Anyone due February? I know it’s super early but I’ve had my BFP at what I think is 8DPO so it looks like I’ll be due the first few days of February!

@KC2022 yup, first baby and first pregnancy!

I feel like I'm doing too much at the moment.. at home im a school teacher but I need to convert my qualification over now I'm in Ireland and it's just so much faff I haven't got round to doing it yet. So I've taken a wee job elsewhere... it's great but I'm on my feet from 9-6 with no opportunity to sit down except 15 minutes in the morning and a 30 minute lunch break. When it gets to about 5pm I could cry, and when I get home I'm practically bed bound (as i am roght now!). Has anyone else got a physically demanding job and struggling? I have dropped from 5 days to 4 but it's just the length of the days now, I'm terrified I'm gonna do damage over a job I just took to fill the time 😩 but now I don't wanna leave because i enjoy it and it keeps me sane!

My first pregnancy I was in a physical job, was so hard. I was grateful for a good team though. I told everyone very early I was pregnant there because it was so physically demanding, it was a good decision as I was well looked after, albeit still exhausted at the end of the day!

My last day in work before baby was awful though, I ended up delivering CPR to someone 😳 gave birth early a few days later after that, wouldn't recommend πŸ˜…

@drf I would tell someone in work, they should do a risk assessment to ensure they aren't putting you in any danger. Maybe discreetly have a word with your boss, but make it clear its not public knowledge.
I work as a radiographer so I had to tell my boss ASAP, x-rays and patient-lifting combined with preggo is a big old no-no, plus with a previous loss my boss wanted to be sure I didn't expose myself to any risks at all, so I'm doing office work just now, but if I want I can go back to patient-facing role at any point, obviously with limitations on what I can do (no covid-patients, no lifting, no potential xray exposures etc).
Your work should have a risk-assesment done and have ways of helping you carry out your job.

Peonies94 · 22/06/2022 12:37

@Drf yes I have a really physical job, so had to tell work before I was even 6 weeks! Two of the managers know; and one of my colleagues on my team as we work closely together and we’re in a situation together where she needed to know! It’s really hard! I do really struggle and at the end of the day I can’t wait to get home and put my feet up! I feel I only have energy to work and nothing else! I start at 7 and finish at 4.30, but I do get two breaks and they’re well needed! Look after yourself though and I definitely recommend telling people, they’re been so accommodating with me!

Hi all please can I join?
Got BFP today, due date currently 27th Feb.

If there is a Facebook group for this group I’d love to join if I can PM anyone my details? I’ve found the mumsnet groups on Facebook created from this forum so helpful for my older children.

sunflower25049 · 22/06/2022 13:33

Hi all,

Looking for some reassurance... I'm 6+3 today and have tested positive for COVID, I was due to have an early scan on Sunday but it will now need to be rearranged (unless I miraculously test negative Friday which I think is unlikely). Has anyone else had COVID in early pregnancy and are there any risks? I can't find an awful lot about it online.

Thanks in advance xx

Blimey I bet that was stressful!

Also how did your pelvic floor hold up? I remember trying to complete the mandatory CPR training at work while heavily pregnant and it became apparently pretty quickly that, while I could probably do CPR in an emergency, it was neither easy nor comfortable!

Ellswells3 · 22/06/2022 14:02

I am 4+3 now and think I am starting to get some symptoms. My tummy feels bleurghhh, sicky, nauseous, gassy and heart burn. I said to my DH yesterday that I wanted some symptoms for reassurance but I hope this isn’t the one that stays πŸ˜‚

LiveLaughL0ve · 22/06/2022 14:15

πŸ˜‚ @Ellswells3 it’s a lose/lose isn’t it? No symptoms=worry; symptoms =misery. πŸ˜‚

I had my booking in appointment today. It took around 1.5 hours. Lots of questions about my, my partners and our families’ medical history etc. Urine test, carbon dioxide breath test, blood test. The midwife wasn’t able to get blood (I’m a tricky customer - veins refuse to cooperate!) so I have to got to the hospital for the blood test later this week hopefully. I go back in c. 3 weeks for my next appointment. The midwife was lovely. EDD is 31 Jan rather than 1 Feb apparently but I’ll wait to the 12 week scan to know for sure.
Good luck to those who have scans and appointments coming up.

Peonies94 · 22/06/2022 14:20

@sunflower25049 i currently have covid! I’ve been really poorly, but finally starting to feel better now! My scan was suppose to be Thursday and I’ve had to rearrange mine for next week too! 7 weeks when I tested positive! I contacted my midwife and she said to just keep an eye on myself! Take care, hope you feel better soon!

Hi All,

Looking for advice, I am 5 weeks 3 days pregnant and yesterday I noticed brown spotting which continued all day and is still happening today. It’s small amounts in underwear and every time I wipe from the toilet (sorry it’s TMI). It’s making me so nervous to move as I don’t want it to get worse but also obsessing and keep checking.

I went for a private scan yesterday (too early really) and there was a sac and small yolk, but no visible baby. Not really had any symptoms yet.

I have an NHS scan on Monday (today Wednesday) when I am 6 weeks but I’m just feeling so down and worried. I’ve had 2 previous miscarriages and no children. Really felt so positive and happy until this started.

Has anyone else had this? How did it turn out?

Drf · 22/06/2022 14:24

@Peonies94 I've told everyone at work, I had to so they knew there were certain things I just couldn't do! It has helped in some ways but I do wonder how I'll manage as I get bigger. I'm not going to qualify for any maternity payment anyway because I moved to Ireland so recently, so I'll probably stay here until the 6 month mark and then leave and enjoy Christmas and stuff before the baby arrives!

You're so right tho. It's the feeling of work being literally the only thing you can do in a day, I hate living to work😩

Ellswells3 · 22/06/2022 14:37

Fingers crossed it will all be ok @Deb11009 , from what I know 5wks is still very early on for the scan to see anything. In terms of walking / moving, you won’t make it any worse as this doesn’t cause miscarriage however I completely understand your anxiety and felt the same yesterday. I went on a 30 min walk yesterday and when I came back I had a small amount of brown spotting. It seems to come and go. All you can do is just try and keep positive at this stage, it is completely out of your control and some bleeding / spotting can be completely normal in early pregnancy - trust me I have scoured the deep corners of Google/mumsnet! Hope your scan goes ok xx

@LiveLaughL0ve I know, I text my DH to say I felt pants and he replied along the lines of β€˜oh that’s good, you wanted symptoms’ … men! Lol

Deb11009 · 22/06/2022 15:00

Thank you @Ellswells3 for responding. Can I ask how far along are you? Are you having symptoms?
Yes you’re right, even if I sit still it won’t make any difference. It’s just so hard feeling like I’m doing nothing to prevent.
I am trying to keep some positivity and hope, just want it to be Monday already and the spotting to stop :( xx

Ellswells3 · 22/06/2022 15:16

I am 4+3 today according to my app so a week behind you! I haven’t had any symptoms really until today, I’ve felt nauseous and a bit bleurgh / gassy, but to be honest that has improved this afternoon. My boobs feel heavier today but don’t look any different and they’re not sore. Have you had any symptoms yet?

I completely understand, I’ve been β€˜knicker watching’ the last few days. It could be implantation bleeding; or implantation bleeding finally coming away. Try not to worry too much. There are lots of positive stories on other mumsnet threads when I searched spotting in early pregnancy. Have you got pain / cramping? xx

Peonies94 · 22/06/2022 16:18

@Drf thats my life! The weekends come and I’m just catching up on rest and not wanting to do anything! I’m hoping the second trimester will be less tiring! That sounds like a good plan because you don’t qualify for any maternity anyways! Will be nice for you to finish and have a few months to rest and get things ready! I can ask to be put onto light duties if needed, which I probably will in the third trimester or at least for the last 4-6 weeks in work! Can’t see me being able to do my normal job at that point!

OP posts:
Deb11009 · 22/06/2022 16:37

@Ellswells3 I haven’t had any major symptoms really. My boobs felt a little different but no sickness or anything. Has your spotting stopped or is it still happening?
I am really hoping it is just normal and that everything will be ok. I’ve not had any pain, I get slight twinge feelings here and there which I know can be normal, nothing like full on cramps. It’s so hard in the early stages, really hoping this will all be ok

Ellswells3 · 22/06/2022 16:42

@Deb11009 It seems to have stopped so far today, it started Saturday before I had my BFP and the last occasion was this morning a tiny tiny amount.

Sounds positive that you aren’t having painful cramps with the spotting. Hopefully the time doesn’t drag too slowly until your scan!

roarfeckingroarr · 22/06/2022 16:52

@Ellswells3 I don't think that's a problem. I found a couple of positive tests in my draw and they're now negative.

I couldn't have waited for NHS but I feel super calm now. My 20 month old is so full on delightful plus I work FT in four days, so I don't have much time to think about this pregnancy. So different to my first one, eyrie I found out one week before lockdown and it felt like I was pregnant for 43 years!

roarfeckingroarr · 22/06/2022 16:54

@CNizzle that's not long now! I was exactly 8w and got a clear picture ❀️

roarfeckingroarr · 22/06/2022 16:59

I'm not looking forward to telling work. I do a pretty "big" job in the org I work for and only returned from maternity in September... after going off a mere 10.5 months after joining πŸ˜‚πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ. I'm due 30 Jan so will go on mat leave half way through Jan 2023, so then I'll have been pack for 15 months,

I hate to say it but what do they expect, I'm in my mid 30s.

Does anyone know when you have to tell your employer by? Im a slim short arse so little chance of hiding too long, already feeling noticeably bloated.

Cherrymarket · 22/06/2022 17:04

Sorry to those who have covid! I hope it isn’t too bad??

@Deb11009 brown spotting is the normal for so many people. The awful thing is this is all a waiting game, I had red blood in my last pregnancy and wished time would speed up!!

I am struggling to hide it at work. My morning sickness is full blown tummy upset (sorry TMI) so I think I will have to have some time off in case it is a bug(?) rather than pregnancy related. It’s hard to keep hydrated!

Cherrymarket · 22/06/2022 17:10

@roarfeckingroarr i think legally it’s 15 weeks before your due date they have to know!

Also feeling bloated!!

RBSK1 · 22/06/2022 18:32

Finally booked my early scan for Saturday. I'll be 7+2. I've tried not to worry too much about this pregnancy as I was a serial "googler " first time around, but I constantly feel like it's all been one cruel mistake and I'm gonna get there on Saturday and be heartbroken.
Anyone else feel like this or am I just an over thinker?!

WonderWoop · 22/06/2022 18:55

@Deb11009 I don't want to offer false hope as every situation is so individual of course.

However in my last pregnancy I had a lot of early bleeding, including one really significant bleed and somehow DD was fine!

I'm completely paranoid about bleeding again and keep checking! However I think reality is some bleeding is not uncommon and I need to remind myself it was fine last time.

Do feel for everyone though, it's such a nervewracking time. I'm 5w tomorrow and 7w from now feels like a lifetime away!
