Oh no @beansprout55 not good that you had one too! The hospital said monitoring looked fine and the ECG was precautionary. It picked up some irregular heartbeats (mine) but they can be normal in pregnancy. And if I felt fine and baby moving ok then not to worry. So staying off Google as the medical research paper I read was really horrid.

@Vimto1991 i have nights when the baby seems to move non-stop, and others very little. I think it depends how well I’m sleeping. If you don’t feel movements are normal once you’re up and about you could call triage?

Clomid1 · 02/05/2022 07:20

@destiEos Thank you for sharing your story. It gives me a little bit of hope reading reassuring experiences. For me its baby’s AC that is measuring on 3.5 percentile. I’ll attach a screenshot of measurements that I put into a WHO foetal medicine calculator.

@Vimto1991 I was told foetal medicine only get involved if baby is measuring under 5th percentile. Anything higher I am not sure my trust do much either.

@Prema112 Thank you. How much did your friends baby weigh at birth? Did she have to stay in NICU

Honestly feels like the slowest 2 weeks of my life. The wait is horrible.

@PleaseSendNoodles Both pram and car seat look amazing. I am really confused with mine because its one you keep fitted to the car so I am not sure if I’d be allowed to carry baby out unless I get a pram.

Clomid1 · 02/05/2022 07:25

@Vimto1991 it may just be a position change. Maybe call triage, sometimes they talk it through with you and then they decide whether its worth you coming in for monitoring.

I get nervous calling but think of it this way, you’ll probably never see these people again after you’ve given birth so it doesn’t matter what they think of you. You should do whats best for you.

Lostintranslatio · 02/05/2022 07:31

I don't know where I read that a baby that moves in the belly is a happy baby, so I don't worry when she is not stopping (like it has been happening since Saturday, she must know is a BH weekend 🤣)

Vimto1991 · 02/05/2022 07:35

@Clomid1 I’m worried they’ll think I’m taking the piss, I’ve been twice in two weeks. Reduced movements, erratic movements and now increased movements. 🙁 I’m gonna give it to 8 and see if baby calms down, Baby could have slept whilst I slept so hard to tell, but they have moved since I woke up round 6:50 so on 40 mins of activity, although had slowed down.

Vimto1991 · 02/05/2022 07:38

@Lostintranslatio I’ve not read anything to say it’s a truly bad thing to be fair but it’s a bit unusual for baby when I get a downtime of an hour or two and now I’m getting maybe five or ten minutes between rolls or kicks. I had dinner super late (9:30 is late for me) last night, and I wonder if that’s had an affect.
when you say not stopping, are you getting any breaks between movements?

fpeg · 02/05/2022 07:46

@Vimto1991 my baby has never been more active than the 4 days we were in the hospital! She was just ridiculous, squirming all the time, kept failing her CTGs because of it. Midwives and doctors just laughed at her all the time saying she was causing trouble. She's gone back to normal since coming out of hospital, which I've actually found quite hard as she is sooooo quiet in comparison! Just wanting to give you some reassurance that none of midwives, residents or consultants were at all concerned about her hyperactivity whilst we were in hospital. Obviously if you feel something is wrong get checked, just wanted to offer a positive increased activity story x

CurryandSnuggle · 02/05/2022 07:54

@JAR1981 bless you, so sorry to read that. Glad you’re both ok, and try to stay off google!!

As for covid risk, perha

CurryandSnuggle · 02/05/2022 07:55

Oops, hit post early!! @JAR1981 was supposed to say… perhaps wear rubber gloves (dry haha) when turning on communal light switches. Xx

Lostintranslatio · 02/05/2022 07:59

@Vimto1991 oh yes, she gives me a break every now and then. Maybe 30-45min where I don't feel her or if I do it is very lightly. And then 15-20min where she will absolutely not stop kicking, rolling, sticking little bum out...

Prema112 · 02/05/2022 08:07

@Vimto1991 I think I wouldn't worry too much about increased movement- unless baby then goes really quiet like what happened with Peeache's little girl. My boy has been quite quiet the last week and moved almost non stop yesterday eve and is moving lots now too, I'm happy to feel him lots!

@Clomid1 She was 5 pounds and didn't need NICU

Prema112 · 02/05/2022 08:08

@JAR1981 How scary! So glad to hear baby all ok and I'd imagine if there was any damage to be done with electricity it would be instant so I'm sure your baby is fine!

JAR1981 · 02/05/2022 08:10

@CurryandSnuggle gloves are probably a good shout!

How is everyone doing on the hospital bag and carseat fitting front? We were supposed to do it this weekend (35 weeks) but wondering if we leave until next. Does 36 weeks feel late? (I know there is no way of predicting when baby wants to say hello!)

CurryandSnuggle · 02/05/2022 08:21

@JAR1981 we’ve not fitted our car seat yet, and I’m 36 weeks on Friday.

Bag also not packed. However I am on leave as of 7th May so going to do it all then 🙂

Starbeach · 02/05/2022 08:24

Hi All firstly congrats to @PeeAche2 and anyone else who has had their baby. Im petrified mine is going to turn up early as I am still in the middle of decorating and OH is soo busy with his job its impossible to pin him down for an hour he works 14-16 hour days 7 days a week. So I'm desperately trying to find a decorator.

How are you all doing anyway? I fought and was told by the consultant as long as its in the the alongside obs maternity unit i could have a water birth yay then i had a scan and Baby is currently breech 🙈 so praying she will turn in time

Can I ask has anyone not had their belly measured with a tape measure (not sure what its called)? I'm 33+3 and I've not been measured but I'm having growth scans so I don't know if this is why.

Xx

Starbeach · 02/05/2022 08:37

@Clomid1 what car seat have you bought? Only I've been doing loads of research into them and there is some really good fb groups about them too. xx

Flowerbug1994 · 02/05/2022 08:41

@Starbeach having growth scans and not getting belly measured as that’s how they usually indicate babies size. But as we are getting growth scans they don’t need a rough idea like that they get a more accurate one from scan. What usually happens if they measure with tape and arnt happy with measurements big or small they then send you for growth scan.

on hospital bag front I haven’t touched mine am going to go and get all my toiletries for it today and make a start the next couple of weeks am 34+3 xx

RooSut25 · 02/05/2022 08:54

@Starbeach I'm having regular growth scans and have never had the fundal height measurement - I was told I'm essentially discharged from midwife care into consultant's - only saw a midwife for initial booking and birth plan! So I think it's totally normal - the growth scans tell you more anyway.

@Vimto1991 my LO is all over the place too - lots of quite violent movements (which are getting painful!) but then quiet for several hours at a time. And then the next day it's constant little roll overs, or 15mins of hiccups. I can't find any sort of consistent pattern. I guess 99% of the time everything's fine when you get worried but you can't tell whether it's the other 1% where it's not so it's always better to get checked - you might always feel silly afterwards but it's better to play it safe!

fpeg · 02/05/2022 08:55

@Starbeach I'm having growth scans too and every midwife appointment they tell me they aren't doing the tape measuring because of this. So I've only got the growth scans recorded on the chart (with the exception of one tape measurement at 28 weeks before I had any growth scans)

@JAR1981 my hospital bag has been packed (and now repacked!) but I also accept that I've had a very strong motivator to do it 😂 I'm glad it was already packed though because then I was just able to send OH home for it when we did have our unexpected stay.

Katiebaby13 · 02/05/2022 09:07

Awr @JAR1981 I'm sure it will be fine. My mum did the exact same thing when she was pregnant with me and obviously everything was fine. Hope you and your husband make up soon!

EarlGreywithLemon · 02/05/2022 09:08

@JAR1981 I also had an electric shock from a hairdryer in the third trimester in my first pregnancy - we were in Denmark on holiday! We headed to hospital and had an ECG and CTG for the baby and all was well. No issues after that. As an aside, Danish hospitals are great, if the one I saw is anything to go by.

34 weeks now (by the official date) and my husband was getting my bag down from the loft today. I’ll pack it at leisure over the next few days/weeks.

Vimto1991 · 02/05/2022 09:42

@Lostintranslatio last night I was getting about 5 minutes before the next movement. Feels like the opposite of yours 😂 big chunk of movement, tiny rest.

@RooSut25 the constant little rollovers is almost like what I’m feeling, I can’t tell a pattern because between 8 and 11 last night it’d be big kicks and rolls, followed by maybe 15 minutes of little rolls, then big kicks and rolls again so felt constant. I wouldn’t normally complain but I’d also go hours without feeling them, too!!

@Prema112 yeah that’s why I had excessive movement checked last week, I had a period of really wild and violent motions followed by nothing, but they passed the ctg (then I waited three hours for a cervix examination), all fine and sent home. I don’t know why but anything out the norm freaks me out. Increased movement doesn’t seem to be a bag thing, but moving outside of “pattern” hours may be. I don’t even have a pattern lol

I’ve started tracking in a note pad today, already seems calmer than yesterday. Only started about 8:30pm last night which would have been the normal pattern, however, we ate dinner super late (around 9:30) and even had raspberries and cream past 10pm so I think I ruined their pattern and made them hyperactive before I went to bed. Today I’m not feeling much movement in between down time. From 6:50-7:40 I had a lot of strong movement and not a lot between 7:40-8 where I had a nap between 8 and 9. Hiccups started at 9:17- I expect movement around 9:30 so this is fine. Quiet since 9:27, got the occasional roll or kick which is similar to last night, made me wonder if I’m feeling them sleep so it’s not constant awake. I’ll keep tracking until 11 so I can build up a clear picture and decide to call the midwife unit for advice before triage. If by 11 I notice a little pattern I’ll put it down to… don’t eat that late again. 🙄

Letsbekindplease · 02/05/2022 11:11

@Vimto1991 i would call if you feel you have increased movements. My midwife said when I was in the other week that they want people to call for any change to movement whether it’s reduced or increased and not to think that you are bugging anyone. That’s why they are there. So please don’t worry that you are annoying people or taking the piss because you aren’t at all. I would call for those reasons.

ive woke up. Pile and all . Brilliant.
I'm going to get this hospital bag sorted today.

PeeAche2 · 02/05/2022 11:23

Hi guys, just a quick hello and to remind that my baby was born at 32 weeks following increased movements. Her movements became "violent" and "jerky" before falling still, apart from the hiccups.

The movements felt painful and to me they felt as though she was panicking.

My community midwife dismissed my concerns with the old "any movement is good movement" adage... but my local pregnancy unit admitted me immediately for monitoring.

(Within 24 hours, I was diagnosed with a Fetal Maternal Haemorrhage and baby delivered safely)

ANY change in movement is worth checking. From 32 weeks onwards, movements should not vary much. From 32 weeks, it is a myth that "movements sometimes slow down". Don't take any chances! Don't take no for an answer, if you "feel like something is wrong".

✌️

sunflower198 · 02/05/2022 11:45

@Starbeach yes, I'm having regular growth scans with the gestational diabetes team so my usual midwife doesn't bother with measuring the bump - she still listens to heartbeat at each appt but she said the growth scans were all I needed.
Although, I've just remembered In my last pregnancy, I had growth scans too but the midwife still measured, so I think it may depend on your actual midwife! 🤷🏻‍♀️
