whether its eating/ drinking or some form of activity.

It's weird the things you miss when you know you can't have them! I have missed runny eggs, and having a glass of wine when I fancied one.Oh and being able to lie on my tummy to sleep! Can't wait to be able to do that again.

Having control over my bladder. Not having to get up 20 times a night to wee. Not having varicous veins in dubious places Not having SPD. Peanuts, Gin, Stilton.

Har · 14/01/2008 12:56

Friday evening bottle of red with DH, stilton, goats cheese, sleeping on tummy (thought it was fine to sleep on left side, just that right optimal?), hot baths, red wine (again!)

Am eating peanuts just not as frequently before (Waitrose crunchy organic peanut butter is the BEST... had a tub confiscated at the airport the other day - I live abroad - as it was a paste. Started crying and begged the man to take it home rather than chuck it as it's so nice).

Am eating cold prawns though (not raw though of course), live in Sweden where everyone loves shellfish and eats it all the time. Have had cold crayfish a few times too. Now I'm nervous. Presuming it's only a problem if it's bad though (and quality very good here, I live near the sea), can't harm the baby secretly without me getting ill can it?

Anyone who loves runny eggs should move here though. There's never been a samonella scare in Sweden so there's no advice about raw eggs... homemade chocolate mousse is positively encouraged!

7 months pg and miss sleeping on tummy. Also sex is out of question now so I miss that. And fitting into my coats in this sh*y weather. And the uninterrupted sleep pattern I used to enjoy.

MissingMyHeels · 14/01/2008 13:07

Parma Ham, what I would give...

Will be one of the first things I eat when she pops out!

BearMame, why is sex out of the question? Just too uncomfortable? I'm 32 weeks, there isn't any reason why we shouldn't have sex this far preggers is there! I'm rubbish at this stuff.

EllieKat · 14/01/2008 13:23

I've missed wanting booze - a nice bitter mainly, although I get misty-eyed about the odd glass of cold white wine! I haven't banned myself from alcohol entirely, although I didn't have anything at all in the first 4 months, but on the rare days I do have half-a-half-pint-glass of bitter, I don't finish even that small amount, and my partner gets it instead! It just doesn't interest me.

I really miss sushi, although I strongly suspect that Japanese women don't suddenly stop eating traditional foods when they get pregnant! I'm bored of having to over-cook eggs, and when we were on holiday in Portugal over the summer, I decided not to risk clams etc, which was hard because I'm half-Portuguese and they're my 'soul food'! :-)

I also miss uninterrupted sleep at night, but hey! get used to it...

heavenlybaby · 14/01/2008 13:34

shockingly... everything!

makingnosense · 14/01/2008 13:37

I think the closer you get to your EDD the more you start thinking about all those things you can soon have!I put a lot of it to the back of my mind in the early days but at 38+4 I am longing for all the things I gave up.

Ok this is the rebel posting so running now before i get shot........ 'avoid' does not mean must not have.
I can't avoid eggs they are in my fridge. I like eggs you can dip bread in, to my knowledge none of them made me ill before i got pregnant so i continue to cook my eggs much the same.
dont like peanuts so lucky there
at 14 weeks pregnant went on the water rides at the water park but i did say no to ice skating last week so i'm not all bad.

Alishanty · 14/01/2008 14:08

Definitely alcohol, but then I don't miss the hangovers, that's what keeps me going lol! I haven't given up peanuts, I don't eat loads tho. I didn't give them up with my first and he hasn't got a nut allergy also no family history so I don't see it as a worry. I have had runny eggs on occasion aswell, naughty I know.

Bidi · 15/01/2008 22:37

SUSHI! Oh the pain...I want to hurt people when i see them eating it in front of me

PurlyQueen · 15/01/2008 23:01

I miss the ability to turn over in bed without requiring the use of a crane.

pregnabrain · 15/01/2008 23:03

Brie, camembert, stilton, gorgonzola, salami, parma ham. I can't actually face going into a deli at the moment.

Oh, and on a slightly different note - i miss not having to worry about imminent birth-giving. maybe if i focus hard enough on the charcuterie fest i'm going to have afterwards, it'll get me through it!

cityangel · 15/01/2008 23:14

Mum2b2BabyRoo I am with you I also miss sushi, rare steak, champagne, camembert, parma ham and I had no idea about prawns....

I had a massive prawn cocktail in France and liked it sooo much I went back the restaurant and had it again the next day!

When I come back from the hospital I shall be holding a cheese and wine party for myself and my hubbie, making sure there is plenty of roquefort for my cravings and perhaps a few peanut nibbles and a touch of pate on toast. Perhaps after a few glasses I shall indulge in some wild dancing and glory in the absence of Braxton Hicks contractions.
At my hangover breakfast, after a restful sleep lying alternately on my tummy and flat on my back, with no midnight wees, I shall be sipping champagne as I tuck into poached egg with smoked salmon.
Baby, of course, will sleep through the night and not make any complaint of the alcohol in my bloodstream as I breastfeed...

walkingwomb · 16/01/2008 08:44

Jacuzzi! Having normal sized knockers - where did these monsters come from? unlimited amounts of coffee.

merryberry · 16/01/2008 08:56

I have missed my immune system. Bored of catching colds etc, now!

Amberc · 16/01/2008 13:56

Just been on holiday and it's rubbish not being able to drink in the evening with dinner. Also can't eat any lobster or crab which I miss like crazy. Lastly I miss being able to lie on my stomach as I have come back from my holiday all lovely and brown on one side and lily white on the other!

tassisssss · 16/01/2008 13:57

pate

more than half a glass of wine

Pollyanna · 16/01/2008 14:00

I miss wearing nice clothes, checking out clothes in magazines and shop windows etc. Fashion is largely irrelevant to me while I am pg (I do not do pregnancy well ). So I also miss having a normal sized body as I also put on shed loads of weight all over

I don't really miss food and wine, but would like to be able to stay awake in the evenings...

PennyBenjamin · 16/01/2008 14:15

What I've missed most is the enjoyment of food.

I love food - I love thinking about it, I love cooking it, I love eating it. I love the feeling when you're really hungry, and you fantasize about eating something in particular, and then you satisfy that, and it's wonderful.

Since I've been pregnant, I've totally lost that. I'm never hungry, have no interest in food and can't face cooking.

I miss it!

Catzenobia · 16/01/2008 16:52

Keeping food down. Yoghurt and milk which come straight up so I can't even have a nice cup of tea... Red wine in decent amounts (DH measures out my permitted unit which is tiny). Sleeping on my tummy. Steam Rooms (have had a jacuzzi as they're not usually that hot).

BearMama · 16/01/2008 18:36

MissingMyHeels, yes sex is out of the question because its too uncomfortable. A shame because DP is rather good at it. He doesnt pester me tho, bless him, just tells me wistfully that he misses it.

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 16/01/2008 19:02

Feeling well.

Li · 17/01/2008 14:15

I have missed having a decent wee! OMG the first post natal wee is heaven! Not the sad little tiny tinkle every 20 minutes but a proper grown up one that makes you feel empty!! Gross, but true!
