Bleeding 5 weeks anyone had experience?

Hi i wonder if anyone can helping? I'm around 5 weeks pregnant, found out last week. I've just gone to the loo and there was some pinky discharge/blood when I wiped. I put some loo roll down there as I needed to take my son to bed and when I went back to the loo there was red blood on the loo roll. There's only small amounts of red blood when I'm wiping but I'm worried its a miscarriage. Not sure if I just wait it out and see if it gets worse or if I call the early pregnancy unit? Didn't have any bleeding at all with my first so this is all new to me. Any help would be much appreciated!

@mommyof2girls27 sorry you're going through the same thing, fingers crossed for both of us. How are you doing?

@pippinpuppy Thanks for asking, I'm ok, not had anymore bleeding since Wednesday night so trying to keep positive and hoping when I take the test on Thursday all is well and they can get me in for a scan ASAP for a bit of reassurance!

Oh gosh - the wait is just horrendous. Every minute feels like an eternity when your waiting for reassurance. I have had a chemical pregnancy, a early miscarriage and now 2 babies. With my chemical I tested faint positive and started to spot. I tested again and was negative and had a really heavy period just a couple of days after I would have been due. I then had my little girl. After this I had a miscarriage at 6.5 weeks - I was spotting on and off for almost 2 weeks. Had a scan and bloods and confirmed miscarriage. This time with my little boy I spotted blood again around 5/6 weeks so again went for a scan expecting the same thing to have happened and baby was there - heartbeat and all. I was convinced it was another miscarriage because of the bleeding. So it's gone both ways for me. I really wish you all the best and hope time goes quickly for you. Such a nerve wracking time !

I had some light bleeding at 5 weeks and was told it’s too early for them to do anything so wait and see basically.
I’m now 37 weeks.

Try to rest, hope it all goes ok.

FreckledMouse · 05/02/2022 23:17

I'm currently 5+2 and have had some light red bleeding / spotting on and off for two days.
Before that a little pink spotting.
I am off the the EPU on Monday for bloods (and hopefully a scan !)
I think I might have SCH as the bleeding started when I was stood up at a gig for 3 hours and then DTD and started again when I went for a walk.

Fingers crossed for you all

Mommyof2girls27 · 05/02/2022 23:38

@UnspeakableBode I ended up miscarrying 😭 my hcg levels dropped to 921

milliemd · 07/02/2022 21:09

Hey everyone, thought I'd just post in here as I'm not really sure what to do.
5+3 today and started bleeding around 4pm, if I didn't know I was pregnant I'd of thought it was a period.
I rang EPU but they won't see me so I rang my GP who was lovely and she's booked me in for a scan next Monday.
Feeling sick with anxiety and think this is going to be the longest week of my life.
Hope you're all ok.

UnspeakableBode · 07/02/2022 22:17

@mommyof2girls27 I'm so sorry to hear that, sending hugs!

@milliemd sorry your going through this, fingers crossed all is ok, from my extensive googling I have found there are a lot of reasons for bleeding in pregnancy and most are nothing to panic about. I've booked myself in for a private scan on Saturday as I don't know when the NHS will get me in, I'm going away on Wednesday and my husband can't come mid week (didn't want to get bad news alone) I should be 6+6 then so hoping they'll be able to see something. So pleased your GP has been helpful and booked you in for a scan. Fingers crossed for you!

@UnspeakableBode thank you lovely - hope all goes well for you🤞🏼

milliemd · 09/02/2022 17:11

Still bleeding but it's getting lighter now.
They have managed to get me in for a scan on Friday now so I won't have to wait for the weekend.
I have done a test today and it's still positive quite strong but don't know if that means anything🤷🏻‍♀️
Guess we'll see on Friday🤞🏼

Hello,
I have just joined Mumsnet so a late response. I just wanted to say that I had a heavy bleed with second pregnancy at 6 weeks and an early scan showed it was likely twins with one surviving. I went on to bleed every day for the entire duration of the pregnancy. A couple of these were heavy and necessitated hospital visits for rest. I went on to have a lovely girl at 39 weeks and 5 days. The midwives thought that there was a week vessel on the placenta and this might have caused the bleeding. Anyway, I understand and remember the worry everytime I saw blood and not really being able to enjoy the pregnancy but things worked out in the end. Good luck!!

FreckledMouse · 09/02/2022 17:38

My bleeding got much heavier over the weekend &
I unfortunately have miscarried - was confirmed on Monday at EPU.
Still bleeding and in pain now but hopefully be over soon.

On to Cycle 10 ♥️

Sending luck, love and baby dust to everyone ✨

milliemd · 09/02/2022 22:20

Hey @Borderlady2 thank you for replying & very reassuring to hear.
Although I'm very sorry you lost one of the twins I'm glad you went on to have a healthy baby

milliemd · 09/02/2022 22:21

Hey @FreckledMouse so so sorry to hear.
Everything crossed for you for the future xxx

milliemd · 11/02/2022 18:13

So I've just been for a private scan today and they have said 'pregnancy of unknown location' as they couldn't see anything.

There's 3 things it could be

  1. too early to see anything - all dates me at 6 weeks today but I couldn't ovulated later on
  2. miscarriage
  3. eptopic

I have another scan on Monday at the hospital where I'm sure they'll take bloods etc - I am still testing strong positive on pregnancy test.

Just wish I had an answer!

milliemd · 11/02/2022 21:25

*app dates me at 6 weeks but I could've ovulated later

Chichimcgee · 12/02/2022 00:18

@milliemd

Was it an internal scan?
At 6 and 7 weeks I had bleeding and the hospital wouldn’t scan me as they wouldn’t be able to see anything. My previous pregnancy at 8 weeks 3 days was internal scanned as external couldn’t see anything so fingers crossed your little bean just has some growing to do

milliemd · 12/02/2022 06:58

@Chichimcgee yes it was internal.
Wow that's reassuring to hear🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
Thank you for sharing

Hi All new hear, I am currently around 5w3d, first pregnancy. Last night I had faint pink on toilet paper and then since this morning I have had bleeding like a period every time I go to the toilet, with some clotting. I have read so much about this happening and people still going on to have successfull pregnancies. Just wanted some insight off you. I also haven't had any cramp atall today, although I had pms like cramping throughout the week, nothing too bad. Any thoughts appreciated. X

UnspeakableBode · 12/02/2022 22:14

@morag202287 I had an early scan today after the bleeding and while they couldn't give me an explanation for the bleeding they were able to see the heartbeat and measured me at 6 +2. I thought I was 6+6 but she did say it can be wrong by 5 days either way at this stage. I would recommend getting an early scan if possible as it really reassured me. I think waiting until 12 weeks would have been unbearable! Have you tried calling the EPU?

OP posts:
Chichimcgee · 12/02/2022 22:15

@Morag202287 I’m so sorry but that sounds like an early miscarriage to me Flowers

FreckledMouse · 12/02/2022 22:43

@Morag202287 I'm sorry to say but I had a miscarriage last weekend and this sounds really similar to what happened to me.
I'd got to your EPU as soon as you can for bloods.

Morag202287 · 13/02/2022 09:14

Thanks for your response, yes I am going to give them a call again tomorrow. I already called epu yesterday when it started and she said just to monitor. I know of people this has happened to and they have still carried on with healthy pregnancy so I suppose it's not every case that's a loss but obviously in my head I'm thinking I have. I'll call tomorrow incase they need to check aswell atleast then I'll know for definite xxx
