BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 07:27

Hi everyone.

I've started this group for us to chat about our symptoms, scans and any other pregancy related issues after getting a BFP following IVF/IUI/ICSI.

It is by no means to leave anyone out of the previous groups we have been in, where we all offer advice and help during an IVF cycle.

We all know hearing people's positive pregancy news can be heart breaking. I just found on the group that we are talking scans, symptoms, signs and positive tests I'm very conscious that those currently mid cycle may get upset.

We can all still give advice but maybe we could use this group as our pregnancies progress.

I've tagged who I remember from the last group, please feel free to add others as they join us on this next phase of our journey or if I have missed anyone.

I just heard back following my midwife appointment (so 9 days after) and I have a UTI ☹️ I had no idea

Justawannabemam · 22/04/2022 16:19

@Overlyanxious aww that's sucks. Hope u feel better soon.

When I saw the specialist for multiple babies she said I should have been on asprin weeks ago ! My local hospital mentioned it to me and said it would be from 20 weeks.

My partners taking me out for tea tonight. Bless him it's not very often he suggests it . I think his getting sick of me feeding him the same shit haha cos I'm not really eating the same as him. I often feel sick in the evenings so I eat what I fancy x

Thank you @Justawannabemam. I'm a bit worried about how long I may have had it. Some of the symptoms are things I just thought were pregnancy related (e.g frequent urination). Although my GP did say there is a chance the sample was contaminated. I'm being prescribed antibiotics.

That's really bad you only just got told about the aspirin. Also confusing that there are differing opinions.

Oh I hope you enjoy your dinner out.

xreadytoglow · 22/04/2022 17:46

@Overlyanxious 9 days is ridiculous isn't it. Glad they're treating you now. I'm sure it's not too serious if you haven't got any pain etc.

I'm feeling really worried myself 😢. I called the clinic asking if they had my results from the urine test. They passed me on to the nurse that saw me and she said that there was no growth. She said it is quite high though at 128. She seemed concerned herself. Then said to come in Monday because they need to do more blood tests to check my kidney and liver function etc. I couldn't do Monday but I said is Tuesday okay, she said 'oh yeah that's better in fact because we have a doctor here that day so they can talk to you about your results.'

Ummmmm okay... definitely feeling like something is wrong with me.

@Bluehawaii29 I'm sorry to pester you. What do you think about this? And do you know what the normal amount is supposed to be? She didn't give me any units so not sure what those are.

xreadytoglow · 22/04/2022 18:03

And to top that off, I've now had to put a post on asking about bright orange anal discharge which is something I didn't think I would ever type in my life. 😂😂

Aaagghhhh sorry to be a Debbie Downer, I'm just having one of those days where nothing is straight forward.

Overlyanxious · 22/04/2022 18:08

@xreadytoglow I'm sorry to hear this. Always worrying when they sound concerned (although it may have just been her manner). However if it was that urgent they would have you going to A&E. So surely it can't be that bad. It's really thrown me today and put me into this negative headspace that everything is going to go wrong. Although I know these types of things are common.

Bluehawaii29 · 22/04/2022 20:10

@Overlyanxious hi sorry to hear about the UTI but think of it as being treated now at least and it’s very common in pregnancy so try not to worry about it x
@xreadytoglow i can see why her tone of voice must have got you worried, it’s not nice to not know what’s going on over the weekend but try not to worry too much. What is the 128 referring to? Red blood cells. I’ve not really heard of this. If you have a copy of your report maybe show me the pic so I can give you a better idea x

xreadytoglow · 22/04/2022 20:27

@Bluehawaii29 Heyy I don't have any paperwork. She just said the levels of protein was 128 and it was quite high.

Bluehawaii29 · 22/04/2022 21:02

@xreadytoglow hi yeah that is a bit strange. No idea why that would be. It’s way too early for pre eclampsia. That would give protein in urine. I guess now they need to further investigate to check you don’t have any pre existing kidney conditions that may be contributing? is there any family history of any kidney issues or any past history you’ve had with recurrent urine infections x

xreadytoglow · 22/04/2022 21:05

@Bluehawaii29 no nothing. I don't have any medical conditions and can't remember ever having a UTI. Obviously Google tells me all sorts of serious conditions can cause it 😵‍💫 so it's just been freaking me out.

Overlyanxious · 22/04/2022 21:40

@xreadytoglow definitely stay away from Google. It's not really fair for them to be concerned but then give you no info. Also I somehow missed your orange discharge message - you're really not having a good day. I guess for that you could ring 111 if you're worried. Sending you lots of positive vibes x

xreadytoglow · 22/04/2022 21:45

@Overlyanxious thank you. Part of me thinks it could just be a reaction from the pessary but then I don't know. Seems strange it just started 5 days after changing to use it rectally.
Thank you for the well wishes. You're right though in what you say about A&E aswell. Fingers crossed it's nothing.

Overlyanxious · 22/04/2022 21:45

@xreadytoglow I also meant to say I found out I'm rhesus negative as well today. I got told I would have a blood test at some point and then an injection at 28 weeks. I'll bring it up at my next appointment as it's all a bit new.

xreadytoglow · 22/04/2022 21:52

@Overlyanxious oh really. Just mention it to someone if you have a bleed for any reason, obviously hopefully you don't! Apparently they can do a blood test now to see the blood type of your baby, and if they are negative too you don't need the injection.

Overlyanxious · 22/04/2022 21:55

@xreadytoglow that's good to know about the bleeding. The midwife told me on the phone when she rang about the UTI and she didn't mention that. She only told me because I asked if my bloods were ok

xreadytoglow · 22/04/2022 21:58

@Overlyanxious yeah they told me it's very important to have the injection if I have any bleeding. Then it protects you for 6 weeks.

Bluehawaii29 · 23/04/2022 10:43

@xreadytoglow hey looks like my 12 week scan is same day as you on 9th may. They have to do transvaginal as well though which is really annoying. They say it can check cervix length because I had a previous polyp surgery so they just wanted to make sure it’s good length. I really hope it doesn’t aggravate me again and hopefully will be stronger by then

xreadytoglow · 23/04/2022 10:47

@Bluehawaii29 oh really! That's a shame they have to do it TV. But good that they're checking your cervix. I managed to bring mine forward in the end. When I called about my results yesterday I asked if they had had any cancellations or gaps opened up. It was a different lady who booked it before and she said she'd squeezed me in on the 3rd. I could've kissed her over the phone!! So not as long to wait now before I can finally tell work and my other friends and family. Think work are getting bored of my 'bad back' excuse now 🥴😂

Bluehawaii29 · 23/04/2022 12:03

@xreadytoglow thats great! Just round the corner now. Already April is ending. That’s impressive you held your work off the scent so long! At least it’s not long now till you can tell everyone x

xreadytoglow · 23/04/2022 12:07

@Bluehawaii29 yeah not long now 😅 and we get the keys to our first house next Friday too. So we have lots of fun times ahead.
Just need them to tell me next week that my body isn't falling apart and I'll be golden!! I called my fertility clinic to check if they had done any liver or kidney checks and they said no they don't have any need to do those. Although the patient leaflet from my cyclogest says not to use if you have any liver problems !

Overlyanxious · 23/04/2022 18:28

@xreadytoglow that's great you got to change your scan - yours is the day before mine. Also very exciting about the house.

@Bluehawaii29 although TV is annoying it's good they are checking your cervix.

Bluehawaii29 · 24/04/2022 08:36

@xreadytoglow heyy congrats on the keys to new house. Very exciting times indeed x
@Overlyanxious that’s true, I guess it’s better to let them do their checks
im celebrating being part of the double figure crew today, am 10 weeks today! Baby as big as a prune. Just 2 more weeks countdown now for these meds 🙏🏽✨

Overlyanxious · 24/04/2022 10:02

Congratulations @Bluehawaii29. It does feel good to be in double figures. I finish my meds on Tuesday and I cannot wait.

xreadytoglow · 24/04/2022 10:11

@Bluehawaii29 congrats!! 😊 already a quarter of a way there..

@Overlyanxious same! Do we have the same due date? I'm 12 weeks on Tuesday, due 8th Nov.

Overlyanxious · 24/04/2022 11:11

@xreadytoglow I'm a day behind you so 9th November. Not sure why I'm a day short - but I assume 1 day won't make a difference
