BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans

1000 replies

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 07:27

Hi everyone.

I've started this group for us to chat about our symptoms, scans and any other pregancy related issues after getting a BFP following IVF/IUI/ICSI.

It is by no means to leave anyone out of the previous groups we have been in, where we all offer advice and help during an IVF cycle.

We all know hearing people's positive pregancy news can be heart breaking. I just found on the group that we are talking scans, symptoms, signs and positive tests I'm very conscious that those currently mid cycle may get upset.

We can all still give advice but maybe we could use this group as our pregnancies progress.

I've tagged who I remember from the last group, please feel free to add others as they join us on this next phase of our journey or if I have missed anyone.

So first beta hgc 2 weeks after 2 blastocyst transfer.. 2900!

Now I have to gi back on Thursday, hopefully they double well.. and then we can look forward to the first scan on the 27th!

Bluehawaii29 · 12/04/2022 13:51

@2mumlife I’ve decided to stop the aspirin now after what I’ve read about it increasing risk of SCH coming back. I am waiting for call back from EPU dr and will tell her I’m not happy to take it, been having it for 6 days now and they never told me this before I started it or I wouldn’t have

xreadytoglow · 12/04/2022 13:55

@2mumlife yes I definitely have that one sided pain when I sneeze! Ouch!! I keep having to try to bend my knees if I feel one coming on.

@AliceAbsolum aw I'm sorry you had to go through what you did. That sounds so incredibly hard. It's understandable that you are anxious but remember this is a totally different pregnancy 🤍 wishing you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy.

@bajanbump great number 😀

Overlyanxious · 12/04/2022 13:56

@bajanbump oh that's a good number - fingers crossed for Thursday

2mumlife · 12/04/2022 14:28

@Bluehawaii29 I'd speak to your consultant - you're on aspirin for a twin pregnancy to help reduce your risk of a range of complications related to having multiples. That might far outweigh the risk of a SCH. Since you already have an SCH it's probably more of a benefit to you to be taking aspirin than a risk. I'd speak to your consultant about benefits versus risks for your individual situation before stopping medication so you can make the most informed choice X

@bajanbump HCG level sounds very promising. Interesting you're getting a repeat with levels that good, is that just your clinics standard practice?

Bluehawaii29 · 12/04/2022 14:33

@2mumlife thanks, yeah that makes sense. Just the spotting after the internal scan has made me anxious again about SCH returning but I’m waiting for call back from that dr so hopefully she will give me a clearer understanding of exactly why they recommend the aspirin

Bluehawaii29 · 12/04/2022 14:42

@Justawannabemam hi hope you are well. Wanted to ask if you are on aspirin with the triplets? And what was the reason if you’re on it that they said you should take it? how is everything going otherwise x

xreadytoglow · 12/04/2022 15:00

@JMC91 hope your scan went well x

Justawannabemam · 12/04/2022 15:08

Hi

No im not taking aspirin the midwife did say I will need blood thinking injections from about 20 weeks .

All good otherwise, waiting for our 12 week scan before we tell anyone. Making sure everything is OK. X

@2mumlife Yes, its the clinic's practice, funny enough I used to work at the clinic so I know all the procedures by heart LOL

I asked them if I could skip the second one bc no matter what you worry if you have a test done, and they were like you know what's the deal lol they just told me to relax and enjoy bc everything is looking good so far

My last pregnancy (years ago with another partner) was a blighted ovum so to say im paranoid doesnt cut it. I think that - if all goes well- until I get my harmony test done I wont be able to breath.

Bryterlayter1 · 12/04/2022 15:21

@bajanbump my clinic did a repeat hcg after 48 hours too. I found it reassuring once I knew the readings had doubled. With an hcg that high both blasts might have stuck!

bajanbump · 12/04/2022 15:43

@Bryterlayter1 that would be amazing tbh, but in any case 1 or 2 i just want them/him/her to be healthy.

they were two 5AB so pretty strong blastocyst. The whole cycle went pretty week, 10 follicles, 9 mature, 7 fecundated, 6 blastocyst.

The Dr wanted me to only transfer 1 but I fought to have 2. Im 37 and we have masculine factor so the only way for us is IVF. I want more than one baby, so I thought the chance of twins was not a bad one while Im still strong and in shape (im very into sports so I feel strong even if im not that young anymore)

In any case I know with this process is step by step, so im trying to enjoy every minute of it (minus when im worried for a test 🤣🤣) we created a playlist for the little ones the day of the transfer and I have been playing it for them since then. For us it was important that for as long as they were with us whether it was a cycle or hopefully all our lives.. they could feel loved.

It might sound stupid but we really believe in this.

bajanbump · 12/04/2022 15:44

*well

Justawannabemam · 12/04/2022 15:49

@bajanbump . Congratulations .

Wow that is a High number . Mine was 600 my clinic didn't do a 2nd rest as they said there was no requirement as it was high. We found out at our 4 week scan we are having triplets. One of them had split we are delighted . Like you this was our only way . I'm 40 . Again like you well into my sports. I think im in better condition than some people half my age. So we are looking forward to it. Slightly nervous everything will be okay got a 12 week scan on 20th.

Whats the harmony test for ? We have decided we are having the amniocentesis test after we've had the NT measurements taken x

Good luck for the rest of your pregnancy.
X

@AliceAbsolum that's so hard what you went through.
Every pregnancy is so different so I'm hoping you have a better outcome ❤️

JMC91 · 12/04/2022 16:01

@xreadytoglow it went really well thank you

Baby measuring 12 weeks and good heartbeat. Was moving around a lot ahha. Just heading back from London now.
I have the NHS scan in 2 weeks so I really wanted to do this scan before I see my family for Easter 🐣

I hope yours goes well, sending you calm energy 🥰

bajanbump · 12/04/2022 16:08

@Justawannabemam wow triplets thats amazing congratulations !!!

My test was at 4+5 (two weeks after the transfer) so thats why it might be higher if yours was done at 4 weeks

Tbh I am hoping its twins but I don't think my partner was conscious it was a real possibility (i think he convinced himself we were just increasing the chances of one 🤣🤣) so I could see the OMG worried face when i told him the results. But if both decided to stay with us he will process it and be excited as well. It will just take him a bit more 🤣🤣

Harmony test is a non invasive genetic testing, basically they just take ur blood to measure the risks and tell u the sex of the baby. Can be done at 10 weeks, unfortunately i just googles and it cant be done for triplets :(

When is your due date?

Overlyanxious · 12/04/2022 17:14

@JMC91 congratulations on your scan - you must feel so relieved

Justawannabemam · 12/04/2022 17:19

Yes mine was done 2 weeks after transfer x

My first fue date was 2nd Nov. Then 28th October we will get a definite date next week.

Ahh thats why I've not heard of it. Twins will be amazing. Lots of woman I follow on Instagram who have twins and trips .x

@JMC91 wonderful news!! Lovely scan photo. Glad it's made you feel better now. Will you be telling your family soon then? How exciting

xreadytoglow · 12/04/2022 18:17

My scan also went really well 🥰

My wife and I went through first to make sure everything was okay and then we invited my parents and my mother-in-law in to watch. They projected the scan on to one of the walls so that we all got to watch. It was absolutely huge across the wall! Amazing! The baby was wriggling around a lot 🤍 waving hands and feet and jumping about. So incredible. Feeling much more reassured. They even did a 4d image, you can see the little prawn (😂) all curled up with the left over yolk sac underneath .. crazy !! My parents and mother-in-law were amazed.

I also learnt that I have an anterior placenta .. booooo. Nevermind as long as everything's healthy I couldn't care less

@JMC91 @xreadytoglow congrats guys! Scans look amazing, love the 4D one too. Really cute. Glad it’s all going well ❤️

Overlyanxious · 12/04/2022 18:43

That's brilliant @xreadytoglow

JMC91 · 12/04/2022 19:02

@xreadytoglow that's great news, such a relief. So nice that your family were there to experience ! X

I also have the anterior placenta

xreadytoglow · 12/04/2022 19:10

Thank you guys!

Aw really @JMC91. My friend had one and said she felt movement around 16 weeks so hopefully it won't impact it too much.

I can't stop staring at the picture with one little arm waving and the other one up by it's face 🥰
