Morning sickness vs how much of a vomiter you are when not pregnant.

Hi I always thought I would get bad morning sickness because in everyday life I tend to feel sick quite often. When not pregnant I tend to get nausea / vomit if I have a headache, am in pain, Drink too much alcohol, breathe in too much pollution, have too much milk in my tea! So I assumed my morning sickness would be really bad but I have managed to not feel too bad as long as I keep snacking.

I was wondering what others experiences are. Are you someone who never ever vomits or are you a bit of a sickly person? And how has your morning sickness been for you?

I’m not really a vomiter but with both pregnancies I was sick from about 8 weeks right through until giving birth..lovely lol!

Onaloop · 21/03/2022 23:55

I get bad sea sickness and car sickness (if I'm not driving) and I had bad morning sickness - not enough to go to hospital but I was queasy all day and night from week 6 to week 18 with a few breaks. I had so much trouble sleeping due to the queasiness and would throw up every evenings several times. Brushing my teeth was a nightmare as it always made me throw up! I could also only eat white bread and dairylea for several weeks. My 4 month old is asleep upstairs and it was all worth it!

I very rarely get sick sick but had fairly bad morning sickness with all pregnancies. I didn't actually vom though - mostly just felt horrifically sick.

Forshorttheycallmecomp · 22/03/2022 06:42

I vomited a lot during my first and a reasonable amount during my third pregnancies (they were different sexes). It was not something I did much before, but since that first pregnancy I do find I’m vomity-sick more often.

SoloSunrise · 22/03/2022 06:42

I am very rarely sick normally but I felt ( and was) sick consistently from about 6 - 15 weeks with all my pregnancies. 9 weeks sickness doesn't sound long with 20+ years hindsight, but I felt totally grim at the time

WeNeedSirSamuelVimesOnTheCase · 22/03/2022 06:43

I rarely vomit, and didn't have morning sickness with either pregnancy.

MrsAliceRichards · 22/03/2022 06:44

Very very rarely vomit normally. Had hyperemesis on both pregnancies. Puked enough for a lifetime during them, especially the second one.

Me too

Hospitalised from about weeks 8-16 with hyperemisis (excessive vomiting) both times too.

Traumdeuter · 22/03/2022 07:22

Hardly ever vomit, never vomited in pregnancy and only felt really nauseous once or twice.

IDontDrinkTea · 22/03/2022 07:24

Apart from in pregnancy, the last time I was sick I was 12 years old. When pregnant, I’m sick about five times a day

Nikki037297 · 22/03/2022 07:24

I have a strong stomach but this pregnancy Iv been so sick from 5 weeks!

Lijay1 · 22/03/2022 07:55

I'm a sicky person. Feel sick most days non pregnant. Nothing pregnant! Maybe there is a theory there....!

ChloeHel · 22/03/2022 09:34

I’m a very sicky person in general. In first pregnancy I had morning sickness from 10-23 weeks, currently 12 weeks and have had hyperemesis since 5 weeks.

Dipsydoodlenoodle · 22/03/2022 09:46

Not a vomited usually. During pregnancy I had awful morning sickness, even when giving birth.

HarrietM87 · 22/03/2022 09:47

Big vomited normally.

First pregnancy no morning sickness (boy). Second pregnancy loads of nausea but didn’t actually vomit (girl).

HarrietM87 · 22/03/2022 09:47

*vomiter

TheBirdintheCave · 22/03/2022 09:52

I have an iron stomach and hadn't been sick for ten years before I got pregnant with my son. My nausea, retching and vomitting with him lasted from weeks 7-19. It was horrible.

This pregnancy I just feel a little bit of nausea and retch maybe once a day. I'm expecting to be told I've had an MMC at my next scan though so I don't know if the limited symptoms are because of that or if I was just 'luckier' this time around.

Trinacham · 22/03/2022 09:54

I'm not sick easily. Can't remember the last time I vomited (actually now I think back I think it was when I had a kidney infection in 2019). Had no morning sickness whatsoever (baby is 2 months old now)

Trinacham · 22/03/2022 09:56

I think we are the lucky minority reading through this thread!
Ringmaster27 · 22/03/2022 09:59

Generally speaking the only time I vomit is if I’ve got a sickness bug or if I’m beyond the boundaries of drunk Blush
But with my first pregnancy, I had HG, and spent the whole pregnancy in and out of hospital, in an ocean of vomit Sad
Second and third pregnancies weren’t as bad, but I was still spewing 5+ times a day for the first 13/14 weeks.

Caffeineandcarbs · 22/03/2022 10:03

V. rarely sick when not pregnant (e.g. only with a sick bug every 5-10 years). Slight nausea when pregnant.

kentiapalm · 22/03/2022 15:37

I'm very rarely sick but do get car sickness. My first pregnancy I had all day nausea but was only actually sick a few times. It lasted 3 months and I got so badly travel sick I could hardly walk anywhere without dry retching.

This pregnancy nothing yet but it's very early days.

EgonSpengler2020 · 22/03/2022 15:39

I had HG when pregnant at 36 yo. Prior to this the only time I had vomited since I was an adult was whilst drunk (and I packed that in by my late 20s).

So no link at all.

fairgame84 · 22/03/2022 15:45

I never vomit, never nauseous.
DC1 occasionally sick weeks 10-14.
Currently 10 weeks with DC2 and ive never felt so rough in my life. Constant nausea since 7 weeks. Struggling to eat and drink. Can't stand any smells. Hate all food. Lost 2kg in 2 weeks and trying different anti sickness tablets so I can actually function and return to work at some point.

BobbleWobble1 · 22/03/2022 18:29

I'm a sickly person. Had 2 very well pregnancies and wasn't sick once. Really thought I'd be a nightmare.
