@Somatronic yes I've found anything maternity related seems to only exist online nowadays! Although m&s still seem to do maternity/nursing bras in store if that helps at all.

larrythelizard · 29/07/2022 11:32

Also don't forget that lots of foods (off the top of my head cereal and bread) are fortified with folic acid @Somatronic.

I have properly run out of steam @InkyPaper so tip runs will be left to DH for sure. As I think will be putting anything in the garage ready for the tip runs 🀣. You should accrue all holiday and bank holidays when you're off and be able to use them when you're back. I can also carry up to 20 days A/L to afterwards so have done that so my last month of Mat leave will be at full salary. Are there any policies online anywhere? Ours are written so badly that it took about 10 reads to understand them!

Done a bit of work and a couple of useful bits and now sat in front of the commonwealth games which I'm very happy about! Need to shower and dress properly as I need to go and get DS a bit later (have told the ILs it'll be after the England netball match at 12 though). Regretting not taking them up on having the boy all day as I am very tired and still crampy! And parenting solo all day tomorrow...!

Aah just coming to say that I think I've just scored a tripp trapp chair for Β£10 - what a steal! (RRP Β£220)

Soph0105 · 29/07/2022 13:23

Cheapo cheapo is the way @Somatronic you'll be all over the place size wise for ages. I got some nice ones from Dunnes???

Minster2012 · 29/07/2022 15:52

Well that was the most hideous shopping trip ever but anyway. Tears later we survived. Points knocked off for Tesco who, when I needed 2 trolleys (cos if you have a child in the seat it basically takes up half the trolley) the. Couple of crates of beer & nappies fill the rest! they sent a guy out with me & the other trolley to my car who then refused to help pass me anything or lift any bags or crates of beer due to bad back. That sent me over the brink.

Anyways, yes @Somatronic, def think no reason to freak out, except that I started out a D to DD cup & ended as a HH πŸ˜†

@larrythelizard I command you to say yes to any offers of DS minding. Could you swap the rest of the day for part of tomorrow?!

@Juno231 that's a right win!! You find some great stuff!

@InkyPaper with the "tough titties" if he thinks it may impact your handover, I'd put in holiday requests for every weds off or whatever you want. I hate it when you don't get answers

Somatronic · 29/07/2022 16:03

@Juno231 a tenner! Unreal. Facebook marketplace? I don't use it but people seem to find all sort of bargains on there.

Thanks for the bra tips everyone!

Vil10 · 29/07/2022 19:19

@kaylsd that's exactly what I think? She didn't want to do it so gave a half hearted effort! Oh I've had 3/4 different midwives throughout my care an all of them have passed comment on where I want to give birth because it isn't the centre they work at! It's very annoying! I can't believe I'm next on the list!! But for some reason I have a feeling you or @Juno231 will be before me! Food dates before the nesting stage sound perfect!!

@paintfairy enjoy your newborn bubble! Just rest and cuddle, you don't need to worry about anything else!!

@Minster2012 yep! Literally just before and after she'd done it she was saying she doesn't understand why they offer them before 40 weeks and she's been doing this job a long time and it's a new thing but she doesn't understand it etc, I thought well to be honest I don't care about your opinion just do it🀣

@larrythelizard I keep clinging onto "baby will come when baby is ready" and I'm not even over due yet but I'm fed up!!! I hope you get your ELCS date soon, I'd have thought they'd want you to have it and be prepared by now!!

@DKDK123 oh I really hope so! I did feel so disappointed but feel okay about it now, it's just one of those things isn't it!!

@bez91 well to be honest it didn't feel uncomfortable in the slightest I wanted to tell her to keep tryingπŸ˜‚ my next midwife app is next Wednesday when I'll be 40+2!

@BellatrixK he's been a saint honestly! I'm glad yours is stepping up too and being proactive, I definitely feel like having a good house sort through is part and parcel of pregnancyπŸ˜‚ I really really hope so🀞🏼 glad you had a lovely time in Cumbria!! Wooo to the milestone 24 weeksπŸ₯³

@becarefuloutthere im going to ring up to try and get one tomorrow then my next app is Wednesday so will ask for one then as well if it doesn't work tomorrow!!

@Soph0105 hmm maybe you're right, I just want to feel like I'm doing something because I'm so fed up now!! Ohh bless him, hopefully the calpol will help!!

@Juno231 yep she wasn't helpful at all!! I really hope my baby comes any day but I think he/she is going to make us wait a while!
I hope your cramps mean something, I've had them on and off for about a week now and every time I thought it meant something but noπŸ₯΄ a tenner??? Unreal!!

@InkyPaper 27 weeks! How exciting!! Very annoying your boss isn't clued up on your mat leave though!!

@Minster2012 that guy seems odd, comparing really isn't what he should be doingπŸ₯΄ I'd have lost my shit with the Tesco helper!!!

Well woke up feeling slightly better with my cold and with a list of do's and dont's from OH, he then came home and made me 4 smoothies for over the weekend packed full of goodness bless him, but now I'm starting to feel shitty again and fed up!! I'm ringing the birth centre in the morning to try and get another sweep tomorrow! Also dropped my group b strep swab off on Monday and they said if I don't hear within 1-2 days then take it it's negative, hadn't heard anything so was happy, got a phone call earlier to say it was positive😫 they have said I can still have a water birth though I'll just need to come out every 4 hours to have the antibiotics but after reading up on it they haven't really told me much, says as soon as I think I'm in labour I should go into hospital so I can have the antibiotics straight away and shouldn't labour at home, also there's some scary stuff on the internet about it too, but from what I can gather it can only be passed to baby on delivery and not throughout pregnancy?? Or can someone else confirm this for me please?? I know it's so common especially in pregnancy but it's made me feel really shit, think I'm just getting those end of pregnancy lows and with a bad back, a bad cold and 39+4 with no signs of baby arriving I'm getting fed up!!

Juno231 · 29/07/2022 23:11

@Vil10 hey I'm GBS+ as well and it's really so low risk I promise! Something ridiculous like up to 4 in 10 women have it and and clearly most of them never know and everyone is fine. To be on the safe side they'll want you in as soon as waters break purely as it increases risk of infection. You should still be able to have a water birth as you'll just be on an IV drip anyway. Lastly is that they'll keep you and baby in for 24h for monitoring afterwards just to make sure everything is ok. But honestly the risks are super low and they're just being extra cautious.

Franklydear · 30/07/2022 09:39

@InkyPaper my vet suggested balloons, the cat will hate them, a couple of times of jumping on that, and they won't go near the cot, he suggested to fill the cot with them before baby arrives, and the cat will feel sorry the baby got put in there

2020mission · 30/07/2022 10:22

Sorry I'm only managing to dip my head in occasionally lately due to job interviews, house hunting and a no napping 7 month old πŸ˜…

This whole Group Strep B thing still puzzles me as I wasn't even tested for it. I don't know how they work out who to test or is it just NHS Scotland that neglect to? Definitely don't think you should worry @Vil10 given they didn't even bother to check if I had it it can't be that big a deal? It's good they are taking better care of you and baby.

The water birth etc thing is also an alien concept to me as they didn't even offer it as an option to me. Near the end of pregnancy I asked A midwife (as I never saw the same person twice the all through pregnancy) and she just said "we don't do birth plans, that's out of date" 😐 so I had absolutely nothing written down. Thankfully on the day I went from 1-10cm in 11 hours so I didn't really have the time for water birth or anything else but if I had ended up with a labour that lasted days I don't know how I would have coped without some plans in place. Honestly looking back I don't know how I copied with such rubbish antenatal care πŸ˜‚ didn't even have any antenatal classes to go to. Totally winging it here.

whatwonder · 30/07/2022 12:14

Very much not caught up on this thread, just popping on to say wahoo congrats @paintfairy !! Sounds like you absolutely smashed it! Hope you and baby girl are both doing well and adjusting to newborn life 🀍

whatwonder · 30/07/2022 12:45

Also @Juno231 i had a water birth and went in for monitoring 3 times (once during a MW appointment because the MW wasn’t sure of the HR). Bb girl had an elevated heart rate on the Doppler a few times during the labour so I had to go up to the labour ward from the birth centre for monitoring twice but once they got a normal rhythm they moved me back down and I went back into the pool at 10cm and was there for the entire 2nd stage (45mins). They just used the Doppler every 10-15mins

BellatrixK · 30/07/2022 15:36

@becarefuloutthere totally can imagine you not thinking about number 2 yet… I’m not entirely sure my friend (and a close family member with 2 under 2) exactly planned it! I didn’t realise that about IVF and breast feeding either. I cannot really imagine having one yet nevermind 2! Is better get used to it!

@Minster2012 that is the best thing about a child’s birthday surely? The cake?! I love that story- it honestly melted my heart! Rolling over together ❀️ Bella is so good with children- she loves them, but she is still growing into her very long legs so I worry she’ll bop the baby by accident. I’m sure they’ll get used to each other! Oh gosh- at least MIL is on your side, although maybe a bit much!

@larrythelizard oh no! You aren’t having the best time at the moment. So close to getting your date now though… 2 days! I’m also up for giant bags of Pom bears!

@Franklydear your knitting stall looks amazing! How did it go?

@Soph0105 as long as they sleep what else matters?!

@kaylsd I thought that yesterday… can’t wait to have coffee without wondering how much caffeine I might want later in the day. Or eat without fear of heartburn!

@Juno231 excellent wee tip for later on! And how exciting that things are getting going for you too. So much going on at the moment on our bus!

@Somatronic yes!! Early baby in time for Christmas is the wish! We have a tradition of champagne on Christmas Eve, I’d be gutted to miss that! I’ve gone for an M&S nursing bra so far that has been great.

@InkyPaper it really shouldn’t be that hard to organise maternity- he really should educate himself! Loving the baby protection from the cat… there’s so much to think about! I can’t believe that you’re almost in your third trimester, I think things have really sped up lately!

@Vil10 sorry that you’re feeling rubbish. Seriously keep up the self care and let OH look after you- he seems to be doing a wonderful job.

@whatwonder lovely to hear from you!

I have just found out that a friend (well, my dog’s friend’s owner πŸ˜‚) is 16 weeks pregnant. We walk our dogs together at the weekend and they’re a lovely couple. They live around the corner and I’m so excited to have a mum friend so close.

whatwonder · 30/07/2022 16:00

@BellatrixK so good to have a mum friend close by! You two can go on your hot mum walks together 😎

@Vil10 sorry about the back pain- hopefully it goes away soon and this baby makes their appearance shortly!

@becarefuloutthere i hope the sleep regression calms down soon. I am entirely in denial about that, the newborn sleep stage is hard enough. In my head, as soon as she’s sleeping through the night she will do it forever πŸ€₯

@Minster2012 happy birthday to X! Hope he had a good day, and hope you got some rest in as well?

can’t remember whose in laws consistently came over at nap time but they would have gone under the patio for sure!

oh and @Franklydear @Minster2012 just started virgin river, needed an easy watch whilst breastfeeding. It’s all filmed in and around Vancouver (where I’m from!). Cheesy but good so far

Franklydear · 30/07/2022 16:10

@BellatrixK a mixed bag I'm afraid, there weren't many people there at all, the free bouncy castle didn't have a queue quiet, but I got a potential order for a bundle for a newborn, and a bit of interest from other people, and the experience to learn, there's a farmer market near me, I might go a couple of times at the end of summer/autumn, bonus point : little girls like my cushions and bags! Nothing sold on the day, bit I'll get business cards so people can get back to me later

Vil10 · 30/07/2022 17:42

@Juno231 I thought you were too!! You have reassured me though, most women aren't tested for it so I'm glad that I was so at least I actually know now and can prevent any risks!! Even though obviously you'd want to go home I'm happy with the staying in to be monitored, as long as baby is okay that's all that matters!! Thankyou!!

@2020mission from what I've gathered they've recently started a trial to see the benefits of testing in pregnancy, so I was told about it, and given the choice to do the swab, but from what i know from speaking to other women, lots of them weren't even offered it, so god knows!! They dont do birth plans??? That's so odd?? It doesn't sound the best antenatal care, I've been complaining about mine too really, I've had no classes or advice or anything really! Here's to winging itπŸ₯΄

@BellatrixK he really is! Thankyou!! It's always lovely having mum friends especially when they live near you!!

@whatwonder I bloody hope so too🀞🏼 hope you're doing well!!

Well I decided last minute to book a sweep in for today and she managed it!! Was quite uncomfortable but she had a real good rummage and managed it and I had a bloody show too, she said I was about 1.5-2cm, had some cramping and a bit of bleeding since but been speaking to my midwife friend and sending her pics and she's said it's completely normal, so just keeping my fingers crossed that it's worked🀞🏼

2020mission · 30/07/2022 19:03

You can't be too far off then hopefully @Vil10 I got a sweep done on the 23rd dec and she said I was 1.5cm with a 'favourable cervix' and I had similar cramping for the rest of the day. Sadly still stayed pregnant up until the induction on the 26th though πŸ˜… but it moved so quickly just with the gel inserted so I reckon I was about to go on that day anyway. I was leaking waters just over an hour after that. Hopefully baby will be here soon!

Minster2012 · 30/07/2022 21:01

Right I've vaguely read

@Vil10 🀞🏻🀞🏻🀞🏻🀞🏻🀞🏻🀞🏻

Honestly if anyone wants a good nights sleep host a childrens party. Shattered does not even come close! They haven't even come to collect the bouncy castle yet though so I can't get onto pjs
Hmmmmm
Night ladies

DKDK123 · 31/07/2022 12:26

Well it's time for me to go hat shopping, DS asked my friends wee girl to marry him yesterday and she said yes πŸ˜‚

Was hoping to peek in and see a few early babies make an appearance.....maybe tomorrow πŸ˜‚

kaylsd · 31/07/2022 13:25

@juno231 how’s the cramping going hunny? Any signs of your little girls early arrival? Hopefully not too long away now for you! Keep us posted on how you get on with your MW and contesting that birthing pool option because it doesn’t seem right! I still get up at least 2-5 times a night for wees despite everything πŸ€£πŸ™ˆ
@somatronic I just live in non wired nonpadded bras from Asda & matalan, so comfortable! I did size up on the early days but when my boobs just kept getting bigger I just thought I’m going to be better off with the sport bra type!
@minster2012 10th of august is my section date :)! So I’ll be 5 days early, got my pre op this Friday coming :) I’ve seen 3 sections as a STN so I’m not worried but bringing DH so he can ask questions to give him reassurance cause he’s more worried than me bless him! Your party looked so fun, B looks so cute in the photo with someone holding her 😍 glad X had an amazing time worth the mess for sure!
@larrythelizard do you have a consultant review tomorrow or this up coming week to potentially get your ELCS date? ☺️
@inkypaper I was about to second what @larrythelizard said, have a look on your local policies for your company in relation to Mat leave and then see if you can go above anyone in particular if your finding it difficult communicating what needs to be discussed with your manager?
@2020mission winging it is sometimes the best way! You are doing an amazing job regardless so you’ve done it this far may aswell continue as you are sweet!
@bellatrixK awww it’s always lovely to have people nearby also with little ones! One of the girls I used to work with is pregnant with a little boy and there’s only 5 week between us so I feel the exactly same :’) she’s had a horrendous pregnancy in comparison bless her
@vil10 so glad your sweep worked sugarpie! As you know I’ve already said my predictions for you eeeek I think your gonna be next one on the list for the baby to join the bus πŸ₯Ή let’s hope the cramps continue for progress and your little one isn’t too far away!
@dkdk123 I get a lot of my fascinators off Etsy:) I’ve got my BIL wedding next month which I have no idea what to wear as I don’t know what size I’ll be or what I’ll be doing (breastfeeding wise) but I’m sure I’ll figure something out! As for the early babies hopefully mine stays put until the week after but we shall see ;)

larrythelizard · 31/07/2022 14:01

That is a serious bargain @Juno231! This is where living in a small town is not ideal as limited bargains on marketplace!

Hope cold is gone today @Vil10. Sweep sounds like it was worth suffering through 🀞🏼🀞🏼🀞🏼

Jeez that all sounds like a lot @2020mission and that's without looking after a baby!

Oh that's fab you'll have a baby friend @BellatrixK!

@whatwonder the newborn stage is deffo the hardest as you don't get a lot back, once they play more you can forgive the night wakes a bit more!

X's party looked epic @Minster2012!

Haha they're very mature up in Scotland @DKDK123!

Consultant tomorrow @kaylsd, really hoping there's still a slot bang on 39 weeks!

I'm literally dead on my feet today, no energy at all. Went nuts at lunch and through caution to the wind and had caffeinated coffee and heartburn isn't horrendous! Still very tired though! Have officially run out of steam. Just 3 more days at work and most of the jobs list done and then I shall not worry about doing anything other than sitting on my (ever growing) arse!

OP posts:
bez91 · 31/07/2022 14:59

That's promising news @Vil10 😬 fingers crossed for another bus due date baby!

@Minster2012 hope you managed to clear up the carnage from the party and had plenty of help too! Summer birthdays are the best for bouncy castles!

Eeeeek a date @kaylsd good idea on taking DH. Without letting on I think they do get more worried than us πŸ˜† after I had Z and had to be whisked off to theatre DH said it was the weirdest feeling ever just being left in birthing room alone with Z after all the action wondering where I was. Always super difficult planning for an event like a wedding after baby when you don't know what the state of play will be. I'm sure you'll have plenty of time to sort!

@larrythelizard you're nearly at the finish line, keep going! Hope it's a close date you get at your appointment tomorrow 🀞🏼any chance of a nap today?

Z is 12 weeks today, feel slightly emotional about it and I'm the least emotional person in the world. Maybe because he might be our last baby 😭 although DH bought a second camera which 'allegedly' will connect to our monitor so we can have 2 set up so he can start having naps in his own room. Might come in handy in future πŸ™„ why the f*ck do I feel broody - what is wrong with me, this really isn't me 🀣

larrythelizard · 31/07/2022 17:45

Managed 40 winks on the sofa whilst DS and DH made a traffic jam all round the lounge of every single vehicle DS owns.

You don't have to rule out a no 3 @bez91 - I think you'd be mad to try and get preggers now but 3 kids is a very normal amount! Or it could just be part of the wonderful hormone rollercoaster that is post partum life!

OP posts:
Vil10 · 01/08/2022 06:58

My official due date and still pregnant, and fed upπŸ˜’ feel like the next ones on the list are going to be before me at this rate, had 2 episodes of really strong cramps that went into my back as well yesterday at about tea time then about 9:30 ones at 9:30 were enough to make me stop eating my carrot sticks so I was convinced something was going to happen through the night, but nope, nothing!! Also getting bored of the "anything yet???" Texts, no obviously no baby yet or you'd know about it!!!
On the plus side I get my car back today after a week of it being in the garage so I'm glad I'll be bringing baby home in that, getting the car seat put in it later when OH is home!

Hope everyone is okay❀️

bez91 · 01/08/2022 07:15

After a sleepless night @larrythelizard I think it must have been hormones πŸ˜‚ glad you managed a nap. Day 1 of 3 of work to go!

Don't get disheartened @Vil10 it doesn't mean nothing is happening, it's possible you could well be dilating more. I had 2 days of 'slow labour' with DD and cramped a lot between random contractions. Annoying on the texts though, can you just ignore people πŸ™ˆ have you any plans today to keep you busy? Apart from willing a baby on?

Fun day here, Z injections then straight to hospital for DDs 24 ecg machine being put on. Which child will cry more 😬
