whether its eating/ drinking or some form of activity.

It's weird the things you miss when you know you can't have them! I have missed runny eggs, and having a glass of wine when I fancied one.Oh and being able to lie on my tummy to sleep! Can't wait to be able to do that again.

i've not given up runny eggs but i do miss peanuts.. peanut butter on white toast dipped in tea for breakfast.. devine !

i also miss red wine.. and stella !

Lazylou · 11/01/2008 20:33

for me, it has to be lager and prawns. I even phoned the midwife the other day to ask if i could have prawns and she told me no, which I already knew but kind of hoped the rules had changes

LadyOfWaffle · 11/01/2008 20:34

foood, of any kind. Early stages so I swear I have made it through the past few weeks on a few spoonsful of soup and crackers (obviously not though!). Not missing beer/wine in the slightest, really craved pate though the other day Oh, and DH has just joined the gym, which we were going to do together but there isn't much point for me now as I can hardly use anything. And he keeps saying how lovely the sauna and the jacuzzis are, which I can't use!

JaneHH · 11/01/2008 20:36

Are we not even allowed prawns these days? Bugger. The rules seem to change every week...

I miss a glass of wine and runny cheeeeeeeese of any kind

worzsel · 11/01/2008 20:39

i've been told prawns are fine as long as they are piping hot and have been home cooked. its cold ones like resturant prawn cocktail and stuff thats out of the question..

i've no intention of giving up prawns either lol

I did stuff a Snickers bar down my throat the day I heard there was conflicting evidence as to whether peanuts harmed you or not!

Gallons of red wine!!
Worzsel, I too still eat slightly runny eggs, I flip my fried egg over for about 20 seconds but the yolk itself still moves a little, just can't do it solid, what is the point?!
Also, there are now different theories on peanuts, quite a few health professionals now say AS LONG AS YOU HAVE NO FAMILY HISTORY OF NUT ALLERGIES it is wise to include nuts in your diet. I have actually had peanuts once, naughty!
Oooh, I have just discovered 'no alcohol' Becks Beer. I seriously thought someone had given me a proper one by mistake and tried to give it back but it was no alcohol. Try it!
Lazylou, on the government health website for what to avoid in pregnancy it says UNCOOKED prawns (ie pink but, say, in a salad) but it is OK to eat well cooked ones, ie in stir fry. In fact my other half is currently out getting a thai takeaway and I'm having prawns in ginger and have had prawns pretty regularly.

JaneHH · 11/01/2008 20:44

Phew. Though I'd been happily eating peanuts every so often until last week when I heard you're not supposed to eat them... am only 8 weeks but still.

Or is this week's theory that you CAN eat them to get the antibodies going at an early age...? [emoticon roll eyes]

Can you tell I quite like peanuts and will miss them?

Janus · 11/01/2008 20:44

My post obviously crossed with several of the previous ones!!

Umlellala · 11/01/2008 20:44

Right Now
Lemsip, Beechams and All The Anti-Decongestant Drugs I CAN'T TAKE

Gutted I haven't been on a rollercoaster since before dd (21mths) was born and now pregnant again!!

JaneHH · 11/01/2008 20:44

sorry Janus, crossposted!

maisiedaisy · 11/01/2008 20:45

I am missing wine, really missing wine!

Umlellala · 11/01/2008 20:45

I mean Decongestant obviously. Or Anti-NastyFluCold

JaneHH · 11/01/2008 20:47

could they make genetically-modified peanuts which are allergy-free (like those allergy-free cats) specially for pregnant women?

makingnosense · 11/01/2008 20:49

And don't you find that all the things you can't eat or drink, everyone around you are having?

When I first became pregnant we seemed to have loads of social things planned and everyone was drinking and I have more than had my fill of J20's now to last me a lifetime!

mns soooo true. Also why is it suddenly so difficult to lie about why you're not having a drink when out for Thursday night DRINKS with colleagues? Having a diet Coke because you felt like it before was never a problem but now I feel compelled to make up some bollocks about antibiotics because I'm not drinking a beer...

DH is making his way through some red wine

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 11/01/2008 21:18

For me it's sushi, rare steak, champagne, and runny cheese. Oh and being able to sleep on my tummy comfortably! Oh and being able to take medication for colds (besides paracetamol!) I'm sure I will think of a few more things....

whomovedmychocolate · 11/01/2008 21:23

Stilton. Oh what wouldn't I give for a nice stilton sandwich It was so hard over christmas.

BTW I've eaten peanut butter all the way through the last pregnancy and don't intend to stop now. In the US it's recommended as a healthy food for pregnancy

FrannyandZooey · 11/01/2008 21:24

medised, paracetamol, sage tea

sad but true

LadyOfWaffle · 11/01/2008 21:24

Half this stuff I never realised about - rare steak??

sophiewd · 11/01/2008 21:25

runny eggs and cheese, rearly rare beef, have been eating peanuts as neither of us have an allergy and eating prawns quite happiky as well.

LadyOfWaffle · 11/01/2008 21:25

haven't had peanut butter since I was about 5 but craving a peanut butter sandwich now! I better back away from this thread, because I will start craving it all!

LadyOfWaffle · 11/01/2008 21:27

mmmm, snickers.

whomovedmychocolate · 11/01/2008 21:45

Oh fiddlesticks - you can have rare beef and steak. As long as it's not actually moo-ing and it's from a decent butcher - do you really think women in France suddenly start cooking their steaks longer when they are expecting.
