Hi!

I'm due my 2nd child in June and my son will be 2 years old just after. So I need a twin pushchair.

I've disregarded the idea of a side-by-side style as doorways etc. just look to hard to navigate and the seats never look wide enough for my son to sit in comfortably (he's quite broad). I also dislike a lot of the bulkier looking ones where they sit behind each other as they look too heavy to push over rough ground and I do a lot of dog walking.

So, I thought the Phil and Teds was my only really option. Which looks great for pushing and walking the dog - but I know my son wouldn't like being stuck underneath when baby gets older and I'm desperate for a pushchair where he faces me!

Then I found the iCandy Pear... which I can tell is going to be hard to find one in a store to have a look at! It seems just what I'm looking for although sounds a bit heavy. Wondered if anyone had one and used it with similar aged children? On any pictures I can find it looks like the toddler wont have much room no matter which way I put the baby in...and would it be possible to use a carry cot so baby could lie flat, with toddler in a seat?

I know I've got ages yet to decide but it's a nightmare trying to find something that will keep son happy as well as be suitable for baby!

Notso..

and you were probably potty trained at 3 months, politicians were honest, and summers were always hot, it always snowed at Christmas, and Wagon Wheels were bigger (my dad's favourite claim)...

NotSoSkinnyNow · 28/01/2009 22:35

yes! And we don't know how good we had it! She had to hop to school cos she only had the one wellington!

Anyways, back to buggies! I sent iCandy an email to try and find out about the rumoured new peach due out in
june but havn't heard back yet. Will keep you posted!

Hi!

I'm testing out the new ICANDY PEACH at the moment for ICANDY before it goes on sale this spring/sumer.

I have to say I love it, I have a 23 month old and my baby is due next month so I'm only using it as a single at the moment. I don't find it heavy at all, I'm only 5'2 and quite petite so I'm not the strongest person plus I'm heavily pregnant but its no effort to collapse it, I can even do it one handed! before i got the PEACH I was using a mamas and papas pramette and i had started to find that difficult to get up curbs etc and finding it hard going but I honestly find it really easy now with the PEACH, its a dream to push. I don't know the weight of the PEACH but I'm sure its a lighter version of the PEAR, it must be if i can lift it! ha ha

I have looked at all the other doubles but I prefer ICANDY it ticked all my boxes, it was important to me that my new born has a carry cot to sleep in and that the pushchair could fit in shop doorways!

If I wasn't testing out the PEACH now i would of bought the PEAR with out a doubt.

This is a link to there website if your trying to find a stockist you can find it on there www.icandyuk.com/

If anyone has any questions let me know

Hi Cyrille,

Thanks for posting! Sounds like the Peach is going to be great!

Have you seen the pear though? Just wondering if you could compare the two. Are the seats much bigger in the peach?

I have heard back from iCandy. They do not have a release date for the peach yet, and they did not give me any info about the differences between the new one and the pear. However, she did send me the price list. The rrp for the pear tandem is 518.99 (can't find pound sign!), and for the peach blossom twin is 724.99.

IMO the peach would need to be an awful lot better than the pear to justify the price difference!

Cyrille · 03/02/2009 21:13

I have seen the Pear but it was way back in October now when I looked at it and I can't really remember how big the seats etc were on it, sorry!

I can tell you that on the Peach they go more narrow where the feet go in the seat or carry cot. So its more streamlined and seems to fit together better than the Pear, its not as bulky and there seems to be more space between the 2 seats. The hood bit on the seat is adjustable you can higher it up if you have a tall toddler. I'm just looking at the pictures of the Icandy Pear now trying to jog my memory....my toddler is 2 years old next month and he's about the height he is supposed to be if not a bit taller and he doesn't look too big for the seat he looks fine if that helps you at all.

I do think it is a lot better than the Pear they have made some good improvements.

The brakes are different its a lot easier to put on and off. The frame that the seats clip to convert it to a double are less than half the size of the frame needed on a Pear. Its really small no where near as big as the Pears. Its that small that I just leave my adapters for the car seat and the adapters to turn it into a double in a shopping bag in the boot of my car so I don't forget them.

I struggled to get the hang of collapsing the pear but with the Peach I've got the hang of it no problem.

I think if that price they have given you includes all the seats/carry cot, adapters etc then its well worth it. Your getting a lot of kit there for your money and its good quality I am a firm believer you get what you pay for!

I have a VW Golf and it all fits in my boot fine, and I don't find it heavy to lift in and out at all and as said before I'm only 5'2 so I'm not the strongest person, I'm afraid I don't know what the weight is of it but I do know that its lighter than the Pear.

I've looked at all others doubles, loved first wheels but wouldn't fit in all doorways, I hate how the new born in phil and teds look like they are slide in the shopping basket underneath the toddler. I wouldn't hesitate in buying a ICANDY if I didn't have the peach now and I would of bought the Pear. For me it ticked all my boxes,

It wasn't too high - some push chairs i tried i couldn't see over them to see where i was pushing!

I can adjust the handle height

Its sturdy

The toddler has a proper seat

The newborn is in a carry cot - I was early with my first and he was a small baby so I also think its better for a baby to be in a carry cot and then they are comfortable.

Good sized shopping basket which you can always access

It can be used as a single or double push chair

Its easy to push

It can fit in shop doorways! so many shop door ways arent wide enough for a twin.

You can also fit a maxi cosi car seat to it if you want to but like I said before I prefer mine to be in a carry cot or seat so I wasn't really bothered about that feature.

I hope all that info helps you

I am in the same situation i'm due in may and daughter will be 2 in june. I didnt want to buy a double buggy as daughter isnt a big fan of the pram she wants to walk everywhere, so i have bought a buggy board and a baby dan seat for on top of the carry cot. I was unsure if she was going to be too young for the buggy board, but i put it on her pram just now to let her get used to it before the baby comes and i cant get her off of it - she loves it! I think she feels she is pushing the pram, and just now she puts her doll in the seat when she is "pushing" so i think she will think she is "pushing" the baby when it comes along. Not had a chance to try the baaby dan seat out, but think it looks quiet good.

I have also been given a loan of a double buggy now and will use it for emergencies it is a side by side, which i wasnt too kean on but once I had a look at it it is not as wide as i thought it was going to be. But i dont plan to use it too much.

Shenksa · 17/03/2009 22:27

how do you become one of those people who get to test out new buggies before there on the market e.g. icandy peach?

Machalatte · 28/03/2010 00:04

g4grapes,

I live in london and would appreciate if I could come round and have a look at your leebruss zoom. Am very interested to buy one but need to see it physically before I make the decision.
The nearest stockist is in Lancashire which is 2.5 hrs away.
Please let me know.

Many thanks.

newmomma · 28/03/2010 11:34

i'm going to have a 15/16 month gap and have got the icandy peach blossom.

although it does have the inline seats for when the youngest is a bit bigger - it allows you to attach your maxicosi to it (facing you) for when baby is small...

i'm only using it in single mode at the moment - but I LOVE IT!
