I don't have any. Not anywhere. And I was huge - put on 17 kgs, and had to wear pregnancy clothes at eighth week of pregnancy.

If it helps anyone, I used Biotherm's anti-stretch mark cream/gel every day, twice a day. And every night, I smothered myself with almond oil. All of this from breasts to knees, from fourth month onwards.

Everybody I know who has used cocoa butter got stretch marks. I am inclined to believe it is worthless for stretch mark prevention.

StripeyMamaSpanx · 16/01/2008 19:31

I used cocoa butter and avoided stretchmarks.

But I suspect it makes no difference what you cover yourself in - you either will or won't.

I used various things - mama mio, body shop cocoa butter stick, santctuary mum-to-be, clarins oil - not a sausage. I am incined to think it's a genetic thing as my mum never had any either.

HarrietTheSpy · 16/01/2008 21:25

I didn't...but that said I have the most celluite of anyone I know, even when I was at my most trim...and the shortest legs...poss smallest breasts...could go on so I felt it was fair, in the scheme of things...

Octothechildherder · 16/01/2008 21:26

no none nada have had 3 and no sign

bogie · 16/01/2008 21:27

I got really bad streck marks but not untill the last 3 weeks

char861 · 16/01/2008 21:41

I have got one on my butt which I noticed yesterday (im 33 weeks) got a couple on my breats with ds 1 but they did go from a B to F cup (YIKES) but they do fade. I took a herbal thing 1st pregnancy called calc flour which helps stretch your skin from inside, or something like that. My sis took it too and she has 2 kids and no stretch marks. Her boobs never ballooned like mine though. All part of being a woman I guess.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 16/01/2008 21:44

Stretchmarks are down to skin type and skin type only.

If you lack collagen in your skin, no amount of cocoa butter will prevent them. Although it may help stop the itching and discomfort associated with them.

If you have very elastic, collagen rich skin, you wont get stretchmarks.

It really is as simple as that.

I rather like my stretchmarks. They are the marks of my being a mother.

I thought I was gonna be lucky and get away with it as I didn't get stretch marks until I was about 28-29 weeks pg with DD. They just appeard one morning
But they are fading now, 8 weeks later

bethoo · 17/01/2008 09:50

i did not get any though my mother is riddled. i put it down to slow pregnancy weight gain and lashings of baby oil morning and night!

chrissnow · 17/01/2008 10:07

i didn't get any until 37 weeks with dd2 and they were awful all kind of split and raw (and sore) MW even commented "poor thing" she said. They are still horrible 18 months later. I wish I knew a cure. They make me feel sick. Can't look at myself naked at all.

slim22 · 17/01/2008 10:48

Got mine pre- babies when yo yo dieting as a teenager (silvery marks on my hips/buttocks)
None with pregnancy.
Probably because now I religiously slap on oils and creams & take omega oils supplements.

Agree depends on your luck. I take from my father's side (mediterannean genes). My mum 65 and has perky breasts, firm bottom and taught skin. So does my sister at 42 after 4 pregnancies

slim22 · 17/01/2008 10:49

BTW there is a cure.
It's a laser therapy (thermage I think) which apparently works well.

spugs · 17/01/2008 10:52

apparently 90 % of us get them so if you dont your lucky

with dd1 i got a couple on my boobs, calves and inner thighs but my bum was like a zebra (its where i put most of the weight) none on my stomach though thank god. with dd2 a few of the old ones went red again but no new ones and with this dc (30 weeks) they havent done this yet. plenty of time though . my sis got them really badly on her stomach and i have to agree with whoever said earlier its the texture thats bad not the silveryness (sp?)

scaryhairycat · 17/01/2008 10:53

Got loads on my stomach with ds - looked like a road map of Britain. With this one I don't have any new ones but all my old ones that went silvery have now turned a lovely shade of mauve.

chrissnow · 17/01/2008 10:57

yeah mine are like grooves all the way from rib cage to actually on fanjo!!

scaryhairycat · 17/01/2008 11:07

chrissnow I can't even see my fanjo atm - probably just as well! God only knows what lurking down there! (The grand canyon equivalent of stretch marks quite possibly!)

vixenwasp · 22/01/2008 16:32

I got them on my boobs and hips etc when I hit puberty and so I thought that life would be kind and not give me any preg ones... I was also fine until about 30 weeks when I got one each side of my bump, now (at 38 weeks) I have many more that look like huge red tiger stripes either side of my belly button.

They are so red and very sensitive. Think its just your type of skin, you either get them or you don't regardless of how much bio oil you use!

Wondering how they will look when baby is born and my bump has gone down, can't imagine it.

belgo · 22/01/2008 16:38

I got them on my thighs during puberty, after a growth spurt.

On my bump during the final weeks of pregnancy.

And on my boobs when they became engorged with milk - ouch

Mumblesmummy · 23/01/2008 13:31

I can't believe I missed this thread!!!!!!! I'm 24+3 and I have started with them already and they look GROSS!!!!!!! They're all purple and feel really grooved. My belly bar is a complete mess, and the bulk or my stretchies are right in the middle of my tummy in a band........... WHY IS THIS!!!!???????????? I know I've got a big bump but for the love of God, I didn't think I'd start this early. Especially because I have lovely soft tummy skin and have used every lotion and potion going. I'm wondering if it's coz I've done a lot of tanning in my life

FourPlusOne · 23/01/2008 21:53

Am on third pregnancy and have had none on my tummy so far. A couple on my hips from puberty and 2 pregnancies, and a couple on my boobs, but all silvery now. Really hoping I don't get any on this (my last) pregnancy! I use loads of body lotion but who knows if it helps or not (soothes the itching though). I really rub it in well, and that, I have heard, helps more than the actual lotion as it gets the circulation going. I did buy some expensive stretch mark cream the other day as a treat . Usually have cocoa butter or something.

gingercat12 · 25/01/2008 14:04

I do not think I have any at 34 weeks, but I cannot be sure as half of my bump I cannot see...

turtle23 · 26/01/2008 11:38

I'm 32 weeks and have had breast ones since 25 weeks. But then, they were a B and now an E. And I still have 8 weeks plus BF to go...gulp.
Have also gained 22 kilos, so am waiting for the morning that I wake up zebra-like.
