Dull tender intermittent pain on ride side near ovary, 5 weeks pregnant

Hi guys. I'm 5 weeks and since finding out I'm pregnant I've had intermittent dull / achey / tender pain low down on my right side every now and then. It comes for a while and will basically throb every few seconds for a while then it goes away for a few hours. I'm obviously worried about ectopic but I haven't had severe pain there and have had other stretching and crampy burrowing feelings more centrally Iin my lower abdomen so I'm hoping this is the embryo and it's in the right place. No other symptoms that could indicate ectopic. Pretty sure I ovulated from this side and felt ovulation happen too so could it be the corpus luteum maybe?

I've called epau but they're busy and may not get back to me quickly. Just wondering if others have had this and what it could be? Should I be worried about possible ectopic? 😬

Hi I'm really sorry I don't have the answer but just wanted to say I am experiencing the exact same thing! I am also 5 weeks pregnant and have been having a throbbing/kind of sharp pain on my right side for the last few days. I am trying not to worry as it's not severe pain but I would suggest giving your GP a call (it really isn't wasting their time) and I'm sure they'll be able to put your mind at rest. I'll be doing the same and will let you know what they say. Congratulations on you're pregnancy x

Just seen you were the person posting about the dye stealer that I commented on! Seems we in very similar boat 😂⛵ I really hope the pain we are having is nothing to worry about. It's just exhausting all this worry isn't it!
I've had 3 losses this year so really don't want to have to go into the hospital to get checked out but I called the epau and they are going to ring me back. I think sometimes an early scan can rule out ectopic. But like you say it's not severe or constant so hopefully nothing to worry about 😩

I had this on and off for a week or so but left side! I spoke to the GP about it and then epu and was just told to take paracetamol to ease the pain especially as there was no spotting or other symptoms.

I'm now 7 weeks and still have it a little bit of an evening but no where near as much as around 5-6 weeks.....

Perexi · 11/08/2022 11:23

Sorry they also said if it got worse to get back in touch... hopefully will help put mind at rest a little but if worried definitely try to speak to the epu.

Ah yes sorry I didn't realise it was you I was speaking too! It does sound like we are in a very similar boat. I am so sorry to hear about your losses. I also had 1 loss a month ago so completely feel your anxiety and fear. I'm hoping it we're experiencing similar, it's a good sign. I hope your call back goes well and I'll let you know if I hear anything different from my doc xx

This is really reassuring to hear! I have just got off the phone to my GP and they have said the same thing. Fingers crossed it eases soon

Hey, I'm 6+1 and I had this from about 4 weeks until a few days ago!
I had a uti that got really nasty, and I was treated for that. I was still a bit worried as the pain was still there, so I was scanned at the EPU, and all is in the right place. I did ovulate from my right ovary so that accounts for some of the pain.
My advice is push for an early scan to put your mind at ease.

Skylark1990 · 11/08/2022 11:51

Thank you @Perexi and @ANiceBigCupOfTea x @ANiceBigCupOfTea when did you get scanned? How many weeks were you? I've got one at 6+5 booked but would probably want one sooner if worried about this pain. .....

@Skylark1990 i actually had mine booked in with EPU today (6+1) as my bereavement midwife booked it (previous stillbirth), but I went to a and e as the pain was so bad and they booked me for Monday when I was about 5 +4/5. I was able to see gestation sack, yolk sack and fetal pole, and I'm going back on the 19th when I'm 7 and a few days to hopefully see a heartbeat.
Seeing it in the right place has helped me cope to be honest as it's awful worrying when you feel pain. My attitude was if it was ectopic I wanted it dealt with early to save the tube.

Skylark1990 · 11/08/2022 15:29

Thanks 🙏
@ANiceBigCupOfTea @Bmayn3

I called epau and they've got me in for a scan tomorrow when I'll be about 5+2. She said it's very normal and probably nothing to worry about but they'll try to rule it out. It's come back a bit this afternoon after going away this morning so I'm quite worried and glad I'm being seen tomorrow although kinda wish it was today now! So much worry.

@ANiceBigCupOfTea best of luck for your next scan! Think we are both on the April thread so I'll see you there 🙂

I remember having the same feeling and worrying loads about a potential ectopic. I now have a 5 mo, so all was well! I hope that's reassuring - I remember all sorts of crampy feelings for the first few weeks.

Thank you ❤️ Same to you. And yes, I'll see you there 😊

ANiceBigCupOfTea · 11/08/2022 22:28

Posted too soon- let us know how the scan goes! Hoping for all good news!

Skylark1990 · 12/08/2022 10:32

Just had the scan. Saw a yolk and gestational sack but no heartbeat yet as too early apparently. But it's in the right place! Phew.

Brilliant!! I was the same, so I'm back next week to see how they have grown.
Hopefully your mind put at ease! What I will say though is if the pain keeps up ring your GP. I was still sore from the UTI so i have been given another course of antibiotics.

Skylark1990 · 12/08/2022 12:59

Thank you all for the kind words and reassurance 😘 really appreciate it @muddlingthrou 😘

@ANiceBigCupOfTea let me know how the scan next week goes - best of luck 😌! I feel much better now too... I feel like I need to learn how to relax and just be at peace now 😂 I hope everything keeps ticking along and nothing else happens in next couple weeks to worry me! Just the small milestones isn't it. Have another scan at 7+1 to check for heartbeat and growth 🙏🤞 will watch out for pain and get another check if it gets worse. No signs of a UTI so that's good for now! Xxx

Hi all can i join! 5 weeks today. Cramping and twinges and constantly running to check if im bleeding or not. Driving me up the wall 🙄

I had a molar pregnancy which required chemo and this is my first pregnancy since ive been cleared to try again so i am very anxious!

Crazylicious · 18/08/2022 01:04

Hi Hopewills24
I’m sorry to hear about your molar pregnancy. Congrats on the new pregnancy. I had a partial molar last year so am pregnant for the first time since then and also 5 weeks and also feeling this pain!

Crazylicious · 18/08/2022 01:05

Are you planning to go in for a scan ? I’m too nervous

Hopewills24 · 18/08/2022 04:44

@Crazylicious im sorry for you too. Such a horrible thing to go through.

Yes im hoping to get a 7 week scan going to call the epu on Friday ill be 5+6 then 🤞🏻 the molar was my first pregnancy so ive never had a positive scan so im super nervous but im a need to know ASAP kind of person 😂

Did you feel sick with your molar? I was reaallly bad and the nausea has already started with this pgncy so makes me extra worried.

Crazylicious · 18/08/2022 10:30

I wish you all the best with the scan!
I felt extremely nauseous with the molar but my symptoms haven’t kicked in yet for this pregnancy.
I might try for an early scan at 7 weeks then. Our one is a walk in service

Hopewills24 · 18/08/2022 13:23

@Crazylicious yes definitely do it. It won't change the outcome but at least you'll know where you stand. Will be crossing my fingers for you let me know how you get on xxx

Hopewills24 · 29/08/2022 11:59

Hi @Crazylicious how are you doing?

We just had our 7 week scan last week and all looks normal. We cried as you can imagine! 😂

Im feeling absolute poo but so glad its not another molar.

Hope your doing ok

X

Crazylicious · 29/08/2022 16:43

Congratulations @Hopewills24 that is great news. I am hoping to have my scan tomorrow as I will be 7 weeks then. I’m super nervous. Thanks for giving me hope and I wish you all the best with the rest of the pregnancy.

Crazylicious · 29/08/2022 16:45
