be a long one!
I wasn’t going to post in here so soon, feel im tempting fate but decided i need the support and advice of ladies going through the same as me at the same sort of time!

I’m currently 4+3 according to last AF, which was 24th July 2022.
I’m super anxious that something is going to go wrong, i think because we tried for four months now it is happening im worried! I have a private scan booked for 7 weeks to put my mind at ease but until then, im worrying! Also i told my parents which has made me worry more, because they now know!

Firstly my tests have confused me.. I got my BFP at 9DPO and it wasn’t the faintest line, 10DPO i did a digital and got 1-2 weeks. 14DPO (day AF due) i did another digital and got 2-3 weeks pregnant, i did a digital yesterday at 19DPO and got 3+ weeks pregnant, i should only have been 4+w yesterday…. Im 100% sure about dates as we have tried for a few months and tested in them months and AF has arrived. I also started with a dye stealer at 16DPO, i will add yesterdays test photos in!
Twins run strong on mums side so that’s in my mind also, i have referred to the midwife online but got a couple of week wait before contact.

Another thing is cramps, im getting lower back ache every day which is concerning me for so early. I also have a cramp come and go through the day in my left side of my tummy, it’s sort of under my belly button to the left. It’s not there all the time but comes and goes which has worried me.
I have a lot of watery discharge, I think this could be normal but im finding myself wiping every opportunity i have 😂😂

I was going to ring the GP about it all but feel im panicking for no reason! It’s our first baby and my first pregnancy, im a worrier at the best of times but think google hasn’t helped in this case haha… according to google im either miscarrying or having an ectopic but feel there could be a much more reasonable explanation!

Symptom wise i have sore boobs, extremely tired through the day, hungry but don’t want to eat, thirsty and have oily hair and spotty skin!
Sorry for a such a morning rant, but really welcome any advice.. x

Thank you for all your kind messages re: lack of symptoms everyone :-) much appreciated

Missgemini · 23/08/2022 07:27

@LauraA31 good to see you on this thread :)
The tests have been progressing nicely for you. I can only see it as a positive sign. We can’t assume that clear blue tests are perfect, but they give us an idea that the hormone level is going up.
Whether it could be twins?? No idea, but good luck :)

I’ve had very low level cramps the whole time. Now also getting some random joint twinges around my hips if I move suddenly or something.
When I was pregnant with my last baby, my hips were a mess. Looks like that might be coming back.

I’ve got a scan at 6 weeks ish. Hopefully we can be reassured by the early scans :)

Gilm0reGirl · 23/08/2022 07:31

So much useful info here, I’ll put my 2 pence in @AliceinSlumberland on recommendations I hope some of it helps a little.

completely agree about baby wearing, it was a life saver for leaps especially. We had several all for different things. Definitely recommend a sling library so you can try a few types and check your wear too.
— little frog ring slings are stunning and so easy to use I love mine and used it in Disney world last year when dd was tired and we didn’t have the pram as you can hip sling toddlers easily.

  • we have a stretchy and a non stretchy wrap which my husband preferred at first

  • we had the baby Bjorne one air carrier which I’ve loaned to friends who loved it too

breast pump I am going to lean towards waiting to buy until after baby is here, I bought one which I still have but I actually hired a hospital grade one for 6 months in the end as I had a lot of problems and had to hire a lactation consultant and power pump constantly which the ones we can buy wouldn’t cut it for with the amount I had to do. Lots of ladies buy one and don’t use it for so many reasons but there isn’t any harm in getting your own either, it’s fun to shop for after all! There is also a device called the Hakaa which is great as it collects your let down. Utilise your infant feeding team at the hospital as much as you can and if you need help hire a lactation consultant or drop into a local boobin clinic, my lactation consultant ran super cheap ones to help groups and the camaraderie from these ladies was lovely, you can Google them in your local area.

we went for a joie 360 spin car seat and skipped the travel system which we will be doing again. It’s an each to their own preference, I wanted baby to be able to sleep anywhere happily and be able to be moved from a car seat without waking and then not drifting back off and I noticed friends with a travel system struggled with that once the baby had got used to napping in their car seat for longer periods. I also wanted to baby wear often or use the gorgeous pram with the bassinet.

These are just things I did, it’s really personal preference. Babyshopping is so much fun, I don’t know if they do them still after covid but we also went to baby shows to try things out, that was fun. X

Gilm0reGirl · 23/08/2022 07:34

@Sunnyxo yes! Did you? What did you think?I was both delighted and disappointed with it. I’ll have to watch it again after I’ve done the earlier series, I considered the name Lorelei for our DD as I was watching it again when I was pregnant with her lol!

ClaBro1 · 23/08/2022 07:37

Congrats to everyone! According to Flo I will be 5 weeks today, going to take another clear blue digital this week to check it’s moved to 2-3 weeks. We have decided to get an early scan before we tell our immediate family. Thinking around 7 and a half weeks due to work commitments. Hope everyone is feeling ok-I cannot get over the exhaustion!
