Oh @Prema112 he's gorgeous 😍 ❤️

Rolledthedice · 14/06/2022 21:54

Thank you @Prema112! I’m still having cramps and they come and go, we went to a National Trust today which was lovely, but what I really need is sleep so hope to get some in between the cramping tonight!

Your little one is absolutely gorgeous! 😍 Such a cutie!

Bango2019 · 14/06/2022 22:36

Congratulations to everyone who already had their sweet babies🥰

My baby girl was born on Sat at 40w4d, natural, spontaneous and no pain relief (except gas and air that I used probably for the last 10 min of my labour). Oh my...it was everything that I hoped wouldn't happen to me😅 All in all, took me approx. 24 hours altogether and a 2nd degree tear to have my rainbow baby. My early labour was quite long and active for about 30 to 40 min.
The shocking part was when I jumped from 3cm to fully dilated in just 30 min. Glad I didn't go home when they said I was only 3cm dilated and decided to stay in antenatal ward instead, otherwise I would have her in the car on the way home😅
Anyhow, good luck and quick labour to those who are still waiting🌸

laurenGame · 15/06/2022 02:40

@Prema112 ahh he's soo adorable 🥰
Massive congratulations 🥳 reading peoples updates on babies makes me so happy , wonder how peeachee is going !

@Bango2019 congratulations 🎉 wow you're brave haha, sounds like a lovely birth!

Good luck today @Slanketeer how are you feeling?

Still just under two weeks to go for me, seems forever atm 😅

Vimto1991 · 15/06/2022 08:16

As a FTM I feel so utterly clueless but let me know if this sounds normal please 🙈
Peyton seems to poop twice a day, the morning poop she just had literally kept coming for about ten minutes. We used soooo many wipes and three nappies as whenever we thought she was finished she kept going. (Then surprised us with a nappy free wee on top of all of that).

my worry is maybe she’s lactose intolerant and it’s cause by the formula? Or is this just a normal sounding baby poop? The consistency and colour were normal, it was just a loooooot of poop and we’ve not encountered that much before. 💩

Vimto1991 · 15/06/2022 08:17

@Bango2019 congrats! Sounds incredibly speedy, baby definitely wanted out haha!!

RooSut25 · 15/06/2022 08:36

@Vimto1991 also a FTM so I don't have any expertise to back this up, but Lyra can do some epic poops. In the middle of one night it took me four nappies to change her, and she managed to completely cover her changing mat with poop, and even managed to get some on the wall!! 😂she also managed to projectile poop all over my husband's hand whilst he was changing her. But she seems happy and enjoys feeding, so I think it's totally normal!

I have to admit I tend to give her a good 15-20mins of cuddles after a feed now just to let her get as much out as possible before I change her!

Starbeach · 15/06/2022 09:00

Congrats on all the new babies hope you are all doing well its lovely to see all the photos 😊

My ELCS is tomorrow so pre op today! But I'm soooooo annoyed I've gone for the last 9 months none/nada/zilch stretch marks and what happens today the last day of pregnancy full of them 😭😭😭

I know it sounds stupid and it's the hormones but I'm sat here balling my eyes out over it xx

Starbeach · 15/06/2022 09:02

Oh and what really needs to go in your hospital bag I went through mine again last night (packed as per the nhs) and I was like do I realllllly need all of this? I need a removal van 😂😂😂

Octoblockisadick · 15/06/2022 10:02

@Starbeach with my daughter I didn't get any stretch marks until my belly shrank after she was born, I was fuming. They were barely noticeable after a while though so don't worry too much.
Re hospital bag, I used hardly anything from mine tbh.
Maternity pads only needed a couple as post elcs they will sit you on a pad so you only need yours after about 12h when you get up moving. I've also not bled much post section, blood for maybe 3-4 days, then the yellowish stuff up to day 8 maybe and nothing since.
Outfit for you for the next day, you'll be in a hospital gown til you move. If your section is the morning maybe pj's too as you'll be up before bed. I only used 1 nursing bra and 1 pair of knickers, didn't wear my socks.
Toothbrush, toothpaste, body wash. I didn't bother washing my hair. I took a towel but the midwife just gave me 3 of theirs because they said mine wouldn't dry properly in time and theirs were fine tbh.
I wore flip flops to go in so I didn't need to take extra shoes.
Oh and snacks. Mostly cereal bars tbh.
Baby wise, we took 1 pack of nappies, 1 pack of water wipes, blanket. We took a few outfits and muslins but only used 2 outfits (first one and a going home one) and 1 muslin.
You could always pack a second bag to leave at home with extra stuff for your partner to bring if you stay in.

Vimto1991 · 15/06/2022 11:14

@RooSut25 that sounds like it took awhile to clean up 😂😂 I asked my midwife and she said it’s completely normal. Wiping a bum can stimulate poo, too, so that’s why it felt like every wipe was more poo. 😂 can be expected the more breast milk I can give so maybe I am making a bit more today! She even said expect a poo every feed at some point, babies don’t have a poop pattern!
so that’s made me feel better. Honestly thought she had diarrhoea or intolerance.

MrsTwentyNine · 15/06/2022 14:18

@Prema112 sorry delayed reply! Glad things are going well now! I'm still formula feeding plus breast but mainly formula as he is gaining weight nicely and I'm terrified to change things. Hoping eventually I can increase my breastfeeding time but not right now. I also had a large blood loss after delivery and no one told me that formula top ups might be advisable if this happened. I remember middle of the night on day 2 or 3 when the poor baby would scream his lungs out which now I realise was hunger. They REALLY should encourage formula ups when milk hasn't come in for certain scenarios! I can never hear him cry like that again so don't know if I will manage EBF but I don't care...

Letsbekindplease · 15/06/2022 15:47

Baby girl born here too. Very quick labour. Very positive experience. Managed to get to the hospital fully dilated and straight to a room where baby was born with 4 pushes.
Couldn’t believe it. Contractions were very painful at home but because they happened so quickly, I didn’t have much time to get to the hospital. Baby is healthy and I am totally in love with her. My big pregnancy tummy seems so sad and soft now. What a crazy amazing experience birth is. Wishing everyone else still waiting all the best. I was terrified to go into labour but it’s amazing how your body copes and how it takes control because it knows what to do.

destiEos · 15/06/2022 16:50

Seconding @Vimto1991 - breast and formula top up, life is hard enough! Also as my milk didn't come in for a good 4 or 5 days after c-section, he was mostly formula to start and lost less than 5% body weight.

Might try expressing after tongue tie snip tomorrow. Don't remember if I asked, but is everyone Medela for pump?

@Prema112 He is super-cute and when I showed the pic to DH he thought it was ours 😊

@Bango2019 congratulations! Sounds stressful but she's here now! 💕

@Vimto1991 we've had 3 of those poos now. He only goes every 2 or 3 days, then he does enough for all the missed days.. We need two of us to clean up and a good 20 minutes 😂 Also both I and DH have been poo'd on @RooSut25 - your husband is not alone!

@Starbeach I can only tell you what we forgot: bodysuits (we had packed 2 packed of short sleeved vests) and ready formula bottles (we bought them but forgot to pack them) - the hospital supplied both. And they supplied most of the other stuff we had packed which we didn't need to open the bag for: maternity pads, cotton wool balls, nappies etc..

@Letsbekindplease whoo! 💕🥳 Congratulations to you too! I know what you mean about sad, soft pregnancy tummy, but now happy soft baby instead!

@Slanketeer, @Rolledthedice and @RoseValleyRambles - hope all went/is going well for you 🤞🏻💕

@Starbeach we took four baby grow/vest combos for the baby and ran out in two days! My husband had to bring more.

Our hospital didn’t supply nappies, but did provide cotton wool, maternity pads and towels. Though the towels were very small and I was glad to have my own. I did also like changing into my own nightie after my shower, but the hospital gown would have been fine too. I took flip flops for the shower, but I couldn’t wear them with the DVT stockings, so was glad to have slippers. And yes to snacks, I was ravenous! A water bottle with a sports cap would have helped for drinking water lying down - I forgot to take one.

Prema112 · 15/06/2022 18:25

@destiEos he looks so much like ours!! Lil cutie

Vimto1991 · 15/06/2022 18:43

@Letsbekindplease congratulations!! What an amazing experience you had! Glad it all went well, hope you are at home enjoying snuggles right now. 🥰

okay my baby decided today is the day she starts pooping. I think this new gain weight diet and my milk slowly coming in is catching up. We are getting poops with every feed, I was driving myself mad with worry but googled other mumsnet threads and people seem to say BF babies at this stage will poop after every feed (several yellow poops a day). I was not prepared. I hope we have enough nappies. 😂 we went from two yesterday to 5 already today (6 feeds so far but one was a formula feed), I feel like most our days is taking up by nappy changes. Also had the MIL around and baby didn’t settle for three hours. She settled once MIL had gone, I wonder if the stimulation of someone new kept her awake? Plus MIL had been holding her awhile so she might have been too afraid to sleep.

EarlGreywithLemon · 15/06/2022 19:45

@Vimto1991 we’re getting lots of poos- 6 so far today and counting. It was the same with our daughter, and as far as I’m aware it’s a good sign, that the baby is getting plenty of milk.
Also, from memory, overstimulation is very much a thing!

Octoblockisadick · 15/06/2022 20:38

@Letsbekindplease congratulations! Amazing that it was so quick once you got to hospital! Was it a long build up at home or not too bad?

Octoblockisadick · 15/06/2022 20:43

Didn't mean to click post!
@destiEos he's so adorable!
@Vimto1991 lots of poos here too, we are mostly on breast milk too. Only having between 2-5oz formula per 24h depending on when he feeds and how much he needs. The top ups seem to be down to about 0.5oz after most feeds now which I presume is a good sign I've got a decent supply.

Daughter still obsessed as you can see haha

Congratulations @Letsbekindplease and @destiEos ! So many lovely baby pics!!

Had my pre-CS checks at the hospital today and on the morning list for tomorrow. It feels so strange knowing that tonight is the last night I'll be pregnant. I've been ridiculously emotional all day.

MrsTwentyNine · 16/06/2022 01:48

Congratulations @Octoblockisadick

Those combo feeding and trying to EBF, can I just check the best way to do this... when baby has had the breast, pulls off and then wants more, do you keep offering the breast? When do you decide to top up with formula? I offer formula as soon as he pulls on the second or third go at the boob! Maybe this is wrong?

MrsTwentyNine · 16/06/2022 01:50

@destiEos I use medela electric to pump!

Octoblockisadick · 16/06/2022 04:39

@MrsTwentyNine I tend to keep offering breast until he seems not interested in it and pulling off quickly, or if I stop hearing/ seeing swallowing as I assume he's taken all the milk. Or sometimes if he's on off for a while and I've just had enough tbh.
@destiEos I've got an ardo electric, I like it because it's a closed system so no milk gets into the pump mechanism so it's easy to clean. It has an app too so you can control it from your phone, and you can save favourite settings.
