Didn't quite realise we were so close to the end of the second one. Blush So let's have another one! Grin I'll post the due date list in a moment.

@Dyra thanks for the heads up re: pillow. I've been to-ing and fro-ing and you made me decide! I'll get one ready with a pillow cover that they won't confuse with their own. Already lost a really expensive one when I brought a pillow in for someone who'd had an accident a few years ago. They didn't have ANY pillows spare for him, let alone one that was flat as a pancake!!

Dyra · 15/02/2022 17:26

No problem. Grin I was in for a 6 nights antenatal. Then another night for induction, then 2 nights post natal. My own pillow was a true godsend. I lasted one night on the hospital pillows before I explained to DH in very clear, plain English just what would happen to him if he turned up that evening without my pillow. I slept much better after that. Definitely make sure it's in a pillow case that isn't plain white. It will get lost.

@Dyra 😂😂😂 brilliant!!

bubblepond · 16/02/2022 19:41
@bubblepond. No experience of GD but I’m glad that you are keeping well given that you’ve had Covid. Have they given you a date for your induction? My little one is breech so I need to have a scan in 2/3 weeks to see if she has moved naturally. If not then they could try an ECV but I’ve been told that it’s only 50% successful so may need to prepare myself for a c section (which I don’t really want!).

Is anyone having difficulty in choosing a name? I’m getting super stressed as a name that I really love is far too similar to the name of my DD so need to rule it out. I’ve got 3 or 4 other possibilities but not sure if I love any of them at the minute.
Ahh I hope the ECV works for you or baby turns by themselves! The date for induction is 19th May. It's coming round super fast!

@Derbee sorry to hear you also have GD, glad it is diet controlled though! Hope your numbers stay ok! Unfortunately it's my fasting numbers that were the main problem so I had to go on metformin. At my trust the policy is basically to induce everyone with GD at 38 weeks if medicated. I'm ok with that but obviously would prefer to go into labour spontaneously so once I hit term I'll be trying everything possible to induce labour!

How is everyone getting on with sorting out baby's room? Ours is stacked high with boxes and is a bombsite!

bubblepond · 16/02/2022 19:42
@bubblepond I had GD but was diet controlled only so they were happy to let me go to 40 weeks as my sugars were well controlled and baby not massive on growth scans.
I was booked for induction at 40 weeks (NICE guidance is that outcomes are best for baby if you deliver by 40+ 6 and the induction process itself can sometimes take up to 3 days) but I went into spontaneous labour at 39+ 6 anyway.
If you're needing metformin then they may recommend induction a little earlier.
My top tip is to walk/do housework for 20 mins immediately after eating as much as possible, this really helped keep my sugars down.
And Oppo ice cream!
Ah thank you! At my trust they induce at 38 weeks if medicated which I'm ok with.
I've just discovered Oppo this week and it has been an absolute life changer! I melt some peanut butter in the bottom of the bowl first then add ice cream on top! Can't believe it's low carb!

Dyra · 16/02/2022 20:09

That sounds absolutely delicious! 🤤

Gosh. 19th March. So 4 weeks on Saturday..... Extraordinary that we're going to see babies in so short a time. I keep nosing in the February thread and realising this is going to be us before too long... Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

We don't have a nursery, as DD is still using it. The likelihood is in 6 months+ we'll move baby into DD's cot and DD into a single bed and they'll share the room. Eventually we'll have to move, but even if they turn out to be opposite sexes, they should be ok sharing for a few years at least. Otherwise, everything baby related is scattered around my house. Car seat, soft toys, nappies, breast pads, and blankets are in my bedroom. Moses basket in the airing cupboard. Pram bassinet (+ rest of pram currently set up for DD) and baby carrier under the stairs. Breast pump stuff, clothes, hard toys, sleep bags, and muslins in DD's room. Bouncer in home office. Moses basket sheets are officially MIA, so another thing to have to buy. hyperventilates

@bubblepond our room is doing not too bad! Few things still to do and to move but it's coming together! Just relaxing knowing she won't be in there for a while yet.

Our babybox was due to be delivered today, was so excited things feeling very real now but the courier delivering doesn't give an option to leave in a safe space so its away back to the depot 😭 will try and leave a note tomorrow for them if it doesn't blow away in the storm 🙏

Ame05 · 16/02/2022 22:38

I m 30 weeks pregnant with my baby nr 6😍

bubblybrit · 17/02/2022 03:05

Not long at all @bubblepond. My due date is one of the later ones - 31st March - so will be lovely to see some babies appear before then. Mind you if she doesn’t turn then I’ll be booked for a section and would imagine that the date will be brought forward!

My DD is currently in the nursery so our spare room is a bomb site with all the baby bits! Once baby is old enough then she will move into nursery and DD will move into spare room (although it will need decorating at that point as god forbid if it isn’t painted pink!)

MiracleBaby2022 · 17/02/2022 08:03

No spare bedroom here at all, as I converted a two double bedroom loft into one open plan loft space with a small bathroom. Due to my fertility issues and my (old) age I never in a million years expected to suddenly need a nursery here! But the room is quite big so I've created a really sweet nursery 'corner' at the other end of the loft. It'll obviously just have to be temporary, but I think we'll manage fine until we find the sort of house we're after. Baby will just have to be in the same space until that happens. Everything else is scattered round the place. Pram and car seat are currently in the living room!

Nettletea0 · 17/02/2022 08:24

Anyone else getting loads of braxton hicks??

I'm due in 2 weeks and they're driving me nuts now as uncomfortable. They started early in second trimester, never had them in previous pregnancies 🙄 I always go over by 10 or so days so the idea of this for 4 more weeks is 😱😡

bubblybrit · 17/02/2022 09:41

Yes I’m also getting frequent Braxton Hicks which are making me super uncomfortable. Especially at night when I’m desperate to sleep 😴 I’ve got another 6 weeks left as well 😢!

Dyra · 17/02/2022 09:44

@Nettletea0 I am. I think it's very representative of how I've felt this pregnancy. First pregnancy was lovely and the very few BH I had were mere gentle tightenings. This time I'm achey and generally miserable. The BH started much earlier, are so much stronger, triggered far more easily, and occasionally painful. Even my uterus wants it to be over it seems. 34+4 today. I was induced early with DD, so no idea when/if I'll go naturally. The thought of up to 7 more weeks seems an eternity.

Nettletea0 · 17/02/2022 12:17

@bubblybrit @Dyra Oh glad it's not just me!!
It's frustrating as i truly believe baby won't arrive until 41 weeks plus, like me last 2 so bh are just annoying rather than exciting 😁

BostonFern · 17/02/2022 13:08

@bubblepond we haven’t got a nursery yet either, waiting for an extension to the house. So at the moment most of the baby’s stuff is in our room, a little in the living room too. We didn’t really use our son’s nursery until he was 6 months old, but it was useful to have space for nappies etc!

I’m 37+3 now, second guessing every twinge! Colostrum harvesting has gone ok the last few nights, feeling reassured we have a back up source of colostrum incase we have similar feeding issues we experienced when my son was born. Still loosing mucus plug, gross and a little exciting!

Mon2468 · 17/02/2022 14:52

Hi, can I join 😬 I'm due 5th March - first baby, getting nervous now .. excited at same time 😅

MiracleBaby2022 · 17/02/2022 15:14

Is everyone doing colostrum harvesting or is this just for women with GD? Just curious really and wondering if I should do the same just in case of feeding issues? (I don't have GD)

onedream · 17/02/2022 15:36

@MiracleBaby2022
I will be collecting starting from 37w, my kit arrived today. I don't have GD but want to bf just like last time and I remember my little boy was very sleepy the first day or two and wouldn't latch at all or not for long, he just wasn't interested in feeding at all the first day or two so I want to collect some now and have it ready, last time the midwife was trying to awkwardly help to get some out of my boob into the syringe so I thought I will be more prepared this time and just have them ready in hospital if needed.

MiracleBaby2022 · 17/02/2022 16:22

@onedream thank you, I think that sounds very sensible. Where do you order your kit from?

BostonFern · 17/02/2022 16:46

@MiracleBaby2022 I don’t have GD, but I’m harvesting as I know I will be having an epidural due to a health condition and baby may be a bit sleepy when born. I did it for my son’s birth, and it was very useful as he couldn’t latch due to an awkward forceps delivery, the colostrum I took to the hospital with me gave us peace of mind that he got a good first feed.

onedream · 17/02/2022 17:22

@MiracleBaby2022 my kit is from myexpertmidwife.com and it's £10, there is 5 syringes in this pack plus some info and two pack of Mori cloths, you can also order just the syringes from elsewhere like eBay if you like, they are the 1ml isosaf syringes.

MiracleBaby2022 · 17/02/2022 18:55

@BostonFern @onedream thank you both! Is the one kit enough or do you need more?

onedream · 17/02/2022 19:16

@MiracleBaby2022 I have no idea 😀 this kit has 5 syringes so I will start with that and see how it goes, order more from Amazon/eBay if needed once these are full..

MiracleBaby2022 · 17/02/2022 19:31

@onedream great, thanks!!

BostonFern · 17/02/2022 19:37

@MiracleBaby2022 I’ve used five syringes in three days, so it might not be enough. I’ve never bought them though, my midwife and feeding clinic have supplied them free of charge.
