BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans

Hi everyone.

I've started this group for us to chat about our symptoms, scans and any other pregancy related issues after getting a BFP following IVF/IUI/ICSI.

It is by no means to leave anyone out of the previous groups we have been in, where we all offer advice and help during an IVF cycle.

We all know hearing people's positive pregancy news can be heart breaking. I just found on the group that we are talking scans, symptoms, signs and positive tests I'm very conscious that those currently mid cycle may get upset.

We can all still give advice but maybe we could use this group as our pregnancies progress.

I've tagged who I remember from the last group, please feel free to add others as they join us on this next phase of our journey or if I have missed anyone.

@ShareLove Can you get another consultant for a second opinion? Also have you gone on things like Tommy's where they can give advice on recurrent miscarriage. I've heard of Emma/Alice tests that people have to check for immune issues as well as other things. I think if you can find someone to confide in it may help you a lot - how about a friend if family is not possible? Also on age please don't worry - you still have lots of time.

It really is unfair that this keeps happening to you and it is such a shock.

ShareLove · 08/04/2022 22:12

@Overlyanxious I will check tommys thanks and I do have second consultant now for my next review as I have asked for another one xx and belive me I don’t need family to know or friends as I have mumsnet , all you amazing people helping me more than I could ever wish for , you all are my support and you’re all that I need so thank you all lovely amazing woman for being here for me xxxx I don’t know what I’d do without you all Smile ❤️ You all helped me more than you all think xx

Bluehawaii29 · 08/04/2022 22:38

@ShareLove aww bless you ❤️ Yes everyone here has been so supportive and it’s hard to imagine going through it without you guys. I hope you can find some answers soon and I am sure it will happen for you. Don’t lose faith xx

Bluehawaii29 · 10/04/2022 07:05

@2mumlife hi hope you are good. I think you have answered this question before but it was a long time ago and just wanted to ask you again about stopping all the meds at 12 weeks. Am currently on 8mg oestrogen daily and 2x cyclogest pessaries+ 1x Lubion. The clinic is saying stop everything in 4 weeks time. Is this was you did or did you wean off/ how did you do it x

JMC91 · 10/04/2022 08:44

I've just had a few tiny Orange spots in my discharge. So confused. I had it a few weeks ago and that was accompanied by the round ligament pain I was experiencing, no idea if that was related.
Even though the spotting is tiny it still freaks me out.
I'm 11 weeks today, anyone else had this?

Overlyanxious · 10/04/2022 15:39

@JMC91 I haven't had that. As it's only a small amount I wouldn't worry too much but if it was me I would probably check with midwife/GP to give me reassurance.

Justawannabemam · 10/04/2022 16:16

@bluehawaii29 I've been told to stop mine at 12 weeks. I asked about weaning and she said no.

I feel physically sick doing mine. Everytime. 12 weeks cant come quick enough xx

@Justawannabemam thank you, had a check up again today at 8 weeks, little bean is doing very well, 18mm now up from 11mm on weds and heart rate 175bpm, they said fast heart rate apparently can happen more often with a girl? They dated it 8week+2 instead of 8 weeks. next scan at 9week +2 🙏🏽

Bluehawaii29 · 10/04/2022 16:26

Don’t want to focus too much on twin 2 until 9 week scan tells us which way it is going but it also grew some more from 5mm on weds to 11mm today which makes it 7wk+3,-about 6 days behind the other

Justawannabemam · 10/04/2022 16:45

@Bluehawaii29 hope both are well. Iv e got a scan on 20th . Which is 12 weeks. X

@Justawannabemam that’s nice Smile it’s close to my next one too on 19th April. Got my first midwife appt on 20th. Starting to feel more real now x

xreadytoglow · 10/04/2022 18:03

@JMC91 sounds maybe more like a tiny bit of old blood maybe or due to pessaries? Have you had anymore? I'm sure all is well but it's hard not to worry.

@Bluehawaii29 that's great news. Growing very well it seems 😊 is it starting to feel real yet?

I'm on the countdown to my next scan... only 2 more days. I haven't seen little Olive (our nickname) for 2 weeks so I can feel that anxiety creeping in.

2mumlife · 10/04/2022 18:31

@ShareLove Hope you have managed to take some time for yourself this weekend. I had a chemical pregnancy last June and tried to consol myself that the embryo just wasn't viable. Obviously with your repeated losses though there might be something else going on. There are lots of you can try - have a look at the ERA/EMMA/ALICE thread on the fertility forum. Also you can get tested for NK cells for instance. You could consider getting your embryos PGA tested to check whether its a problem with the genetic makeup of the embryos or not. There is a woman called something like "Gardenlady" on the fertility threads who knows a lot about this kind of stuff so worth tracking her down for information.

@Bluehawaii29 Thats great both embryos are still looking well :) In terms of drug reduction, my clinic gave me instructions for a weaning off plan - I was on 4 estradiol tablets and 3 utrogestan suppositries a day. The weaning off plan started at 11 weeks and started by reducing to 2 estradiol / 2 utrogestan a day, then 1 of each a day, then alternative 1 day with drugs, 1 day no drugs. Finished up all the drugs end of Week 12. Most places though you just stop. Never heard of anyone having a problem coming off the drug support.

Bluehawaii29 · 10/04/2022 19:26

@xreadytoglow thank you, yeah we feel proud of the little one always showing up like a shining light, we were deciding on a name for fun just to feel more connected rather than calling it twin 1. Just don’t like the idea of that if twin 2 doesn’t make it then it’s a constant reminder whereas we should be celebrating the one baby doing well. I can imagine it must be nerve racking. I was getting so nervous just before scan today even though just had it 4 days ago! I feel a little bit of an anticlimax now after all my scans having been quite close together since 6 week and going to find it hard to pass the time till next tues. Trying to make some plans for the Easter weekend to make time go a bit faster and for my own sanity. Have you got any plans?x
@2mumlife thanks for your advice, yes my clinic just stops it all at 12 weeks. I guess I just have to trust it’ll be ok and they know best. 4 weeks left till that day🤞X

ShareLove · 10/04/2022 19:27

@2mumlife
Hey I am feeling a little better now ! I let my emotions out so feel a bit lighter now ! I went back to work today and it feels horrible to know im not pregnant anymore and waiting to misscarrige any day now !
Sad
I can’t wait to book with my ivf clinic to have consultation and I have new plan in my head to ask to try . Nk cells - steroids . Without having to test for it , I’m gonna beg for the steroids as i feel like my body is rejecting every single pregnancy and steroids won’t let my body reject it ! 6 in a row is not normal .
I won’t go ahead with new ivf cycle until I get the steroids whether it’s my consultant giving me it or I go private for it .
Obv the blood thinners or progesterone didn’t help as I still lost it . My body is a joke !
Well I did ask for the steroid before my last ivf cycle and he said no , try blood thinners , but now that I lost one again , maybe he will give it to me now . I think all the blood thinners did was give me hematoma ! ☹️ Thank for checking up on me , your are all so lovely ! Love to you all xxxxxx ❤️ I do read all of your conversations and I’m so happy for you all but I just don’t feel like taking part in replaying as I don’t feel like I belong in this group anymore ☹️

bajanbump · 11/04/2022 00:10

Hi!

Would it be okey if I joined?

4+3 after 2 blastocyst transfer. Symptoms much worse than my last (natural) pregnancy than ended in mc.

Nipples super sore, super thirsty all the time, need to pee continuously (doesnt bother me that much) and most days super dizzy - not really sick but I think my body instinctively coughs before the nausea comes.

Also.. been having sciatic pain since what I think was 4-5 days after implantation. Both legs (one at a time thankfully lol) so I guess the uterus is really expanding.

Go for bloods on Tuesday and Thursday, I told the clinic I didn't wanna know the value if it was ok.. i know ill over obsess about the value lol

Anyway congrats to everyone and great to meet you all!

2mumlife · 11/04/2022 07:19

@Bluehawaii29 I'm sure it'll be totally fine just stopping as your clinic has instructed at 12 weeks. You could always take a lower dose for a few days after you meant to have stopped if you have any meds remaining

@ShareLove Do you have any frosties? I'd ask your clinic about getting them genetically tested to check they are viable, so you can start ruling things out, as its possible for embryos to be implanting but losing them because they were never viable in the first place (though 6 still sounds a lot for this to be the only explanation). It would at least give you a clear answer as to whether you're producing healthy embryos - its really expensive though (though less expensive than paying for a round of IVF privately). Really hope you get some answers

2mumlife · 11/04/2022 07:21

@bajanbump Tentative congratulations! Good luck for blood tests this week :)

bajanbump · 11/04/2022 08:14

@2mumlife I already got several positive tests, but yes hoping bloods are good as well :)

JMC91 · 11/04/2022 09:00

@bajanbump congratulations and welcome to the group :-)
Hope the sciatica is manageable, I didn't know it could happen this early on.

I've had strong round ligament pain that has eased a little, was much worse a couple of weeks ago, I didn't know it could come this early on either !

JMC91 · 11/04/2022 09:32

I've had some strange discharge for some weeks now, had swab tests and no infection found. Would it be weird I if I put a picture on here , see if any of you have experienced anything similar ?

xreadytoglow · 11/04/2022 10:04

Congratulations @bajanbump welcome 😀

@JMC91 what does the round ligament pain feel like? This is my first pregnancy so I have no idea, but last night I woke up at 2am with quite painful period pain. Just that same aching feeling. Much more painful than any of the cramps I've had before and still today I can feel something like a stitch feeling. I was so so scared last night that I was losing it, but I've had no bleeding or spotting. Such a worrying time 😔

I'd say go ahead with photos but since this is my first pregnancy I'm probably not the best person to advise! But I sympathise with you re the worrying

JMC91 · 11/04/2022 13:00

@xreadytoglow it felt a lot like intense stitch pain and pulling. Was very painful.

I'm not sure if it's supposed to be there one week and not the other, that's what I've experienced.
You know when you worry when a symptom or sensation is not there any longer

JMC91 · 11/04/2022 13:01

@xreadytoglow could it be the progesterone causing pains like that? X

JMC91 · 11/04/2022 13:04

Sorry about the graphic picture. This is my discharge. It's sort of stringy white gloopy
Any ideas anyone?
