I can only suggest to look after yourself beautifully, try to relax (!) and take your mind off the anxiety......impossible, I know. Each pregnancy can be very different - I had a pregnancy after mc and complications and now have a gorgeous little girl who is almost 1. I had very little sickness, if any, while pregnant, and yes I was very anxious after what had happened, but just took each day at a time and kept fingers crossed. My GP sent me for an early scan - I don't know if that's routine now? - but seeing the baby and a strong heartbeat at 9 weeks helped ease some of the tension.
Congratulations, and lots of luck x

Glad to hear you great news. I have just had a missed miscarriage and had D&C late November. Im ready to start trying again, but feel scared too. Lovely to hear your news. Well Done!

BabyEllsBells · 05/01/2008 22:47

mylovelymonster thankyou, that has made me feel better. yes the gp has said i can go for a early scan but thats what i did last time, had pains on my right side so they sent me for one. thats when they said there was no heartbeat. in a way i just want to wait untill im 12 weeks but half of me says just go.
Devon1 im so sorry you had to go through that i wouldnt wish it on anyone. after my d&c i felt i wanted to try again straight away. didnt even wait for my first cycle. didnt fall pregnant the 1st try but 2nd we did. the gp said there is no increased chance of having another miscarriage if you ttc straight after a miscarriage just hard to pin point a due date or conceived date. im here if you need a chat

Hi - I have been posting about my fears after a missed misscariage here and lots of people gave me useful advice that might also apply to you. Anyway despite feeling completely crazy, having no symptoms and bleeding for the first 2 weeks of the pregnancy there is still a healthy baby growing - so i just dont think you can predict what will happen. I have booked in for regular private scans and this has helped my crazyness. Will be thinking of you - it is such a stressful time x

BabyEllsBells · 06/01/2008 12:51

TY Lcy for this link it has really helped.
i think i will book in for an early scan too. just want everything to be ok

BabyElls congratulations. My first pg ended in m/c and I remember being very worried during my second. I think the concern only disappeared when I was past the point in the pregnancy where I'd lost the first one.

Good luck.

Charls · 13/01/2008 09:58

I had a m/mc in march, I fell successfully again in july and am now 29 weeks, I was really scared for the first 12 weeks and had an early scan as I was bleeding early on, When I went for my 12 week scan I was so overjoyed at seeing my little bud forming, I was still fairly anxious until I felt it move at 15 weeks, and i've been fine ever since, Good Luck x x

BabyEllsBells · 13/01/2008 13:08

I had a missed m/c in Jan 05 and went on to have a gorgeous healthy baby boy in Dec 05.
I was terrified of the same thing happening too. I was so scared when we went for an early scan but the relief I felt when we saw the little beating bean on the screen was fantastic.

Once we had got past the first scan I hired a doppler so if I felt a bit funny I could find the heartbeat myself and know that everything was fine. It was really comforting to me.

Once you see a heatbeat I think the statistics of anything going wrong drop dramatically.

Good luck to you.

BabyEllsBells · 14/01/2008 12:37

chocoholic thankyou for your post
im so scared to go for a scan but i no it has to be done. my friend mentioned about the doppler which i think is a great idea. i just feel really down every little pain the flags go up! i think i will all my midwife and see when they have booked me in for a scan. thanks again

Hiya, i had a MC 2 years ago and spent the following 2 years tryng to conceive.... I finally fell pregnant in Nov this year and instantly was paranoid thinking it was never going to stay there. I found out 4 days after my period was due so very early on. I asked my doctor to refer me for an early scan once id reached 8 weeks as i couldnt bear not knowing if it was even alive still. The day of the scan i was so nervous i could hardly speak and was sick with nerves. I could barely even speak to the consultant before hand as my voice just wouldnt work. Anyway i got in there and low and behold there was a 2cm feotus measuring correct for my dates 8.5 and of course the fluttering of a heartbeat!!! I have just got to 9.1 and have starting to feel a little more confident having seen the scan. Im now trying to look forward to my 12 week scan and trying to believe that everything will be ok. (i mc at 9 weeks before). have a scan its very reassuring. As for symptoms, sore breasts an tiredness are my symptoms too. I have felt nauseous but not been sick. Every pregnancy is different. think positive, send positive vibes to your baby!!xxx

BabyEllsBells · 14/01/2008 15:23

kezza7779 thankyou for your post and im so happy for you!! i found out dec 31st about a day after my period was due so we are in the same boat. i will be 7 weeks on friday. spoke to the hospital today and they said they will not put me forward for a early scan as i have only had 1 MC. this morning i walked past my bedroom mirror and something caught my eye. my tummy looks different not a hell of alot but a little. not as flat as it used to be. so i am all smile today xx

You can always get an early scan if you tell them a bit of a fib and say that you have had a bit of spotting and are really worried.

Alternatively we paid to have a couple more private scans. Can't remember how much they were now but worth every penny for the peace of mind.

BabyEllsBells · 14/01/2008 15:59

have already thought of doing that but i have that horrid thought that i say that and they actually say yep you were right to come in as there is no heartbeat. does anyone no how many weeks you have to be before doctors can detect a heartbeat?

OP posts:
chocoholic · 14/01/2008 16:34

I think it is about 7 weeks.

BabyEllsBells · 14/01/2008 17:34

well im 7 weeks on friday so i might leave it till next week. im just going to take every day as it comes. tomorrow will be around the day my previous pregnancy stopped so thats my first goal post.

Babyellsbells-congrats! I have had six miscarriages since having my daughter in 2003, the last one being a mmc. I am now 17+5 weeks pregnant. I have had scans since 6 weeks where they detected a heartbeat. Normally I never stand still but this time I have taken things easy you need to do the the same. We paid for the first few scans and now I am scanned every six weeks on the nhs. It is well worth having scans it gives you reassurance. Sending you lots of luckx

BabyEllsBells · 14/01/2008 18:06

imopop i cant beleive you had to go through that 6 times! i am seriously thinking of paying for a private scan. just so eager to no

Babyells, i told a fib and laid the stress thing on thick too, i spoke to my GP and said i cant cope with the not knowing, its killing me, i have to know. ive had lower back pain and lower abdominal pain and i just know something is wrong - he referred me straight away. I didnt hear anyhting from the hospital so began calling around all the depts myself, i spoke to a lovely gyneo nurse who said come in in the morning and i will scan u, its nothing to do with your referral but i will see you as my own case..... this is what happened. Im still waiting for referral scan - such a joke!!!!!! You have to push the GP's they dont understand what your going through and you are entitled to reassurance one way or another. Put your foot down and say you NEED peace of mind, tell a few white lies if you have to it will be worth it in the end!!! Godluck and keep us posted!!!xxxx

aliwally · 14/01/2008 19:24

BabyEllsBells - great news that you're pregnant again - but I can say it is one big rollercoaster. I've had 4 m/c's (2 missed and 2 spontaneous) and am 7 weeks preg now. It's not worth telling you not to worry, you WILL worry. Main thing is to enjoy your life when you can, sleep lots, avoid speculating (I can talk!) and let people spoil you a little. I would go for an early scan and you reserve the right if you need reassurance, but try and wait til 7 weeks so you can be sure to see something. Before then then results can sometimes be inconclusive and, as a result, absolute torture to wait. All the best .... I'm with you all the way!

nervousal · 15/01/2008 11:45

I am really lucky here as I don't have to be referred to EPAU by my GP - I can just self refer. Before I had my MC earlier this year I had a referral to EPAU for bleeding. When I contacted them to cancel my appointment because of my mc they told me that next time I was preg just to phone them direct and I could get a scan. So before I had my Drs appointment last week I phoned them and got an appointment within 2 days. Sometimes the NHS does work!

BabyEllsBells · 15/01/2008 15:13

thankyou so much for all your comments has really givent me some hope. aliwally wow 7 weeks! same as me give or take a couple of days. i called the hospital today and they advised me they have to get a referal from the dr before they will see me as its not procedure to have early scans after only one MC. im 7 weeks friday. i have called my dr who is going to call me back but really dont no if i should just go to A&E tonight and just sit there but saying that it is kingston hospital if anyone knows that hospital? i found a very interesting link www.nhs.uk/ServiceDirectories/Pages/Hospital.aspx?id=RAX01&v=3

this just shows how dr sometimes cant be bothered!

BabyEllsBells · 15/01/2008 16:18
