@Bluehawaii29 Great to hear everything is going well other than the possible GD. Hopefully you will feel more reassured though after your appointment that you'll get to full term and able to try to enjoy the third trimester x

@Bryterlayter1 Urgh sorry to hear you have confirmed GD :( Hopefully it wont be too bad to manage. I hear there are lots of great facebook groups for support if you need them.

@xreadytoglow Glad to hear everything is uneventful with you - my pregnancy has been much the same to be honest, which is why I'm sticking with letting my body do its thing :) My mum was a midwife and is very sceptical of sweeps and inductions (and thinks the number of c sections performed these days is ridiculous) which helps to balance out the consultant conversations - I'm grateful I guess that they will be monitoring once a week from now on just to make sure baby is ok, but also I feel like its that pressure that I "should" be doing an induction that I could really do without.... I think part of labour is mental though, as I was busy this week with things I wanted to attend, and have a wedding tomorrow I wanted to get to. After that's done, I feel my body will know that I'm mentally ready to go and that will help. Still feels very surreal to be this near the end

Overlyanxious · 02/09/2022 18:01

@Bluehawaii29 sorry about the possible GD. I know what you mean about wanting something to come back normal. You can do this though - you're getting so close.

@2mumlife that's good you've get a different viewpoint from your mum. Enjoy the wedding tomorrow.

2mumlife · 05/09/2022 16:01

@Overlyanxious Thank you! Made it to the wedding which I was pleased about, was a lovely intimate affair.

Officially started mat leave today, and its officially my NHS due date (IVF due date isn't until later in the week). I'm pleased I didn't stop working earlier, as it feels weird to have nothing in diary now and to just be waiting around. Its already getting irritating people asking if anything has happened / saying "you must be getting excited" when actually, at best its boring, at worst, actually quite anxiety incucing people assuming the baby will be ok when still births happen and I'm feeling like a baby is still not garaunteed. This would be the downside of declining induction/csection that there is now an indeterminate wait

Bluehawaii29 · 05/09/2022 17:18

@2mumlife aww glad the wedding took your mind off things, well done for coming so far! Yes it will play on your mind until baby makes appearance but I am sure you made the right decision and you are not an older mum with more risks like you said so there’s no reason you can’t wait a little past your due date xx

Bryterlayter1 · 05/09/2022 17:33

@2mumlife woohoo for mat leave and for making it to the NHS due date! Hopefully, the little one will make an appearance soon!

Hope everyone is doing well. Have all my testing kits for blood sugars, so now it's trying to figure out what will spike my blood sugar and therefore needs to be avoided. Apparently everyone with GD is different and some people can tolerate carbs that others can't. I've found out that any bread is out, as even 1 slide of wholemeal absolutely sends my blood sugar rocketing. On the plus side, I am feeling a lot better on the new diet. I was really worried last week that I would need to be signed off sick because I was feeling so bad (tired, dizzy, sick to my stomach, couldn't read words on a screen). That is all reducing now (still tired, but not as much as I was).

Although I would have preferred not to have GD, I'm glad it was diagnosed and that I can now do something about it! Hopefully, I can control it through diet alone.

Bluehawaii29 · 05/09/2022 20:13

@Bryterlayter1 thats great to hear that you are monitoring it so well. I’m still waiting for OGTT on weds but I have been feeling more tired since cutting out juices and chocolate and things I used to love. It’s interesting about the whole meal bread. I had French stick two days this weekend and I had wholemeal bread toastie for lunch and a one with avocado and prawns this eve, I wonder if it has pushed my sugars up more. Do they finger prick testing hurt?

Bryterlayter1 · 05/09/2022 20:26

@Bluehawaii29 I hope everything is OK for you on Wednesday. The finger prick tests are fine so far. I need to take 4 readings per day (fasting in the morning and then an hour after every meal).
The diabetic midwife and all the dietary guidance says to cut out white bread, pasta, rice etc and swap them for wholemeal, but unfortunately for me even the wholemeal bread spikes my blood sugar. I'm on the gestational diabetes Facebook group and everyone is so different. Some people can have a slice of bread with no problem others can't. It appears to be a lot of trial and error with carbs to see what will be OK and what won't for each individual person. Hopefully this won't be an issue for you.

Bluehawaii29 · 05/09/2022 20:46

@Bryterlayter1 thanks for all the info! Glad to know we can support eachother if I do end up having it. I do feel thirsty quite often and tired easily so maybe that’s part of it I’m not sure. It didn’t help with my physical inactivity for the last 10 weeks but I guess it was necessary to get me to this stage. The four times a day testing sounds intense but glad you are finding it ok! I am very interested to see what the results show now on weds. Wonder if cutting out juices and sweet things if enough or maybe I also have a problem processing carbs as I was tending to eat pasta often and jacket potato once a week etc. will be good to know what is the culprit

2mumlife · 06/09/2022 08:00

@Bryterlayter1 Great to hear you're feeling physically better with the new diet, but bread! Oh I love bread, this would make it so sad for me!

Overlyanxious · 06/09/2022 08:51

@2mumlife glad you made it to the wedding. I'm sorry to hear it just feels like you are just waiting now. Hopefully you don't have to wait around too long now.

@Bryterlayter1 sorry to hear about the lack of bread. One of my friends had GD and she found she cut too much stuff out at the beginning and was told she needed to eat more. Glad to hear you are feeling better with the new diet.

@Bluehawaii29 all the best for the test tomorrow.

Bluehawaii29 · 08/09/2022 07:44

@Overlyanxious thank you! Just wanted to let you know the good news, my OGTT was negative! Such a relief, at least one less problem and can get on with my normal appts as planned now x

Overlyanxious · 08/09/2022 11:43

@Bluehawaii29 oh that's brilliant news.

Bryterlayter1 · 08/09/2022 12:26

@Bluehawaii29 that is good news! GD is a pain. After my post the other day about feeling much better on the diet (I do), I've discovered that diet control alone doesn't help my fasting blood sugar levels so I've been put on metformin. Just hoping I won't need insulin, but it is very much day to day. 100% would not recommend 😒.

2mumlife · 08/09/2022 12:41

@Overlyanxious Had my first 'overdue' scan today and baby totally fine - head engaged, no issues with fluid levels or placental blood flow, so still just waiting. I've discovered Dr Sara Wickham who has done a lot of research on induction and advocates for waiting for spontaneous labour - has really helped strengthen my resolve about the decision to wait it out. The main thing thats annoying is actually just people asking if I've had the baby yet (thats gets irritating REALLY fast)

@Bluehawaii29 Great to hear you don't have GD

@Bryterlayter1 That's rubbish you've needed metformin, but you've got this. All worth it in the end right?

Bluehawaii29 · 08/09/2022 14:27

thank you everyone :) yeah it’s a big relief. I would have dealt with it if I did have it but for me food is like the only thing I excited about since can’t go anywhere or do anything so the thought restricting diet as well was very depressing. @Bryterlayter1 i know it must be a pain but my mate said metformin really helped manage here so have every faith it will be fine on metformin and not need insulin
@2mumlife that’s really good you found a good dr and feel better about waiting, I’m sure it will all be worth it! Just hang in there for a bit more x

Overlyanxious · 08/09/2022 15:06

@Bryterlayter1 hoping the metformin works.

@2mumlife that all sounds very positive. Sorry people are being annoying though.

I have midwife tomorrow and another growth scan on Saturday (I didn't realise the NHS did scans on a Saturday).

Overlyanxious · 10/09/2022 15:02

My placenta is still a bit low, but apparently it's moved and the sonographer thinks it will have moved by 36 weeks. Other than that baby is looking all good. Currently on the bigger side.

Hope everyone is doing well x

Bryterlayter1 · 10/09/2022 16:02

@Overlyanxious great news about the placenta moving. Do you have another scan booked in week 36?

Bluehawaii29 · 10/09/2022 16:07

@Overlyanxious great news! Glad baby growing well :)

Overlyanxious · 10/09/2022 16:40

@Bluehawaii29 thanks 😊 yes have another booked at 36 weeks.

2mumlife · 11/09/2022 10:13

@Overlyanxious That’s great news placenta has moved up a bit! Fingers crossed by 36 week scan they won’t have concerns about a vaginal delivery if you want one

had my first hope last night that something might be happening after an hour or so of rhythmic tightening in lower abdomen but alas nothing this morning. Been in a crappy mood as I’ve got into my head baby just isn’t going to come naturally so been feeling really down. Hoping something happens by next consultant appointment on Thursday as I just really don’t want to go down the intervention route but I know it’s getting closer to that ☹️

Overlyanxious · 11/09/2022 19:35

@2mumlife thank you 😊 hoping for a vaginal delivery but also happy to have a c section if needed. Thursday is still a while away so you've still got time - the tightening sounds like a step in the right direction. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Bryterlayter1 · 11/09/2022 20:57

@2mumlife sending you good vibes for labour starting. Fingers crossed baby makes a move soon.

Bluehawaii29 · 13/09/2022 14:32

@2mumlife good luck with everything lovely ❤️ When baby is in your arms all this waiting will be worth it xx

xreadytoglow · 15/09/2022 12:28

@2mumlife hope everything is okay! 🤍
