OK, she didnt say that exactlly, but she did write on my scan notes -

Difficult scan due to foetal position and maternal tissue characteristics!

you're not bl**dy fat (unless you've piled on the weight since I saw you before christmas) ! And OMG - you've just had your first scan????? Time flies!

We must meet up again soon!

bluebell82 · 14/01/2008 17:00

What a nice MW you have!! My best friend said my wrists had got fat, we didn't speak for 3 weeks until she apologised! Things people say!

TheIceQueen · 14/01/2008 17:01

I take it this was up at K***???

Divvy · 14/01/2008 17:01

Hello, yes we must!

12+1 weeks!

She did say to me she was having trouble getting the nuchal result, but it was because the baby was on it back touching the sac, thingy!

She got me to jiggle about and cough...didnt know that can move fat around...must try that later!

Not pregnancy related but my BF's always telling me when I look fat and she's just bought me Victoria Beckham's book That Extra Half Inch to teach me how to look better in clothes! [grins]

I thought that was what best friend's were for..

TheIceQueen · 14/01/2008 17:02

12 weeks already - sh*t - god have we even met up since you got your BFP??? I don't think we have!!!

ooo - jiggling and coughing - must try that and see if I can re-distribute some of my rolls around LOL.

I had smiliar on myscan notes, something like "Difficult due to maternal habitus" or something like it

I think it's Latin for "Fat Cow"

Was everything else ok with the scan (from what they could see )

bluebell82 · 14/01/2008 17:04

BF are known for their brutal honesty but really I am fat all over- why the wrists! Especially when she is all un-pregnant and super-thin in her skinny jeans - sorry for the hijack x

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 14/01/2008 17:07

Well I do sometimes get humpy with mine.. especially when I thought I looked alright and then my confidence plummets! And I really don't tell her every time I think she looks less t han her best.. sometimes people don't need to told do they!

lulumama · 14/01/2008 17:07

erm, extra padding can make it harder to get an accurate scan... and to hear the foetal heart... so it was right for her to note that, so there is no comeback for inadequate results or anything like that

however, does not make you feel any better at all!

i imagine it was really just due to the position of the baby !

TheIceQueen · 14/01/2008 17:08

but lulu - I know Divvy in RL - and she's not at all fat - infact I'd say she's slimmer than I was before I fell pg with DS2....and they never had any issues with my scans!

lulumama · 14/01/2008 17:09

well, i have no explanation at all except she was being insensitive !

TheIceQueen · 14/01/2008 17:10
  • that wouldn't surprise me at that hospital LOL.

Anyhow - gotta go - DS's have just informed me that Goldenballs is on.......which means it's time for me to go and cook the dinner

VeniVidiVickiQV · 14/01/2008 17:11

Ah, yes, I had similar from a GP when pg with DD.

I'd expressed concern about the swelling in my legs and ankles and hands. He had a bit of a squeeze of my legs and said "well, you are quite a big girl though, arent you?"

PortAndLemonaid · 14/01/2008 17:11

I rather like "maternal tissue characteristics", though. I may start using it:

"Oh well, of course I have tissue characteristics..."

VeniVidiVickiQV · 14/01/2008 17:12

Maybe she meant that you have really good, thick stomach muscles? [hopeful]

Divvy · 14/01/2008 17:32

Icequeen, you have me mixed up with another friend of yours!! I am a size 20!!

BUT I am 2 stone lighter than when I was preg with Lily (now 10 months)

I was a size 24 when we first met that time in Morrisons!

ps...I have a MAJOR rant about Morrisons!!!

They gave us a parking ticket, for parking in the todder bay, as someone interfiering old git told the Euro man, that we didnt have a child with us!

Since when do they work on other peoples say so? Baby seat was left in the car too!

OP posts:
TheIceQueen · 14/01/2008 17:35

no - you're never a size 20!!!! I can't believe that for a minute - last time we met up you said you'd lost weight - and you look fab! (and of course you're a size 20 now you're pg ).

And when we first met in morrisons you were 20 odd weeks pg LOL.

FFS@ Morrisons though - cheeky sods!

Divvy · 14/01/2008 17:37

Nope same weight, well I did put on 3lbs over christmas, but I dont think it shows that much

I am rejoining Slimming World tonight now!!

OP posts:
TheIceQueen · 14/01/2008 17:38

I honestly can't believe you're normally (ie not pg) size 20 - there's no way you look that big??

Thought you were banned from Slimming World (and anyhow - even if you're not you should NOT be dieting while pg!)

Divvy · 14/01/2008 17:41

Pic on profile of scan, very clear considering all that fat is in the way!

OP posts:
TheIceQueen · 14/01/2008 17:42

ok - i've just been looking at your pictures on facebook........look at picture 31 (the black and white one) - on there I would say you look like a 20/22/24........but on your profile picture (and in RL) you don't look like a size 20 - really you don't!!

makes mental note to go through Divvy's wardrobe next time she pops round for coffee to see if this size 20 malarky is for real**

TheIceQueen · 14/01/2008 17:43

oooooooo it's lovely.........another baby - can't believe you're pg again (especially so soon after you told me that you were planning on TTC again LOL).

sweetkitty · 14/01/2008 17:44

Please don't worry about it I think MWs are a bit mad about weight issues.

When I had my booking in appointment with DD2 I was about 27 weeks (long story moved house) and the MW wrote on my notes BMI of 26 and underlined it. Of course my BMI was higher I had a big bump, BMI is going to be out if you are 27 weeks pregnant.
