Anyone else waiting for their baby? 39+2 and looking for some company...

Danani · 27/07/2022 15:29

That's it really...
I'm 39+2, bouncing on my birthing ball, eating dates, drinking raspberry leaf tea, going on daily walks, eating spicy foods.....you name it! But no signs of baby coming or imminent labour, and getting slightly impatient now.
If anyone else is (im)patiently waiting on their little one's imminent arrival, this is the place to keep each other company. :)

Oh my gosh me too! I'm getting very impatient, is this your first? I'm literally trying everything even got a vindaloo on the menu tonight 🤣

Danani · 27/07/2022 18:11

@Jcmars01 oh hi! 🙋🏻‍♀️ It is my first yes, can you tell? 😂 The only thing I haven’t tried yet is sex but honestly not sure I can stomach it lol 🙈😂 I feel like a whale, absolutely nowhere near sexy mood so I think I’ll leave that one as last resort. 😂😬

Me! 38 +1 today and so fed up. I've got a 17 month old and finding it so hard running round after him whilst being so pregnant. I'm convinced it'll be easier with a newborn rather than being pregnant - constantly dizzy and tired. The though of another potential 4 weeks makes me want to cry 😴😴😭😭

Jcmars01 · 28/07/2022 18:45

How's it going today @Danani? The vindaloo did nothing last night but I now have dull back pains and horrible acid reflux 🤪 lots of walking today and praying it will happen this weekend!

Dull back pain is a good sign!!! Keep an eye on it, could be very soon for you Grin

Danani · 28/07/2022 22:09

Ahhhh yes @Jcmars01 the back pain sounds rather promising!!! Nothing new on my end…went for a 6km walk today, did a ton of housework too, so really active day but nothing out of the ordinary for me. I know it’s irrational but I feel like I’ll be pregnant forever now 😬🙈😄

How's everyone getting on? I am 38+5 and also feeling like I will be pregnant forever 😅

ShirleyPhallus · 29/07/2022 08:08

Yes me! I’m 39+2 and waiting patiently (not so patiently).

some of my friends have had babies in the last week and it feels like it must be my turn soon…

W00p · 29/07/2022 08:12

39+1 OP! Keep having Braxton Hicks thinking yesss this is it and then it stops. Desperate to meet baby now.

Coco9910 · 29/07/2022 08:44

40+1 today and honestly..nothings happening! I feel like I’ve tried it all. Had a spicy curry, ate pineapple (only 1 though 🤷🏼‍♀️), raspberry leaf tea 3 times a day, 6 dates a date, bouncing on my birthing ball and trying to go for walks but I really struggle walking far. I had such a bad back last night but I think that’s from walking. Even tried sex! I had a sweep on Wednesday and it doesn’t seem to have stirred anything. Going to try a Nando’s today and step up my spice level on that 😅 I honestly think this last bit is the hardest..not knowing when it’s all going to start happening!

Spin4Gin · 29/07/2022 13:00

Im not pregnant but I can sympathise. My baby is now 10 months old and she came 13 days late and I had to be induced, she was not coming out haha. You are doing everything you can and even though it's tough being so heavily pregnant and it's really easy to get impatient, enjoy your last few days of being able to just lounge and chill and do what you need to do. It really is a whole new world when they arrive :-). It's really tough though, I can completely sympathise with you. Have you tied clary sage? Apparently that can help as well

SantiagoSister · 29/07/2022 13:31

Would love to join the (im)patiently waiting for baby thread! 39+1 today and I’m feeling so impatient now. I think I had somehow convinced myself he would come early at around 37 weeks, so now each day feels like a week 😂 I’m eating dates, having spicy food, bouncing on my birth ball and going for long walks, but nothing seems to be starting anything off 😅 I feel no different to weeks ago, the only difference I’ve noticed is that I’m pretty sure my bump has dropped. I know that doesn’t really mean anything in terms of imminent labour though unfortunately 😂

My first pregnancy ended exactly the same way so while I’m trying to be relaxed… internally I’m not at all and trying to urge it along!

PopGoesBang · 29/07/2022 14:36

🙋🏼‍♀️ 38+5, heading off for my third sweep in a bit - so far nothing. Few tightenings here and there. Kinda Hoping the sweep doesn't start anything as have a few things planned for tomorrow with Dd as a final hurrah before she gets a little sister.
I'm a bit of a fraud tho. You're all waiting with no knowing an end but Sunday I'm booked in for induction. Which feels like I have an end in sight - admittedly who knows how long the induction will take but I guess I know it will be sooner rather than later.

Good luck ladies, the wait will be totally worth it.

Coco9910 · 29/07/2022 15:12

@Spin4Gin im trying to see it that way and enjoy relaxing and lazing about while I can, but I’m just so excited to meet the baby 😂

@SantiagoSister same! Everyone said to me they thought I would go into labour early but now I’m over due I feel like everyone gave me false hope 😅 I’m glad she’s fully cooked though 😂 I’ve been trying all those tricks too..wonder if there’s anything else I can try. My bump dropped 2 weeks ago and had a bit of a show 2 weeks ago also and nothing since! Hope you don’t have to wait much longer!

SantiagoSister · 29/07/2022 15:23

@Coco9910 oh the false hope is the worst!! I’m sure it makes it feel so much worse when you expected baby to come early 😩 I can imagine it’s driving you crazy now you’re overdue, especially having had a show a couple of weeks ago as well, that would have got my hopes up for sure! I’ve read a lot of threads on here about trying to start labour off, it’s a real mixed bag of people saying nothing works until baby is ready, to others swearing by the walks, curries, pineapples, dates, sex etc.. at least we know we’re trying all we can 😂 it is nice to know they’re fully cooked as you say though!

So I ended up going to the assessment unit this morning because I felt baby movements a bit mellower and a bit less than usual. I legit thought I was coming for a check and will be home within a couple of hours. Well, that was at 9.30 am and I’m still here, waiting for a free bed and induction! Could not have been any further from the birth plan I had (birth center, all natural everything)…trying very very hard to stay positive, not panic and put it all into perspective but not going to lie - I’m struggling and would really appreciate some positive thoughts my way and any advice / encouragement anyone may have…

@Danani you're in the best place don't forget that and use your voice if you are unsure on anything. Pop some good feel good music on and if you're allowed just go for a little walk or get some fresh air to relax yourself. You've got this, sending love and positive thoughts your way! ❤️💕

Oh bless you, that sounds really tough

i had an induction for my first labour and my advice would be to take all the painkillers you can and remain active where possible. Induction can bring on faster, harder contractions so don’t be surprised if it takes longer than you think, and in particular if you’re on the drip I’d really consider the epidural.

id also recommend you get assessed before they start the induction, if you’re 0 dilated with high, tight and closed cervix it will take a lot longer and may result in an EMCS, so worth discussing your options and consider going straight for a CS.

Coco9910 · 29/07/2022 21:07

@Danani have they said why they are inducing you? You can still have a really positive experience on an induction. If possible ask for a method where you can stay as mobile as possible. I know some inductions can still be done in the birth centre I believe so ask about that. Just think, soon you will have your little one in your arms 💕 Hope it all goes well and will be thinking of you!

It may not be your birth plan but it will still be the most incredible day of your life! Your little one is on the way and that's soooo exciting! Keep positive and remember how incredible your body is and the amazing things it can do! X

User000111 · 29/07/2022 21:12

Ps I'm also 39+4 today, hello due date twin!

Danani · 29/07/2022 21:22

Thank you all!!!

I’ll try to take your advise and think positive and listen to some good music. The reason for the induction they said is the reduced movements (it’s my second time going for this in the pregnancy) and said since I’m full term and basically 2 days away from due date, no point risking it and not taking baby out. The thing that bums me out the most is that in the waiting area partners are not allowed, so he is waiting elsewhere (30 sec away but still), and also no one can tell me how long it’s gonna take and there are no free beds, so rest will be on a chair…
sorry to be a miserable cow, just totally not how I imagined my weekend & mat leave starting and also not how I imagined labour starting…feeling a but sorry for myself. But will try to find something to keep me occupied…just absolutely dreading spending the entire night waiting as well and then being absolutely shattered by the time I get induced/labour. Definitely thinking I’ll ask for that epidural from the start, and also whoever said about getting an exam first to check cervix - I’ll do that and see if any other options are available.
tbh I’ll be very surprised if I’m dialated or anything in that direction, since I haven’t had any symptoms/indication whatsoever.

@Danani hopefully you aren’t waiting too long! Can they let you go home to sleep and come back in the morning so you aren’t trying to sleep on a chair? And at least you can be with your partner. Fingers crossed they get you a bed soon!

Danani · 30/07/2022 00:39

Still no bed; still waiting. And no, they don’t want to let me go…if I go I have to self-discharge basically against their recommendation and come back tomorrow for what sounds like more of the same… 😭
