I've definitely missed people, but hoping I've got everyone who's been active recently. Apologies if not!

@CurbsideProphet Congratulations on the 12 week scan! That's fancy she was able to tip the bed - I just had to lie on side, wiggle hips, do start jumps lol to try to get baby to move (it didn't - its always in an awkward position at every scan!). I think its a lovely idea to get a little something everytime you hit a milestone - its certainly how I've been doing things anyway! I think it helps make it real, as I feel I keep needing to reaffirm its actually happening myself. And glad the french fries worked :)

CurbsideProphet · 08/04/2022 18:54

Thank you @2mumlife 🙂 I did have a laugh then at the thought of doing star jumps to shift baby round 😀 Yes the bed was one of those remote control ones that goes up / down etc. At one point I was on my side with my head right down and legs up. Very glamorous!

Holskey · 09/04/2022 19:22

@2mumlife
you don't have too much longer to go though right?
Longer than I'd like - I was diagnosed at 26 weeks. I'm 28 weeks now. How much longer I have left depends on how bad this remains/becomes. 35 weeks at the latest barring some miraculous and sustained change. Potentially sooner ☹️
I'm glad your cervix check went well 🙂 That must be a relief.

@Begoniagal7
Are you quite itchy and uncomfortable?
Yes! The itch is awful and really affects sleep. It's the worry of my bile acids attacking my baby that's the worst though.
Congratulations on your 12 week scan! 🥳Good luck on your NIPT.

Good luck with your scan @womaninkent

Congrats on your scan @CurbsideProphet. I hope your anxiety eases a bit now ❤️

@Holskey that sounds really tough. You are doing an amazing job.

Lovely to hear everyone's progress. We are 36 weeks now, not long to go.

TheSnufflet · 10/04/2022 11:25

@Holskey oh gosh you poor thing. Are they saying they'll induce earlier because of the GD or the obstetric cholestasis? I've just been referred to have the OGTT as they've picked up mild polyhydramnios in my girl twin at the 24 week scan - the consultant says she's not too worried as everything else is on track but it can be caused by GD Sad can yours be controlled by diet or do you have to take insulin?

MrsC2018 · 10/04/2022 17:26

Hey Ladies, just leaving the thread. Unfortunately my little boy was born sleeping at 16 weeks last week. Don't know why, but hopefully the hospital will be able to give us some answers. I need some space from mumsnet for a while, although I recognise that I've not been an avid poster due to my nerves anyway. Best of luck to you all on your journeys ♥️

CurbsideProphet · 10/04/2022 18:03

So sorry MrsC2018 xx

2mumlife · 10/04/2022 18:05

@Holskey I don't realy know anything about obstetric cholestasis but doesn't sound pleasant from a google search :( I'm sorry your third trimester is going to be a bit miserable. Is there anything they can do to help the itching?

@TheSnufflet That's interesting its only 1 of the twins with the polyhydramnios. Hopefully its nothing to worry about x

MrsC2018 I don't want to @ you at this difficult time, but sending you strength. Can't imagine what you must be going through FlowersFlowers

Begoniagal7 · 10/04/2022 22:13

Mrsc2018, Flowers I’m so sorry, there aren’t words to express. I hope you have good support around you.

@Holskey, that’s so early for cholestasis, I’m sorry you’ve had so much thrown at you! Will you be induced early?

@TheSnufflet good luck with your diabetes screen and hope twin girl is alright. Reassuring that consultant isn’t worried.

I’m 13 weeks today, felt like utter shit today, exhausted and nauseous the whole day, in a way I haven’t been since 7 or so weeks. Hoping this starts to lift soon as I’m feeling useless at home these days, especially as a mummy to my 3 year-old. Fingers crossed the NIPT result is alright and hope that it comes sharpish.

Sending good thoughts to everyone xx

Holskey · 10/04/2022 23:43

@MrsC2018 I'm so very sorry to hear about your little boy. Such a tragic loss. I can't imagine what you're going through, and after such a journey too. I hope you get answers. Sending love to you and your family xx

@SerendipitySunshine thank you ❤️ 36 weeks! Not long at all 💕

@TheSnufflet I'll be induced early because of the obstetric cholestasis. I don't know how severe my GD is yet - I haven't had my appointment to pick up the finger prick test thing yet so I can monitor it - but it was diet-controlled in my first pregnancy so I'm hoping it'll be the same.
Try not to panic, I know it's easier said than done because we worry about everything! Is it common to only affect one twin?

@2mumlife nothing helps the itching except cold water. As a cruel joke, it's commonly worst at night when trying to sleep.

@Begoniagal7 barring a miraculous turn around, I'll be induced no later than 35 weeks. Potentially earlier depending on how my bile acids levels go.
Sorry to hear you're feeling like shit, and I feel your pain trying to be a decent mum whilst feeling like that. Feel so guilty for my 21-month-old. I'm too tired and have too much pgp to be the mum he deserves. I hope you feel better soon 💐

Mrsc2018 I'm so sorry to hear this.

womaninkent · 11/04/2022 08:44

@Begoniagal7 and @Holskey I feel terrible for my 2.5 year old. The exhaustion and nausea makes it so hard to be a parent to a toddler and I feel so guilty.

JAR1981 · 11/04/2022 09:42

Morning ladies. I’ve had a quiet couple of weeks on here due to crazy busy work and trying to finally get ready for the baby so just been catching up.

MrsC2018 so sorry to read your news, sending lots of love and strength for the days and weeks ahead. Hope you have lots of support around you.

Sorry also to read of everyone’s midwife issues, anxiety, sickness, GD, heartburn and OC diagnosis. Pregnancy is not easy!

I’m currently in the middle of my GTT after baby has shown to have grown outside of my upper limit on my growth chart between 28 and 32 weeks. Very anxious about the result and if it is positive then it will be 33 weeks by the time i start to get on any kind of monitoring/treatment plan and may have already caused baby problems

CurbsideProphet · 11/04/2022 09:45

I've got a huge respect for those of you going through the sickness etc with many more responsibilities than me. Hopefully you all have the village around to support you 💐

Some days and nights feel completely relentless so I have to regularly remind myself the nausea and sickness is not forever. It will end. Hopefully soon now I'm nearly 3 weeks 😬

CurbsideProphet · 11/04/2022 09:53

@JAR1981 I've cross posted with you then. I really hope your results come back quickly 💐

LemonyT · 11/04/2022 10:13

MrsC2018- I’m so sorry to hear this. I wish you all the best and hope you get some answers for this tragedy Flowersxxx

@Holskey I have GD and am diet controlling it so far. I went over by having half a bowl of plain porridge the other day!! and last night I had two rice paper wraps with veggies and prawns- which also took me over my glucose level limit! This is a nightmare!
I found a great group and website though: www.gestationaldiabetes.co.uk/
I’m hoping having GD doesn’t necessarily mean I need to induce Sad

@JAR1981 hope it’s negative for you.

@Begoniagal7 @womaninkent sorry to hear how sick you feel. Hope it lets up soon

2mumlife · 11/04/2022 10:57

@JAR1981 Hoping it isnt GD and baby's just had a growth spurt

@LemonyT Oh my goodness, I wouldn't have believed the yogurt or rice paper wraps would have done that! Sounds miserable

LemonyT · 11/04/2022 13:33

@RiverRiot yeah I started gaining a little more weight but then the GD diagnosis and the new diet means my weights plummeted again. So at 29 weeks I’ve only gained 4.5 kilos total. I’m waiting for a growth scan tomorrow (first since my 20 week scan!) so if all ok I’m not going to stress about it! I just hope baby is normal sized! Not too small, not too big!

LemonyT · 11/04/2022 13:34

@2mumlife yeah really annoyed I can’t just eat what I want in my last trimester Sad I have a wedding on Thurs too! So have to be real careful when all I want to do is stuff my face with cake!

Holskey · 11/04/2022 19:23

@womaninkent it's not something I even though about before getting pregnant but the guilt is real! I'm just trying to remember that they'll be able to play together and it's in my toddler's best interests. Hope you feel better soon.

@JAR1981 my first baby wasn't born with any issues as a result of GD. I think the overwhelming majority are just fine, but it's so hard to think we might compromise them in some way isn't it. Let us know how you get on.

@CurbsideProphet it can really feel like you'll always be nauseous. For such a long time I couldn't even imagine not feeling sick. I hope you feel better soon.

@LemonyT I don't think GD is a reason to induce in itself according to guidelines (or so I've learnt from a Facebook group) but midwives/consultants do sometimes encourage induction. If it's well managed, no other complications, and baby isn't measuring very large then I'd decline to be induced in those circumstances.
Sorry to hear you've gone over the limit with foods so seemingly innocuous. It is very frustrating to have to be so careful with food and to still go over.
Good luck with your growth scan. I had one last week after my obstetric cholestasis diagnosis and all was measuring right so fingers crossed that remains the case.

womaninkent · 11/04/2022 20:01

Thanks @Holskey. I do know how lucky I am. I hope you're doing ok and the itching isn't too bad.

SerendipitySunshine · 13/04/2022 20:13

Sending lots of love @MrsC2018

JAR1981 · 13/04/2022 22:25

Thanks ladies. Unfortunately my result was positive so I’m joining you on the GD train. Picked up my monitor today, hope I get used to using it the instructions are a bit complex for my pregnancy brain!

@LemonyT how did your growth scan go? Sorry to hear the innocuous foods are spiking your levels. Hope you enjoy the wedding tomorrow and watching everyone eating the cake (not to mention drinking the champagne!) isn’t too depressing! I’m doing a full day cookery school at Daylesford on Friday which was an Xmas present and I’d been really looking forward to. Sadly I now think it will be less fun making hot cross buns and other easter treats only to watch others eat them! Already can’t take advantage of the free flowing drinks through the course. Ugh! It will be worth it in the end :)

Hope everyone else’s sickness, OC etc isn’t causing too much discomfort.

2mumlife · 14/04/2022 07:17

@JAR1981 Urgh sorry you've got GD. Hopefully some of the other ladies can give you advice.

Yesterday and this morning I'm convinced I've felt where in bump fetus is hanging out, as had a solid lump in part of bump when I've woken up thats gone once I'm up and moving. Feels really nice as I'm still not feeling movements at 19 weeks, but at least makes me feel more like there really is something in there!
