BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans

1000 replies

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 07:27

Hi everyone.

I've started this group for us to chat about our symptoms, scans and any other pregancy related issues after getting a BFP following IVF/IUI/ICSI.

It is by no means to leave anyone out of the previous groups we have been in, where we all offer advice and help during an IVF cycle.

We all know hearing people's positive pregancy news can be heart breaking. I just found on the group that we are talking scans, symptoms, signs and positive tests I'm very conscious that those currently mid cycle may get upset.

We can all still give advice but maybe we could use this group as our pregnancies progress.

I've tagged who I remember from the last group, please feel free to add others as they join us on this next phase of our journey or if I have missed anyone.

@bajanbump that’s excellent news. I’m glad to hear you are feeling relieved 😀

Overlyanxious · 28/04/2022 11:37

I seem to be really achey today - stomach and lower back. I think this is normal but it is worrying me a bit as it’s been going on for a while now and is more achey then I’ve had.

Bluehawaii29 · 28/04/2022 13:37

@Overlyanxious hey I think that sounds normal. As long as it’s not severe cramps some aches here and there are normal. Hopefully you feel better soon, you could try one off paracetamol if it’s really bothering you x
@bajanbump congrats on your 6 week scan, hope they both continue to grow well

Justawannabemam · 28/04/2022 14:41

Thanks for all the good wishes yesterday.
Unfortunately the twins haven't grown much than 3 weeks ago now. Obviously that's causing some concern to the consultant. They've done the amniocentesis to check for any abnormalities and were awaiting that result. They both still have beating hearts albeit a bit slower and faint than where they would have liked them to be.
Realistically we (them and us) don't think that they will make it. Either that pregancy will end naturally or if it starts to show detriment to the other one it may have to be ended.

Personally I have done everything I can and it's no one's fault, and not with faint heart, it is one of those things. If it doesn't end it could carry on and then they would hve to consider delivering all 3 at 24 weeks which could then have further serious anf life threatenning consequences, both to all 3 babies and myself.
The consultant is a specialist of multiples and such a lovely lady. She said It's not uncommon for this to happen. So in our heads we kinda know what the outcome of having three is going to be 💔. Whilst we are both heart broken about not having triplets, my partner and I are big believers of "everything happens for a reason" and if God wanted us to have 3 babies all would be well. We will be eternally grateful if we have one healthy baby come the end of October. If someone had told me last October when I had a CP that I would be holding a healthy baby in 12 months time I'm not sure I would have believed them. We feel fortunate to be in a position to have received the best care for our IVF treatment and so lucky thay we were successful, alot of people are unable to get to the point we are. And that must be devastating.

A bit of positive thou . The single is doing fine. Was doing lots of movements whilst we were getting scanned and showing all good on growth.

I hope I've not upset anyone with my message. I hope you can all understand that things are a bit uncertain at the moment. We are back for a scan on 2 weeks so hopefully we will know more then.

Love to you all ❤️

@Justawannabemam I’m sorry to hear about the twins and really don’t worry about upsetting anyone. I just hope that you’re doing ok. It sounds like you have the right attitude. Glad to hear the singleton is doing well though. I’m sorry it’s still more waiting for you. xx

xreadytoglow · 28/04/2022 15:38

@Justawannabemam so good to hear from you. I'm so sorry about the news of the twins but it sounds like you are in the best care and will have the best approach for you and for the hope of your singleton. Like you say, just having the one is a lovely miracle, although sad that it's siblings couldn't grow alongside it. 💔
I hope you and your partner are okay and eventually can start to enjoy the process of becoming parents, whilst still remembering what has been lost along the way.

2mumlife · 28/04/2022 17:37

@bajanbump I'm sorry to hear your previous mc has been affecting your mental health, but what fantastic news at your scan. I hope you can gradually feel more relaxed x

@Overlyanxious I had a lot of crampy achey stretchy feelings througout first trimester. If there is nothing else amiss (i.e. no bleeding etc) I'd try not to worry - think of it as fetus settling in for the long haul x

@Justawannabemam I'm sorry scan didn't show more positive growth of the twins. It must be such a difficult situation to be in with the uncertainty and some difficult decisions potentially needing to be made.Hoping you can find ways to make the next 2 weeks pass quickly

From having spent ages waiting for a bump, I seem to have suddenly ballooned quite rapidly over the last week 😮apparently a 21 week growth spurt is a thing, but its really made pregnancy feel very real all of a sudden, and feels a bit daunting that its going to keep getting bigger!

xreadytoglow · 29/04/2022 09:51

@2mumlife aww! yay to the big bump now! Still no movements yet?

bajanbump · 29/04/2022 10:44

My app is giving issues, it just won't let me post, I can only post with my computer

@Justawannabemam I'm so sorry to hear the news. I can't imagine how hard it must be to grieve while at the same time being happy for the singleton. In any case, as you said, the most important is that in a few months, you'll have a precious baby in your arms. And please share as much as you need to, you won't upset anyone, we are here to support each other!

Bluehawaii29 · 29/04/2022 11:37

Hi yeah I really hate mumsnet, ridiculous how bad this layout is
@Justawannabemam I’m really sorry you are going through such a tough time, I hope you can stay positive for the little one and try to focus on taking one healthy baby home at the end of it, take care x

im just trying to get through last day at work before 10 days off. Can’t wait to be free, feel so burnt out and like I’ve had no fun at all. Turning into a very dull person. On another note, just over a week left till 12 week mark and stopping meds!

bajanbump · 29/04/2022 16:16

@Bluehawaii29 I feel you. Im heading to Miami on Sunday, and then back home to Barbados on Tuesday. Can't wait to be in the sea. I hope the little ones don't mind a bit of travel lol

By the way guys..obviously as soon as I got my report I checked all crown rump length dating tables..bc obviously I enjoy worrying all the time ( -.-')

Everything seems to be right with the little ones, but I was surprised to see how different some tables were..like a world apart values-wise.

2mumlife · 03/05/2022 09:43

@xreadytoglow Started to be convinced of movements around 19/20 week point. They are still a bit inconsistent, and they are still subtle enough that if I’m having a busy day then I won’t feel anything all day. I can generally encourage them at this point by eating something and “tuning in”. I’ve had the few times I’ve been a bit worried when I’ve not felt anything that day, but the advice seems to be not to start trying to count kicks etc until a little bit later on when movements are more consistent. I’m looking forward to movements getting stronger and partner actually getting to feel them too as it’s strange trying to describe it to someone else!

@Bluehawaii29 Enjoy your time off! We’re also off this week, but just down to a caravan near the Lake District, but the rain is currently interrupting our walking plans for the day!

@bajanbump Enjoy Miami! My folks have a house in Florida and we’re planning on going out with wee’un in January all being well for some maternity leave sun!

Bluehawaii29 · 03/05/2022 09:51

@2mumlife thanks yeah just relaxing mainly, it’s so cold outside. Managed to finally meet family yesterday evening for dinner but I hadn’t slept well that night and was looking like a zombie, even the mother in law said I looked very tired but she was excited to see my bump :) it’s already visible which was a surprise. 5 days till my 12 week scan now and till I can stop the meds so will be nice. Aww that’s nice you went to Lake District. We were thinking of going there for a staycation in July/ august. I’ve applied for all my annual leave now before maternity leave in October so basically taking time off every month. Not much planned but just nice to be off work

Overlyanxious · 03/05/2022 20:36

@bajanbump being in the sea sounds lovely.

@2mumlife enjoy the Lake District. I hope the weather improves. I hope you get more frequent movements as that will be lovely to feel.

@Bluehawaii29 ah you’re so close to the 12 weeks. I still find it exciting I don’t have to use the pessaries and it’s only been a week of not taking them. I hope you enjoy your time off.

I’m feeling really tired today and a bit gross. Hoping I’ll sleep well tonight and feel more refreshed tomorrow.

Bluehawaii29 · 03/05/2022 20:46

@Overlyanxious aww I was feeling like that yesterday after broken sleep but had 10ths last night and much better today. Hope you manage to sleep better tonight x

@Overlyanxious thank you for your msg! Today has been so hectic with telling the rest of the family I've only just gotten around to posting 🙈
Thank you for thinking of me and I hope you feel better soon!! I've just started feeling really crappy aswell, I'd felt fine all the rest of the first trimester!

Bryterlayter1 · 03/05/2022 21:06

@xreadytoglow congrats. But you might want to ask mumsnet to take down photos as they have identifying info on them.

xreadytoglow · 03/05/2022 21:11

@Bryterlayter1 good point !!!!

xreadytoglow · 03/05/2022 21:12

@Bryterlayter1 how do I do that?

Overlyanxious · 03/05/2022 21:16

@xreadytoglow amazing. That is such a clear pic. Sounds like a lovely selection of clothes for baby. It’s all so exciting 😀

Bryterlayter1 · 03/05/2022 21:34

@xreadytoglow I think you can report your post (bottom right hand corner of the post) and ask them to remove the picture.

xreadytoglow · 03/05/2022 22:05

(Reposting after my picture outing 🤦🏻‍♀️)

I had my scan 🥰
I’m 13 weeks today but measuring ahead at 13+3.
Baby was doing a headstand at first so they couldn’t get the NT measurement but I went to the loo and danced around and it moved to a good position afterwards so we got such a good photo! 🤍

Feeling so good now and so excited to announce over the next couple of days. We went out to buy our first things and it was so surreal and actually so much harder when it's your own 😂! We bought a 7 pack of long sleeve bodysuits and two little dungarees outfits with matching short sleeve bodysuits underneath. Oh and two hats 🥰

On cloud nine right now

BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans
Overlyanxious · 04/05/2022 16:14

@xreadytoglow congratulations again. I had my 13 week scan today and all was good 😊 the woman taking my bloods really rammed the needle in though and my arm still hurts, but I don’t care too much as happy to see a healthy baby. It was crazy seeing the brain and spinal cord.
