@ChinChilly so does mine. But then you can buy strollers from birth so aslong as they lay flat I think it’s fine. He has really good neck control that when he sits up he can keep his head up but I still will keep him flat for now. Bless her my boy has had a bad 2 days nap wise but I think it’s because he is teething! πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

ChinChilly · 18/10/2022 17:54

@Fizzybubblegumbottles my LG has really good neck control too.. my friend has had her baby sitting up in the pushchair since 2 months.

I’m 99% sure she is teething too, I thought she had actually cut a tooth last week now I’m not so sure it could be one of those pearl things.

I’m absolutely drained she has screamed and moaned for 2 hours solid this afternoon, she wants her dummy then pushes out now she’s doing the same with her bottles. I feel awful because I can’t seem to do anything for her, this is the first time she’s really been like this and I’m just like 🀯

Fizzybubblegumbottles · 18/10/2022 18:52

@ChinChilly I think it’s more so their chins not on their chest restricting breathing as babies develop at different rates I think my LB would be fine to sit up a little bit in the buggy now lol. I can see white under his gums so I think he is.. can’t have much at 3 months I do have the Ashton and parsons teething gel to use and I do have teethers but he can’t yet hold on to them for too long lol. I do have a teething glove but it’s still a bit too big for his mouth πŸ˜‚ think I’m going to look at the teething type dummy things.

It’s so hard when they are unsettled and nothing works and you just want 5 minutes to yourself! 😩 I mean it was only 10am and I was already done for the day today πŸ˜‚ rolling on half term now so I can actually go back to bed after the morning feed! πŸ₯±πŸ₯±πŸ₯±let’s hope tomorrow is a better day 🀞🏻🀞🏻

ChinChilly · 18/10/2022 19:30

@Fizzybubblegumbottles exactly the same here, can’t hold the teething toys and the glove is too big πŸ˜‚ I found some teething gel for 3 months plus, it seemed to work for a hot second then the screaming commenced again! She’s been screaming since 3 this afternoon and hasn’t slept since 1 😳 I gave her some calpol in the end and she’s settled and gone to sleep… I think I’m in for a rough night 😫

Fizzybubblegumbottles · 18/10/2022 20:05

@ChinChilly oh bless her she must of really needed the calpol! Wow she really didn't want to give in today! I hope she’s ok tonight for you 🀞🏻 my LB has had a little nap on me but will have his bath in half an hour then a bottle. He is very loud right now shouting at everything in front of him πŸ˜‚ must be telling them how much his teeth hurts and is soaked with dribble! He does enjoy nursery rhymes on YouTube and my awful voice singing them πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ think he must remember them being on all day at work πŸ˜‚

KizboBaggins · 19/10/2022 10:00

How are everyone else's babies with eye contact? My little guy isn't very good πŸ˜” the HV has referred him to an ophthalmologist and we're seeing the GP today. Is your baby looking at you and following objects?

It's hard not to get super worried about these things. I'm trying to tell myself he's just taking his sweet time and it's all fine but can't help stressing out πŸ˜•

ChinChilly · 19/10/2022 11:56

@Fizzybubblegumbottles she woke up half hour after my last post screaming again, had a feed and was absolutely knocked out until 1:40 then I was up until 4 with her πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’« seems abit better today but we’ll see how the afternoon progresses. Ahh bless him…my LG has become very vocal it’s very sweet when not in the form of screaming the house down πŸ˜‚ the neighbours must of thought she was being tortured.

@KizboBaggins she seems ok she looks at me and follows me if I move and if she’s particularly interested in an object she’ll follow it, I’m not sure what i should be looking for though! Try not to worry, they do all develop at different rates! I’m sure it’ll be fine. Hopefully seeing the GP will put your mind at ease

ShellUK09 · 19/10/2022 15:10

@KizboBaggins hope things go okay at the GP today. Babies do all develop at different rates, but it's good you are getting things checked out so you can feel reassured. My little one does follow me and objects. Sometimes she looks at me too much and smiles while she is trying to drink her milk and I have to look away for a bit so she concentrates!

We have had a terrible day of crying inconsolably after her 16 week vaccinations early this morning. This set of vaccinations seem to have had a worse impact than the second set. We are on the second dose of capol and hoping we are getting through the worst of it... Thankfully no more vaccinations now until she is a year old πŸ™‚

Fizzybubblegumbottles · 19/10/2022 16:21

@ChinChilly oh bless her how has she been today? My LB wasn’t too bad he woke up a few times during the night wanted his dummy once and the others he went back to sleep himself and woke up at 5.50 this morning gave him a bottle then went down from 7.45-10.15 had another little nap from about 11.30-12.30 then was awake till I did the school run but was screaming was over tired went back to sleep about 3pm but was awake by 3.45 πŸ₯±seems like he is going to have a fussy evening if he doesn’t have another nap soon lol πŸ™„

@KizboBaggins hope your appointment went ok. Babies do develop at different rates so try not to worry. My LB does follow voices and objects I always put baby sensory on YouTube sometimes which encourages tracking.

@ShellUK09 aww hope she is ok bless her! Thankfully the last till she’s 1 πŸ‘πŸ» lots of cuddles today and hopefully she will be ok tonight 🀞🏻I’ve got to book my LBs 16 week ones soon.. his due them the first week of November.

ChinChilly · 19/10/2022 16:35

@Fizzybubblegumbottles she’s was quite unsettled this morning and slept most of it in between crying, she seems better this afternoon so far, fingers crossed! Hoping your little one has a nap so you can avoid a grumpy evening!

@ShellUK09. I’ve heard the 16 week ones are the worst, we’ve got her 12 week ones on Monday, slightly late as her first set were cancelled…dreading it already!

Anybody got any experience with tongue tie I think my LG might have a mild one

Fizzybubblegumbottles · 19/10/2022 18:13

@ChinChilly that’s good bless her. Hope tonight is a better one 🀞🏻 he had a little 40 minute snooze on the sofa now having a bottle.. only 2.5 hours till bath time πŸ˜‚ have no experience with tongue tie sorry have you spoken to your HV or GP? Does it cause any issues with feeding etc

ShellUK09 · 19/10/2022 18:36

@Fizzybubblegumbottles @ChinChilly yes these injections definitely seem the worst! It's not been a good evening so far, she just threw up milk all over herself then was screaming and shivering. She is warm and dry again now and snoozing again but I think we are in for a worrying night 😫 it's horrible seeing your baby so upset.

ChinChilly · 19/10/2022 19:10

@Fizzybubblegumbottles atleast he got a snooze in! Not yet we’ve got a infant feeding team at the local children’s centre so I think I’m going to give them a call and get their opinion. She feeds ok but I’ve noticed her top lip is tucked in when she latch’s on the bottle and today I noticed her tongue doesn’t rest on the roof of her mouth which is apparently 2 of the signs, she’s also quite refluxy and that’s also a symptom πŸ€”

@ShellUK09 oh bless her what a shame, hopefully she’s not too bad for you tonight! I tried to change her vaccination time to the morning so she had the day to shake it off but they only gave me 11:30 instead… fail πŸ˜‚

kiwi17 · 19/10/2022 19:37

@ChinChilly our dd had a tongue tie which we had cut privately, and this ds had one too we had checked at birth and sorted when he was 1 week. It then re attached 5 weeks later and we had it re divided at 7 weeks ish. What do you want to know? We're quite experienced now πŸ˜‚

I think the 8 and 16 week jabs are the worst because of the meningitis jab- 12 weeks weren't too bad for us but not looking forward to the next lot!

annie1994 · 19/10/2022 21:01

@ShellUK09 my little one had his 16 week jabs last week and they’re horrible!! He got quite a high fever and was so unsettled for a couple days. Definitely found them the worst of the 3.

missv556 · 19/10/2022 21:09

@ChinChilly my lo had a slight tongue tie that we had sniped at 2 weeks old. He latched much better once it was sorted. I had it done at the clinic in Solihull just down the road from morrisons in the town centre. Β£175 when I did it

ChinChilly · 20/10/2022 07:13

@kiwi17 ahh well I’m not sure because she does seem to have good movement in her tongue but she tucks her top lip under when feeding and spills abit out of the sides, she’s got refluxy symptoms, her tongue doesn’t always rest on the roof of her mouth but it can.

@missv556 ahh amazing, thank you!

Had another rough night last night, awake and unhappy 1-4, not sure where my happy little content baby has gone the last 2 days have been horrible…surely this isn’t just teething ?

kiwi17 · 20/10/2022 07:42

@ChinChilly could be a lip tie if the tongue has good movement- I would book a gp appointment and they can check for you. Ds has a small lip tie but nothing that's affecting him too much so will leave it. His tongue doesn't always sit at the top either but he can now stick it out of his mouth which he couldn't do before! Do you get lots of hiccups and noise when feeding? That can be signs of a tie as well. Hope you get some answers!

Yep we've definitely gone into another phase - but he's gone into a massive leap this week so I'm guessing that's linked in some where.. plus learning to roll I seem to remember the big milestones disrupt them for a few days

ChinChilly · 20/10/2022 07:48

@kiwi17 we get hiccups occasionally but not all the time, same with noises we get the occasional click but not with every feed and it will only be once or twice. We’ve got a infant feeding team at the childrens centre I’m not sure whether to call them or take her to the GP, a few people on a Facebook group have said GPs are useless at diagnosing them.

I wondered if we were entering a leap or something, she’s also been practicing rolling and seems much more aware, she’s obsessed with watching the dog and wasn’t interested in him in the slightest a week ago

SamanthaVimes · 20/10/2022 09:15

@ChinChilly its really unlikely that a gp will be trained in tongue tie assessment, the infant feeding team is definitely a better bet.

Make sure whoever does the assessment gets a finger in the mouth, saw an ibclc post the other day that you can’t diagnose from looking, you have to feel it as well!

ChinChilly · 20/10/2022 09:28

@SamanthaVimes thought so, I’ll give them a call today, I’m not sure if we’ve left it too late a few private clinics I’ve looked up won’t ship it after 12 weeks old

kiwi17 · 20/10/2022 10:21

@ChinChilly definitely try the feeding clinic first, if not you can try an independent private consultant. My gp was really good and did a proper check but some may not. They will do it up to 6 months I think - after that it's a bit more complicated as they need anaesthetic.. Hope you get some answers!

ChinChilly · 20/10/2022 13:02

@kiwi17 I spoke to the feeding clinic..they weren’t that helpful. So I’ve booked a private assessment and I suddenly feel really nervous and like I don’t want to it. She was talking about relearning how to use her tongue and it all feels really daunting…I also feel horrible for putting her through it 😭

kiwi17 · 20/10/2022 14:17

@ChinChilly aww hand hold! I know it feels awful but I can promise when ds had his done twice he screamed the moment they did it and then went straight on the boob (or can be bottle) and fell asleep immediately. There were no after effects of it. It is a bit of relearning but it can make a massive difference . Also when you go for your consultation they'll assess first and if they don't think it's severe enough or you don't want to they won't divide - it's down to you on the day and whether you want them to or not, a lot of kids have a tongue tie I think and they manage to feed round it and eventually they can stretch out themselves I think? I know how you feel though!

Ejb505 · 21/10/2022 08:43

Hi all. I had my baby 7/7/22. I followed this thread throughout pregnancy (a bit like a stalker as I kept meaning to post but never got up the energy or will to post anything!). But it was really reassuring seeing you all going through what I was.
I've been away from the thread for a while as I've been a bit wrapped up in being a first time mum and all the challenges that is bringing. Hope you all don't mind me jumping in at this late stage, just thought I'd introduce myself!.
It's so reassuring to read what's going on for you guys as its all very familiar!
My daughter is 15 weeks- drooling loads (pre-teething?) and the last few nights unsettled. Think she might be hitting the 4 month sleep regression stage?!
Weve had terrible trouble with reflux and colic. To the extent we are under the paediatrician and she was investigated for milk allergy at one point.
Things seem to be settling somewhat (fingers crossed).
I am lacking other mums to talk to with babies similar age. I don't get to see babies her age so it's nice to read about your babies and be reassured!
Hope you all don't mind me muscling in so I can stop stalking you all on mumsnet πŸ˜‚
