Me! I have flames rising from my pants! Some are about and inch wide right under where the bump was.
One consultant who examined my huge DS2 bump asked if I had has some kind of botched surgery in the past! [shcok]

'Err, no Dear, they are stretchmarks!'

SheikYerbouti · 16/01/2008 18:12

Mu consukltant, when he examined me in my 2nd pregnancy said "Dear &GOD^ woman, I don;t think I have ever seen that mnany stretch marks!"

FrannyandZooey · 16/01/2008 18:13

me, didn't get them until late on and they are quite pale

also have them on calves (putting on weight during pg) breasts (getting engorged while bf) and arms (working out at gym!)

they are all fine and silvery and you need to look in a certain light to see them. The texture of skin on the stomach is the problem really, not the look of the stretchmarks themselves

LoveAngel · 16/01/2008 18:14

I got a few on my breasts and inner thighs in the second trimester and thought I'd had a luck escape. I have some beautiful pictures of me with my naked belly on display at 38 weeks pregnant, and there isn't a mark on me. Unfortunately, at around 40 weeks, some small marks started to appear on my abdomen, and by around 41 weeks they raged all over my stomach and were really bad. You couldn't really see how bad they were until after my son was born, though. He is 3 next month and they have faded loads, although still visible.

peanutbear · 16/01/2008 18:19

I have the map of the london underground on my stomach they are very wide as well

when i had ds2 they stretched even more and bled I hate them

colditz · 16/01/2008 18:40

most people do, if you are prone to them you will get them regardless. I am COVERED, on my calves as well as tummy and boobs.

MAMAZON · 16/01/2008 18:45

i only had one after Ds but i had polyhydramnia with Dd so am now covered.

how these celebs go from being a size 0 to then huge with bump and back to 0 again without so much as an ounce of flab let alone a strecth mark is beyond me

CatIsSleepy · 16/01/2008 18:47

i didn't get any, think i was lucky that dd came out a week early

Wolfgirl · 16/01/2008 18:50

I didnt with both my prenances. suffered every thing else though. But I carried small with both of them, maybe that has something to do with it.

MrsKitVonD · 16/01/2008 18:51

Ive got loads, and i mean LOADS, everywhere,

Belly, thighs, calves, boobs!

Wolfgirl · 16/01/2008 18:52

prenances ? huh. pregnancies. DOH

PanicPants · 16/01/2008 18:53

I didn't have any.

Haylstones · 16/01/2008 18:55

I've got a couple on my boobs that appeared when bf and one on my stomach from a scar from an operation I had a few years ago (spread up from scar that was about an inch long- sm about same size). So far I haven't got any on my stomach apart from this one- currently 34+ weeks and already had a dd so fingers crossed...
I have to admit that every now and then I stand up and make dh to examine me from all angles to check I haven't delveloped any more

sambrads · 16/01/2008 18:57

i am so surprised at how many of us have them any one i talked to were like no my belly is just perfect and i was shocked !!!

i didnt get any til i went on hols in tenerife i think i got a bit of sun burn and then 30 weeks they started to appear was quite embarrased when i went to check ups and had to show my belly but i am sure they have seen worse!!!!!

they are very faded now thank god!!!

i think if your going to getthem you will get them!!!

I don't have any. ds arrived at 42 weeks. My mum got none too. I reckon it's genetic.

DrNortherner · 16/01/2008 18:59

I did get a hairy tummy tough

Cam · 16/01/2008 19:06

I have none, 2 pregnancies, one v young and one v old

I've always thought they were caused by hormones affecting the collagen

sambrads · 16/01/2008 19:08

well they just come with pregnancy but your wee baby is worth it!!!!!

LoveAngel · 16/01/2008 19:09

I don't know if it's genetic. My mum didn't get any, and none of my aunty's on my dad's side did either.

EmMcK · 16/01/2008 19:09

I got some on my stomach suddenly at about 38 weeks, but then DS arrived so I never got to see them in their full glory had they been given another two weeks to spread.
I got the hairy tummy too, why does no one tell you about THAT, hmmm

biglips · 16/01/2008 19:10

i got a few around my hips and faint ones around my belly under the belly button. Mum got no stretch marks at all. Dunno whether it was the age as she just turned 20 when she had her first born and i was 29 (5 weeks before i turned 30) with my first born

good2goss · 16/01/2008 19:18

Didnt get any with dd1 but only had a small bump. Went very big with ds but luckily no stretch marks anywhere......just found out im pregnant again and everyone thinks im going to get them with a vegence this preg but i agree with it being in the genes and im older and wiser now so wouldnt bother me if i got them anyway (yes im saying that now!!) lol......

Izzybel · 16/01/2008 19:19

I have always had stretchmarks on my body from when I grew up. When I was little I suddenly shot up really quickly, and knew I was bound to get them during pregnancy as I thought my skin would be prone to them. I was sooooo smug when I didn't get them.... until 38 weeks hit grrr! They're only on the lower part of my tummy though and I'm not too bothered about them. They have faded and I'm hoping that they will fade even more as DD is only 7 mo . You can hardly see the ones on the rest of my body. I see the pregnancy ones as my mummy medals .

hana · 16/01/2008 19:19

none on my tummy but some on hips

Bluestocking · 16/01/2008 19:28

None from pregnancy but I have a few on my hips /thighs from growing very fast during puberty. Neither my mum nor sisters got them while pregnant either.
