TTC24 · 19/05/2022 09:32

Anyone else due January 2023?! Found out yesterday I'm pregnant with baby #2. If my dates are right, I'm 3+6, due 27th January! My daughters a Jan baby, but was due feb (she was 3 weeks early). May just must be a very fertile month for us! We fell pregnant last May too, but never met them😢.

Hi all,

Sorry for not posting in a while.

I am due end of Jan, first baby and we found out it’s a boy so we are still trying to think of names. Difficult as we can never agree.

I haven’t even thought about packing a hospital bag yet, I’m dreading it actually as I am known for never travelling light so will probably take too much as usual! At how many weeks do people pack normally? Also haven’t had a diabetes test as I think I am classed a low risk but I am forever thirsty so may mention this at my next appointment.

How is everyone feeling so far?

@CJones11
Whey, I'm Welsh too! I love Anwen. I had Seren and Eleri on my list for our daughter but my partner turned them down almost instantly. I was quite bummed out. Eleri was top of my list.

I'm the same when it comes to organising. I'm waiting for my father to bring the bedframe he got for my son so I can get the cotbed back for the baby...but he keeps blowing me off. I feel I can't organise the kids rooms without it. Can't get a baby area together until I get the bedroom sorted. It's like a domino line I can't knock over until the first one is ready. Starting to panic me a bit now

PoppyHenry · 03/11/2022 13:58

I can’t believe how fast time is going only seems like yesterday the test said pregnant x
im all sorted now but we’ve got the minimum amount of things we’ve needed as I’ve been so anxious as we lost our son last year so this baby is our rainbow baby and we feel extremely lucky to be blessed with another boy and baby number three l, they’ll be a ten year gap between baby and our daughter
we have a few names but going to see he looks x
hows everyones symptoms? My baby is currently breach and my ribs are sore x
theyve said I can have a c section at 37 weeks due to history so seems even closer x

Laurzz · 03/11/2022 14:11

We currently have two boy's names but yet to decide on one. We originally agreed on Emmie for a girl but the more my partner says it the more he has taken a disliking. We now back to square one for girl names 🙄.

@TokenGinger I think Lucille or Cora goes well with Kemi and Adekemi. Love how you are a Yoruba name for baby girl too.

@CJones11 Paisley Joy has a nice ring to it.

I have written a hospital bag list and bought the actual bag but nothing to put in it yet. I'll be 31 weeks tomorrow but wanting to have the bag packed and ready to go for 37 weeks.

icecreamgirl94 · 03/11/2022 19:14

I love Summer for a girl but don’t think that’s going to work for a January baby! We’re quite keen on Elodie Belle and also quite like Louisa but our DS is Leo so not sure if they’re too similar. Considering Zoe as it’s short and simple like Leo. Or maybe Ava.
If it’s a boy we like Alfie but don’t think it goes with Leo, or Lewis but it’s too similar, so we’ll probably go with Dylan unless we come up with anything else.
Any thoughts welcome! 😊

@CJones11 I am going to be very biased but I love Willow (we picked that for DD). If this one was to be a girl then we were going to go with Elowyn.
I love Anwen on your list aswell, did consider Arwen for a girl also.
Delilah I love but everytime we mentioned it we sang the "hey there Delilah" song so thought we couldn't go with it 🤣

I feel like Delilah is also shooting up in popularity at the moment and I'd love for my children not to have another in their class with the same name. DP and I have extremely common names so always had many in our classes growing up!

I feel the exact same. I'm tempted to take maternity earlier than anticipated just so I have time to get things ready🙈

I'm really sorry you lost your son, an unimaginable pain💔

Oh wow, 37 weeks. Around what date would that be?
I also think a 10 year gap is wonderful, is your daughter excited? X

Paisley Joy is DPs favourite, I'm not quite sold yet.. but I did let him name our son because I'm too indecisive.

Would you mind sharing your hospital bag list? I am hoping for a home birth but will pack one just in case. Its only been 4.5 years since my son but I've forgotten everything!

PopsicleHustler · 04/11/2022 05:16

@CJones11
I will be taking two bags, one roller bag and another canvas style bag. I was looking at another holdall or roller bag but I don't think there is a need to buy another.

My hospital bag
X6 black maternity knickers (ideal for heavy bleeding)
2 packs of jumbo maternity pads
3 pairs of leggings
2 loose joggers
An old nighty or vest to give birth in, or if going into the pool maybe a tanking or crop top.
A loose style dress for going home in
Phone
Charger
Powder and eyebrow pencil
Two huge bars of dairy milk
Apple juice cartons with straws
Pringles
Oranges
Socks 4 pairs
Slippers
Dressing gown
3 nighties or 3 baggy tee shirts for wearing in hospital
Water bottle
Coat for going home in
Hijab for going home in or when I run to the toilet (I am Muslim) lol don't want dads to see my hair.
Hair brush.
Breast pads
House keys
More snacks if I can cram them in. Hospital food is dire.

Baby bag

4 sleepsuits
4 vests/babygrows
4 pairs of scratch mitts
4 hats
20 size 0 or size 1 nappies. Maybe get both.
2 Muslin squares
2-3 baby blankets
4-5 hats
Snowsuit (for going home in)
2 baby towels
Cotton wool if you don't want to use baby wipes to begin with. I will be doing the old top and tail bowl for the first month.

Hubby can bring car seat at the end.

PopsicleHustler · 04/11/2022 05:18

Oh, and hair bobbles. I would hate my hair all down around my neck and sweaty during the third stage !
Oh and towel for me, toothbrush, toothpaste
Deodorant
Shower gel (miniature travel size) how can I forget my own toiletries.

PoppyHenry · 04/11/2022 05:50

@CJones11 potentially would be between Christmas and new year my husband is adamant he will arrive the 28th December he’s said this from the beginning x
my daughter is over the moon but says she’s nervous which is understandable she’s so desperate to be a big sister again xx
how are you feeling when are you due? X

H44123 · 04/11/2022 08:30

@PopsicleHustler thank you posting your list. I think my list will be similar when I eventually do it. I was planning on a small travel cabin size suitcase for me then a small hold-all for baby although no idea how mine will all fit in a small suitcase!

I also wont be doing anything in the nursery room until mid dec with family staying in the room before. Also stressing as we haven’t ordered furniture yet (need a cot bed and wardrobe) but im trying not to worry to much as I know baby wont be in their own room for a few months! I ordered a travel system approx September, partner thought it was too early but it doesn’t arrive til mid Dec!

PopsicleHustler · 04/11/2022 09:19

Wow, oh my goodness, let's how your travel system comes in time and the nursery room ready @H44123 I actually have a double pushchair here ready

But my 4 year old sat on a part and it snapped. Hoping my husband can fix it as he is really good at fixing things, but I think its compeletely broke and double pushchair are expensive. Hoping to get something similar to the Hauck duett 2 off of Ebay or asda, as I will have my 23 month , almost 2 year old that isn't very good with walking long distances also going in the double pushchair with the new baby.

As for cot etc, I have all that ready from last baby. With having 5 kids here, I have plenty of decent hand me downs lol.

Laurzz · 04/11/2022 09:20

@CJones11 heres my list...

For me:
2 X night dress (ideal for birth and breastfeeding)
1 X Button up Pj's
1 X coming home outfit (tshirt and joggers)
2 X bras
5 X large knickers
1 X slippers
Maternity Pads
Breastpads
Nipple cream
Basic tolierties
Hairbrush
Phone charger
Face cloth
Towel
Flip flops (for the shower)
Snacks
2 X Isotonic Drinks
Birth plan and notes

For baby:
3 X baby grows
3 X vests
1 X hat and mittens
1 X knitted cardigan
1 X coming home outfit
8 X Nappies
Cotton wool
Wet wipes
Few muslin squares
Blanket

Anything I need over and above this my partner will bring in for me but think I've got the basics.

I'm not brave enough for a home birth but know someone's who recently had one and it sounded an amazing experience. Atleast you have names. Once she is born a name might just spring to mind like it did with your son. I'm sure whatever you deceide on it will be lovely 🙂

How lovely would it be yo enter the new year with your little one 😇
I'm due 2nd of January so could be touch and go with a Decemeber baby too. My son was 5 days over but always measured small throughout. This one is measuring way over🙈

I'm not feeling great tbh. I have PGP this time, sleeping is just a no which is making me irritable and my energy levels are non existent😄

I'm sure she will settle into the role as naturally as ever. There must be nothing more heart warming than seeing your eldest with a new sibling! X

CJones11 · 04/11/2022 11:32

Thanks for sharing hospital bad lists. I best make a start on mine. Totally forgot about using cotton wool the first few days/weeks!

PoppyHenry · 04/11/2022 13:35

@CJones11 ouch I had this with my daughter have you used a wheat bag? it used to offer me some relief but it is so painful I hope your managing to rest as much as you can. I’m lucky my team are wrapping me in cotton wool so I’m able to work from home xx
do you feel your ready?

thanks for the lists everyone very helpful I’m trying to be as minimal as possible xx

have You all got prams? If so what did you decide on? X

Eeejjj · 04/11/2022 13:37

@CJones11 oh I'm currently suffering from PGP too. It is horrible. At my midwife appointment, the midwife felt for the baby's position and told me she doesn't think I will make it past 39 weeks - so now I have less than 10 weeks to get everything sorted - it's starting to get reallll

I've been lucky this week as its half term (teacher) so I've been able to rest. But I am dreading this next half term!

I'm thinking of reusing the infababy pram I had with my son. Nothing wrong with it really and don't want to spend any additional money if we can help it!

Isn't it scary when we think how close full term is. 5 weeks and 3 days until I'm 37 weeks🙃
I was planning on working until end of school term which is 23rd of December but I really don't think I'm going to cope!

Eeejjj · 04/11/2022 15:01

My whole pregnancy has flown past, I just know the last weeks are gonna fly - I don't feel prepared for labour.

I start my maternity on 14 dec (annual leave until Christmas) and them maternity officially starts on the 4th Jan for me. I'm WFH for the next month or so, due to the PGP. the travelling for me is impossible.

I'm so envious of you being able to WFH😔
I'm grateful that I enjoyed labour first time around and I hope I get a similar experience. People say no two labours are the same though:/

Kerryw93 · 15/11/2022 21:07

Hello everyone !
Sorry I've just caught up ! How are you all feeling? Isn't time flying !!!!!
The weeks seem to be flying past at the moment. Starting to get abit more real now! I was reading about hospital bags.. have most of you packed already? I want to start mine but don't want to seem too keen or premature 😂🙈

Had a 4D scan on Friday for my birthday, baby is laying across my stomach breech. Feet covered her face but they managed to get a couple of good pictures, another re scan on Friday to get some better shots!
When do they test for diabetes? I havnt had a test done yet or been offered. 🤔
Counting down the weeks until MAT leave on 4th January! I work in a school so I'll be getting the half term home before then!!! Very tired and feeling HUGE!!!!!!

PopsicleHustler · 16/11/2022 06:15

Good morning, @Kerryw93 hope you're well also

In regards to the diabetes test, you should have it done by 28 weeks maximum. I had mine done and results the same day.

I had a growth scan Monday and baby is already very low down and 5lbs plus. And I am only 32 weeks! I think he could be here next month to be honest. Which would be great to have him over the holidays, no faffing about finding childcare when the kids are in school.

Need to start on the hospital bag this weekend. I have got everything except for maternity sanitary pads, newborn nappies and cotton wool pads.

Is anyone else using cotton wool pads for newborn baby bottom or just going straight to baby wipes????
