Pink and brown discharge *warning - photo*

Been getting brownish rusty discharge for the last two days which is starting to get more pink. I’m 7+1 and terrified. I have attached a pic. Does this look like anything I should be concerned about? I do have mild cramping, but I’ve had the cramps on and off since I got my BFP. I have a private scan booked for this Saturday so the waiting between now and then is killing me.

I had brown blood heavier than this from around 6-12wks. I had a hematoma or however they’re spelt.

Amber921 · 09/02/2022 12:50

Ah OP I'm so sorry you're going through this. I've had this in both my pregnancies so I know how scary it is.
To be completely honest, it has gone both ways with me. My first pregnancy I had brown spotting, just when I wiped and that all turned out fine and I have a 20 month old now.
Unfortunately, I had a miscarriage last week at 7 weeks which started with pink spotting for a week before it turned to red.
Basically it can be absolutely normal or it could mean something is up.
Maybe just ring the GP and have it checked out. Hopefully they can do a scan to see what's going on.
Fingers crossed for you that it all turns out ok. It really is horrible going through this and the not knowing is the worst part.
Sending hugs

Sorry, just seen l you have a scan booked. Will be good to put your mind at rest. If it gets heavier I would ring GP but hopefully all will be fine on Saturday Smile

Moonshine160 · 09/02/2022 12:55

Thanks both. And thanks @Amber921. I am so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. How are you doing? I have phoned my GP and they won’t refer to to the early pregnancy unit, they’ve said it’s just a case of “wait and see”. I do have a private reassurance scan booked for Saturday and I’ll be going out my mind until then, I’m tempted to book one sooner.

I’m sorry your going through this OP.

I have had this previously, and it was early miscarriages for me but I know lots of people who have had it and everything turned out well.

It really is a “wait and see”, I remember being so angry hearing that, but there really is nothing anyone can do. If you can hold out until Saturday I would, it would be awful for you to go for an earlier scan and it be too early to see anything reassuring like a heartbeat - it may cause you more unnecessary anxiety.

Sending hugs x

I had this with first and was told implantation bleeding but only lasted a few days, did feel a bit achy like pre period. Didn't get it with next two🤞💐

Notwithittoday · 09/02/2022 13:19

I’ve had everything from pink and brown spotting to red bleeding in healthy pregnancies

Suprima · 09/02/2022 13:22

Just go and book one for sooner. You’ll be able to get into today around me. Usually if you phone and explain they can sneak in as it takes 5 minutes.

It could be absolutely normal, it could mean something is up. Best to get it checked if you can’t wait until Saturday xx

Moonshine160 · 09/02/2022 14:17

Thanks everyone for your advice.

The doctor phoned me back who then spoke to our local pregnancy assessment unit who have agreed to see me tomorrow at 9:30, I’m hoping they will scan me. The discharge continues but it’s still ranging from pinkish to yellowy/rusty.

They will scan you tomorrow. I’m glad you’re being seen, keeping everything crossed x

Moonshine160 · 09/02/2022 17:31

Thanks @ElleGB, I will update tomorrow x

wishuponastar1988 · 10/02/2022 06:05

Hope all is ok xx

Hi OP how have you got along today? I just wanted to post to say be persistent with your doctor! You shouldn't be sat at home wondering what is going on, if that doctor won't help ring and ask to speak to another!!!
Really hope you're ok xxx

Moonshine160 · 10/02/2022 20:37

I’ve had the most agonising day.
I went to the scan and all was perfect. Measuring bang on for my dates and there was a strong heartbeat. This was a transvaginal scan which I found a bit sore.
2 hours after the scan I am bleeding bright red blood and quite a lot of it. I’ve had one really small clot. The bleeding has subsided a bit but I’ve got cramps now. I rang EPU again and because I’d only had the scan this morning and everything looked positive they said they wouldn’t see me again and I need to monitor it for two days.
So now I’m in limbo and just don’t know what to do. I think I’m losing the pregnancy when just hours ago I saw a lovely heartbeat.

@Moonshine160 oh OP I am so sorry that you've had such a rollercoaster!
Did you tell them about the pain? Ring again in the morning, you can't be left in discomfort!!!

Mo1911 · 10/02/2022 21:56

I had that only heavier with all three of mine. All well

ElleGB · 10/02/2022 22:44

Try not to panic.

It’s possible that the transvaginal scan has caused the bleeding. Everything down there, including your cervix, is much more swollen and has increased blood flowing to it and they’ve had a bloody good rummage with a big plastic want today!

If your cervix was closed, baby was fine and had a heartbeat this morning everything is likely to be just fine!

Try not to worry, I know it’s easier said than done, but seeing a heartbeat today was great news. Hold on to that.

Notwithittoday · 11/02/2022 13:57

I had a rough transvaginal and never allowed them to do one after that in other pregnancies. Sorry you’re still in limbo

Moonshine160 · 11/02/2022 14:20

@Notwithittoday I’m going for a normal abdominal scan privately tomorrow. I won’t be getting another transvaginal scan again because the amount of blood has terrified me and I found it really uncomfortable and sore too. Did it make you bleed?

OP posts:
ElleGB · 11/02/2022 14:28

The abdominal scans can cause a bit of cramping too, just to prepare you so you don’t worry. They made me feel a bit achy because of the pushing down but it’s normal. Good luck!

Moonshine160 · 11/02/2022 15:08

Thanks @ElleGB
If all is ok tomorrow I’ve come to the conclusion that the bleeding must have been from the cervix, maybe a burst blood vessel. It’s really eased off today and I’m only getting a bit of brown discharge now. Trying to stay hopeful.

OP posts:
ElleGB · 11/02/2022 15:18

I honestly feel like from what you said everything will be fine and you’ll feel reassured tomorrow.

Ceara · 11/02/2022 15:25

So sorry you are going through this. Hoping for good scan news for you tomorrow. If positive stories are in any way helpful, I spotted and bled from week 6 through into the second trimester of my pregnancy, due to a subchorionic haematoma. My baby was born safe and well at term and he's now in junior school. It was a very anxious time and I had a lot of scans, and I too had a red bleed after the first transvaginal one at 6+5. Hopefully yours was just cervical bleeding as the PP said. I will keep fingers crossed for you.
