Just had my booking appointment, because I'm '13' weeks I should have a scan in the next week or two. When they've done that they'll have a better idea of my actual due date and can book me a 12 week scan for the right time. If it's too early to see anything on the scan they'll book me in for two weeks later.

Took three attempts to get blood from me πŸ˜‚

Dr is off sick so should have a different dr calling this afternoon about anti sickness and 5mg folic acid

DKDK123 · 26/07/2022 19:55

@Minster2012 if it makes you feel better, I stood on the scales to find out I've put 10lb on of the weight I'd lost after the first month PP πŸ™ˆ Too much sugar to keep me going through sleep deprivation and juggling 2 kids is not doing me any favours 😫

@dmb91 hope you got your sickness pills this afternoon.

Ladies, I think most of you have already tried it a while ago, but if you don't already have a Gusto account I have a referral link for your first box 100% free plus free delivery if anyone wants it (it does give me credit for anyone using it). I'm going to see if it gives me the kick start to cook properly again as right now I'm having whatevers easy to chuck in the oven and forget about, really need to get back into eating properly and exercising again.

@Franklydear thank you for an hilarious thread! Half way through it now. "Lay off the willy" has got to go in classics!! I can't believe a 40 year old with 2 kids has really written this, reads like a 16 year old!

Hi everyone else πŸ‘‹πŸΎ just had to acknowledge this thread before catching up!

Minster2012 · 26/07/2022 20:14

@DKDK123 I'm blaming the wine πŸ˜‚which is basically a necessity now

@dmb91 that's excellent news for getting a scan! And a really good sensible plan of action, did you get anything for the sickness? I'm also awful at drawing blood from

@becarefuloutthere has the regression passed (at all?!)

@Soph0105 I can't press anything with my gammy fingers, I'm typing this with my toes

@bez91 Z looked chuffed with himself! Is he more settled on the omeprazole? B still puking a lot (on our shoulders, classic baby move) then doing the horrible reflux cry which is like "there's a horrible taste in my mouth urgh" and it really pulls on your heart

I need a pick me up tonight so thought I'd start virgin river....cos @Franklydear said it's uplifting right?! 😳😝

becarefuloutthere · 26/07/2022 20:28

@Franklydear have finished it now and feel bad as clearly the OP has severe anxiety so I get her worry now. She's seen a therapist at least now!

@Minster2012 I think the regression is over but she's still not sleeping through the night. 1 or 2 wakes. Sometimes it's a split night so she's awake up to 2hrs, just making noises and grinning. Good job she's cute!!
How was your hol? Your two littlens ok?

Minster2012 · 26/07/2022 20:41

Up to 2 hours?! @becarefuloutthere I'll pass you the wine 🍷 we've had nights like that, fortunately (and I know we are VERY) fortunate they haven't been many, but when B woke she was up for a long time. Today was pretty hideous after a playgroup which seemed to send X spinning & made B not nap at all. He saw his mate & seemingly it made him into a demon...he took his seatbelt off in the car so I stopped & had stern words. He burst into tears as I used angry voice (as non negotiable of course) so B woke up & started wailing too πŸ˜‚that set the tone for the afternoon...had to use angry voice again as he didn't want to take dogs out but wanted to go off on his scooter & set off down the driveway (which other houses have access down too) towards the (main) road so angry voice came out again explaining why he can't go out of sight & again B started wailing not napping. A long day fraught with angry voice & tears which is never good "mumming" 😒

Minster2012 · 26/07/2022 20:42

Ps we've not been on hol yet, that's september just booked it!! Oh and it's Xander's birthday tomorrow! @becarefuloutthere

Franklydear · 26/07/2022 21:22

@becarefuloutthere anxiety fears can be so irrational so I do feel for her, but then again is the school holidays so it could be a bored year 10
@Minster2012 I am still watching it, mustn't be that bad, and I disagree, it is very good mumming to put some common sense into them early, otherwise by the time you try might be too late
Have you decided about the nursery party?

Nothing much here but pms going crazy here so I bet on a very short cycle, cd 21, I actually felt quite ill today, but I do have new kitchen floors, day 2 of working, they ripped the whole kitchen, lifted the floor, changed the joists and lay the new floor, for those experienced with builders, sounds about right?

becarefuloutthere · 26/07/2022 21:24

@Minster2012 yeah she's done 3hrs once, very frustrating!! Angry mum voice is a necessity tho, you need it in order to be a good mum too, as they need to be aware of dangers etc so no guilt pls.
Happy birthday to xander for tomorrow then! Fun day planned?

becarefuloutthere · 26/07/2022 21:28

@Franklydear not with the level of detail with the cycle and morning after pill chat. Poor woman is just highly highly anxious to the point of irrationality. My friends been like that before, so I've seen how messed up it can make someone who is seemingly level headed. Thing is, if she knows she gets like that, she should have took better precautions.
Good luck with the new kitchen! No experience with builders tho, sorry. We've lived in new builds the past two house moves.

Franklydear · 26/07/2022 21:33

@becarefuloutthere been there myself, at least she's getting help
We are quite pleased with the progress, we'll ask tomorrow for further update on the estimated dates, but we don't have any experience and they could be lazing around and I wouldn't know any better, but they seem very efficient, not working full days according to my neighbour, so I suspect they might be doing two projects at once, or maybe you should leave the floor alone for X amount of time when doing X, who knows?

dmb91 · 26/07/2022 21:45

@DKDK123 @Minster2012 I've been given Avomine, doesn't seem very well liked on Mumsnet but I'll give it a go! Did anyone else take anything for sickness?

Also, got a scan appointment through for 22nd august when according to lmp I will be just over 17 weeks! I think I'll be more like 9 weeks by then so I guess that's a good time to have a scan? Typically I'll have to change it anyway because there's no way DP can get time off work on a Monday!

bez91 · 27/07/2022 06:40

@Soph0105 urgggh, it's one of the most stressful things moving house.
Good luck! Do you have much to do to it?

@Minster2012 ouch that looks painful 😬 hopefully not so sore now! I think I also look more pregnant than I did the day after I gave birth. Everything seems to have gathered in one place. Managing to get the exercise in but the food part is harder πŸ™ˆ
Z is like a different baby on the omeprazole, much more settled after feeds and can't hear his stomach churning when he's feeding all the time. Still can a little and I know doseage is based on weight so probably need to get him weighed. Has B got anything for her reflux? Sounds a stressful day yesterday. Hoping today is better for you. Not 'bad mumming' though just one of those days. I've been shouty mum already this morning after DD came into our room at 5:30 for the 3rd time since 4:30 for absolutely no reason and Z stirring since 4

@becarefuloutthere have been wondering how you were getting on balls deep in the 4 months sleep regression. The split nights are a killer, hopefully you're coming out the other end of it. DD has a terrible 4 month sleep regression and was always awake 1-3/4am - so hoping to get off lighter this time round

@dmb91 I think both @larrythelizard and @Lexber from memory might have had anti sickness meds so may be able to help?

larrythelizard · 27/07/2022 07:30

Ergh the thought of moving house gives me the shivers @Soph0105! Still not over it from 4 years ago!!

That is an impressive spelk @Minster2012! Nails looking good though!

9 weeks sounds good for a scan @dmb91 will deffo be something to see by then. No anti sickness meds for me but have been on heartburn meds since about 16 weeks and they've been a life changer so I'm all for the drugs!!

@DKDK123 @bez91 @Minster2012 I think you always underestimate the impact of a newborn, making good food choices is nigh on impossible when you're running on minimal sleep, and doing exercise is also hard with limited exercise (and also getting over the physical impact of the birth is not to be underestimated). So please don't beat yourselves up, and be kind to yourselves with any plans to diet etc - you'll get to where you want to go but life isn't as simple as if once was!

Oh you're giving me the shudders remembering about split nights @becarefuloutthere! I found the 4 month one the very worst, the others were much more short lived!

I was horrible on Monday @Minster2012 with much Mum voice and gripping of his wrist when we were out as he wouldn't hold my hand nicely. Got DS again today so going to be nicer!

New kitchen sounds exciting @Franklydear!

Happy Birthday X @Minster2012!!

Saw my MW yesterday, she isn't at all concerned about my bloods and isn't sure why they redid them. That helps as I was freaking out a bit after googling them. Got to go back tomorrow for another go though as I'm still itchy. Bit annoying it's an hour's round trip but is what it is.

OP posts:
Minster2012 · 27/07/2022 07:56

Ha ha nothing is as simple as it was @larrythelizard πŸ˜‚yeah I also have to do grippy wrist but X is now good at holding the side of the pram (when not scooting off down the bloody road). I am going to look for some fitness thing today, it's good they aren't concerned about the bloods but annoying they are redoing them them then

@bez91 so pleased he's more settled, I haven't had B weighed since we got discharged from MWs so really ought to agsin, I'm thinking pretty sturdy 😜. She has gaviscon which doesn't seem to make much difference, it's slightly better than previously but not great. Has DD sleeping got any better from previously?

@dmb91 I had an anti sickness beginning with p, I can get it out once I've got up after feeding! 9 weeks would be a fab time for a scan, that's just after we had one

@Franklydear that seems pretty decent to me, he's gone in with a badge on, that should be enough

@becarefuloutthere no plans today actually! He's at nursery all day, Monday was beach day with my family, tomorrow beach with in laws, then party sat but we've just done cards, presents tonight. Maybe she just loves your company so much?! Mine don't 😝

Franklydear · 27/07/2022 09:28

@Minster2012 I am sure they will make a fuss of him, doesn't take much to do a nursery party, all the guests are there already

The builder seems pretty solid to me, he's one of those no nonsense guy, little communication as possible, just factual, he also didn't increase the budget from when he quoted before lockdown, and then couldn't do the work cos everything

InkyPaper · 27/07/2022 09:39

Hello everyone, I've been truly crap at replying to anything for ages but I have been reading along with you all!

@paintfairy hope you and the little miss are doing well! Loving all the baby photos on insta 😊

@dmb91 congratulations and welcome to the bus! Hope the meds the doctor has given you help with the sickness

@larrythelizard it's annoying they want you back in to recheck your bloods but good that they're keeping an eye on you

@Minster2012 I wouldn't be so hard on yourself, some days are just more trying than others and there's definitely something to be said for having a well-honed mum voice - keeps them safe and out of further mischief!

@bez91 so glad that Z is doing better on his new meds! That's great news

It's been crazy busy here. DH decided we needed to do all the major house reorganising now ready for the baby, so it's been chaotic πŸ˜‚ currently in the midst of redecorating one room so furniture can move in from what will be the nursery. Of course this is all change which means one of the cats is having her usual bout of stress incontinence to to cope πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ Had a letter through from the consultant following the call with her last week: unless things change health-wise with me or the baby, I'll be allowed to go up to 41 weeks before they induce, which is nice as I'd rather avoid that if at all possible! She for some reason seemed to think I was prescribed vitamin D when I told her I bought the supplement from the supermarket and got prescribed folic acid, which explains the weird text I got from the GP going "we don't prescribe maintenance doses of vitamin D because you can get them at any pharmacy/supermarket".

So yeah, it's been chaotic but I am still here and reading along, just being crap with replying to anything, sorry πŸ™ˆ

DKDK123 · 27/07/2022 10:38

@Minster2012 if the gaviscon isn't helping B much have they tried her with Carobel? Our GP said she prefers to prescribe carobel before gaviscon for reflux as she's found it seems to help better without being as harsh on their tummies as you can adjust the dose till you find what's perfect for each individual. It was a hellish few days of trial and error at first as I found 1.5scoops still had her spewing like the exorcist 2scoops had her screaming with constipation but 1.75 scoops seem to be the magic number for us. Don't get me wrong she's still a bit spewy but not screaming in pain from it or projectile vomiting anymore so I'll take that!
Happy birthday to X πŸ₯³

@larrythelizard I still hadn't lost all the baby weight from DS and that was nearly 5 years ago πŸ˜‚ so need to be a bit more on it this time. Hoping once he goes to school next month I can start to squeeze in a few workouts during the day while DD naps and have more time for meal prepping, it just feels endless at the minute having had both of them by myself since he finished nursery in June and I'm literally surviving on red bull and snacks to get through it πŸ™ˆ It's given me such a newfound respect for single parents at least by 6pm I have DH come home to give a hand (but by then a workout is the last thing I can muster the energy for!), single parents are absolutely amazing to survive it on their own 24/7 with no respite at all, 100% hats off to any of them who make it through the early years without turning into alcoholics!

Leaving DD overnight for the first time tomorrow with my parents, eek! We're taking DS to see the Paw Patrol Live show on Friday morning so wanting to make a bit of a fuss over him and give him some 1:1 time with the both of us so staying in a hotel with him the night before. We're not dropping her off till 8pm and picking her up again just after lunch the next day but I still feel a bit guilty about it even tho I know she'll be perfectly fine with my mum and probably won't even know I'm missing that much, it's just because she's still so young I feel bad, think DS was about 9months his first night away, she's not even 3months yet πŸ™ˆ But at the same time I know it will do DS the world of good to have a special night jsut for him given he's had to adjust to a new baby, leave nursery and get prepared for school all in such a short space of time it'd been a lot of big changes for him.

Minster2012 · 27/07/2022 11:06

@Franklydear precisely, if he didn't go to nursery today then he wouldn't have seen his mates in his birthday so he wanted to go 🀭bloody hell that's amazing of the builder, no one here would do that!

@DKDK123 they won't prescribe anything else as she's kinda not that bad?! So like she'll be sick about twice a day but not projectile like X was (he was known for HUGE projectile voms) she's just claggy sick after milk or randomly and hour later. And not all her milk, mostly only a bit, only sometimes a big amount (last night though) and she rarely seems uncomfortable from it other than straight after she has spewed it's that taste thing I think. So we are ok with it for the time being. Glad you've found that magic scoop number. Wow a night away for you both that's IMMENSE!! You are the first I think!! That's so good! I was tempted by the paw.patrol thing too, he'll love it!!

@InkyPaper ahhhh there's always that lovely hugely chaotic stage of pulling everything apart then putting it back together again, I do that regularly πŸ˜‚. What's the cat going to be like when the baby actually arrives,??

So me & B doing gardening today, gotta say she's not contributing much 😜
Also I'm crampy so guessing AF arriving soon, I've got coil booked in for next Monday if not on AF then, had to go for mirena @larrythelizard they weren't happy giving me copper

DKDK123 · 27/07/2022 11:15

@Minster2012 you can buy thr carobel without a prescription, it just says on the box to use under the guidance of medical professionals as they have to make sure you're not using it alongside anything else like gaviscon or reflux milk as it can become too thick and cause baby to choke. It's just a thickener that weighs the milk down a bit more in their stomachs so it doesn't come up as easily. I thought I'd need to fight for omeprozole for her given how bad her reflux was but this surprisingly seems to have worked.
Wish it was a romantic night away and not one with an over excited child waiting to see Paw patrol, but at least theres no night time feeds for one night πŸ˜‚

DKDK123 · 27/07/2022 13:04

I forgot how much I hate AF 😫 I thought it had ended yesterday but of course discovered while at the park 20min walk from home that she hadn't finished and she wasn't making her presence known subtlety πŸ™ˆ My only saving grace was I had black trousers on but I darent even sit on a bench for fear of leaving a stain and had to walk home praying it wouldnt run down my leg dripping on the ground making it look like id left a murder scene. Lessons to be learned, dont ever trust the first few AFs once they return until theyre back into a predictable cycle! 7day AF and counting ........ πŸ™„

larrythelizard · 27/07/2022 14:24

Sounds a good consultant appt @InkyPaper! If you get to 41w you'll be begging them to induce to evict the baby...! We've had to had a complete switcheroo upstairs too, sort of wish we'd started earlier but I was in denial about this baby for a long time!

Hmm interesting on the copper coil @Minster2012!

I still might buy DH and DS tickets to paw patrol @DKDK123 - it's coming sort of near us end of August. I'm sure E will be more than happy with your mum! I take your never ending period and I raise you thrush and return of the piles. So over pregnant now!

OP posts:
Soph0105 · 27/07/2022 14:54

Happy birthday to X @Minster2012 πŸ₯³

Thanks @bez91 yeah it's a proper doer upper, like roof to floors! So moving in with in laws for a year or so to do it 😬😬😬😬😬😬 don't know what I'm more stressed about πŸ˜‚ however @larrythelizard i will die in this house so this is definitely THE LAST MOVE... Not being melodramatic, we're buying the family farm so unless I leave H we're there forever πŸ˜‚

Urgh. Next door neighbours are having the house painted. Their painters have the music so loud. And I wouldn't mind but it's really shit πŸ˜‚ we've had a lot of Spandau Ballet which I can definitely only take in small doses. I'm annoyed and I've been out all morning so haven't even had the full repertoire...

Minster2012 · 27/07/2022 15:14

Thank you @Soph0105 what have you got against spandau ballet?! You need to make sure your builders have better taste then! I think I'll die in this house too, probs soon lost in the garden πŸ˜‚

@DKDK123 thanks for that I shall have a look, 7 day AF?! What?? It's really weird not knowing EXACTLY what cycle day I am cos not TTC. Bizarre.

Just need a rant. I've whinged about my parents before. I love them I really do but mannnnnn sometimes they annoy me. They are "popping over shortly" to book our holiday flights, they've been monitoring the flights & after extensive working out of how to split the luggage between us Ryanair have now lowered the price of the flight so we need to book. NOW. firstly I had a 15 min call with them where I was just saying "ok I trust that you've done the research & yep im happy to book it" and then not listening to the 10 min spiel that went with it, now they are coming over to sort it out. I said I could give them my card details over the phone but no. So my xander free day is being interrupted & as it's gone 3 now that will basically be it til he gets back. They are ppl who repeat things a lot, like a lecture, love to ensure a job is done thoroughly as possible & why use 3 words when 30 will perhaps say the same? I'm someone who is straight to the point & REALLY enjoy my (older) child free days. Oh well.

Juno231 · 27/07/2022 15:55

@Minster2012 your parents sound like my colleague! Why say something in 20 sec when you could say it in 5 min without any extra added value! Remind me where you're planning on going again?

@InkyPaper eek for reshuffles and thinking as far ahead as induction dates!!

@DKDK123 you poor thing, when AF surprises you like that it's the worst. 7 days as well, wtaf.

@Soph0105 a year with the in laws hey? you must be absolutely bonkers πŸ˜‚

Ok so I'm cheesed off with myself now. Baby has been quiet since Monday - like I could still feel her move every now and then but way less than usual and not as strongly. So I finally dragged myself for monitoring today. Baby seems fine but in the 45 min of CTG testing she was apparently having a party in there whilst I didn't really feel a thing - so she must be in an awkward position? But now this means they got a doctor out to talk to me and he thinks I should be induced next Thurs (39 weeks) - I pushed back to ask if he'd want that even if movements went back to normal and thankfully no, only if they remain the same. The kicker though is that because I've been in twice they said it counts as having been in for "recurring monitoring" and as such I won't be allowed a pool birth! I'm definitely arguing that with my MW at the next appointment though 😑.
