@Derbee
No she never told me the levels just that it was slightly elevated. What is confusing me is that if i had the test today i wouldnt have had the glucose drink and so it would be ok 🤷‍♀️
She said diabetic midwife may just want me to monitor my bloods for 7 days but wasnt too sure.

Scoaf · 07/03/2022 18:58

@Dyra fingers crossed everything gets moving for you tonight 🤞

MiracleBaby2022 · 07/03/2022 20:03

Best of luck @Dyra

bubblybrit · 08/03/2022 12:11

I’m actually worried that’s what may happen @Dyra. Best of luck to you. How are things progressing? X

Hope your appointment goes well and you don’t need to be admitted @Catconfusion? X

Dyra · 08/03/2022 14:41

Still waiting unfortunately. Had a vaginal check earlier. 2cm, so don't need a second gel, but baby is still riding high (sooo muuuuuchhh heartburn...). All contractions/pains stopped overnight, so while something happened, it wasn't the real deal. Sad They can't break my waters on the ward for fear of cord prolapse/presentation. Needs to be done on delivery suite, which is still chocka block, so can't progress until then.

Hope your appointment went well today @Catconfusion.

@Dyra. Ah how frustrating! Hopefully things start to progress a little quicker for you soon x

bubblepond · 08/03/2022 19:11

I hope things start to progress for you soon @Dyra !

I was admitted to hospital last night with threatened preterm labour (36+2). Was contracting 3 in 10, cervix dilated only to 1cm and lost my mucus plug when they examined me. Contractions had settled by this morning so they've let me come home and just see how things go over the next few days. I thought we might have a baby by the end of the day today by how things were going so was quite disappointed when they stopped!

Catconfusion · 08/03/2022 19:58

Oh no @dyra I hope they get you on the delivery suite soon. How frustrating! Xx

Catconfusion · 08/03/2022 20:00

@bubblepond oh no, how annoying. I hope things start up again for you soon. It sounds like your body is trying to get going with it so it must be ready or nearly ready at least. Fingers crossed for you! Xx

Catconfusion · 08/03/2022 20:07

My appointment went well thanks. Baby is now head down. It must have happened overnight as she was laying right across me before I went to bed. The consultant has said to be vigilant with her position and if she becomes unstable with it again I might need to be admitted. Hopefully now she’s engage a bit (not too much) and stay where she is. My fluid level has gone down a little as well so literally just over a cm into the polyhydramnios range. I’ve still been told it might be an ambulance in if my waters go despite her head being die. Still a prolapse risk but less chance. I mentioned the hiccups. Apparently the extra fluid can make hiccups more observable because baby swallows a bit more fluid. They’ve alerted the neonatal team to be available when I have my section just in case she needs a bit more help with breathing or getting the gunk out of her tummy. I’ve been told if the hiccup episodes increase in length or number of episodes per day to go in for monitoring. Hopefully it’ll be plain sailing now for the next couple of weeks. Xx

Dyra · 08/03/2022 20:52

Still waiting. I popped down to delivery suite earlier (to see my buddies), and I'm (well.. I was at the time) second on the list to be bought down. So I'm hoping it's going to be sometime tonight.

@bubblepond Pesky babies keeping us on our toes! Hoping next time contractions start up for you, it's the real deal and you have your baby.

@Catconfusion What a relief that baby is head down and the polyhydraminos is subsiding slightly. Everything crossed that baby stays there until birth and the fluids go down some more.

Hi everyone!

Just to let you know my little girl was born today. I fell acutely ill and had a harrowing few days in hospital before my condition deteriorated and was sent for an emergency caesarean.

At 37 weeks she was full term (just!) but she's having a few breathing issues, so is currently in SCBU.

She's adorable ❤️

Catconfusion · 09/03/2022 03:41

@MiracleBaby2022 omg I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been very unwell. What a relief baby is ok but how are you? You poor thing. I bet you’re so relieved she’s here and ok. Please keep us posted! Xx

Catconfusion · 09/03/2022 03:44

Thanks @Dyra I hope for good news today. Hopefully all is going quickly and smoothly now.

We’re so relieved baby is in a better position. The fluid going down is a bit of a mystery but good in some respects. They asked lots of questions about whether I was leaking so I’m not sure if it’s good news if not. I read somewhere fluid naturally declines towards the end. Anyway, it’s closer to normal now so can’t be bad. Just to get through the next couple of weeks and not obsess too much about the hiccups as the doctor couldn’t definitely tell me if it’s something worry about or not. Just that I could go for monitoring whenever I like. Xx

onedream · 09/03/2022 06:35

@MiracleBaby2022 congratulations! How are you feeling? Hope you have your little girl next to you soon xx

Dyra · 09/03/2022 07:22

@Catconfusion I'd read that as well. That fluid decreases towards the end of the third trimester too. Unfortunately still waiting. Seems it went mad last night. They were sending women down to labour ward, but just as many came in to replace them.

@MiracleBaby2022 Congratulations on your little girl! So, so sorry that you became ill, and I hope that the delivery of your baby has relieved it, or you're already getting much better. Hope you get to have her by your side before long.

Oh no, sorry to hear you didn’t get there in the night. It surely can’t be long now. I’ll be thinking of you today. Xx

easybreezy586 · 09/03/2022 09:34

@MiracleBaby2022 congratulations, hope you and baby are both doing well!

Scoaf · 09/03/2022 15:29

@Dyra oh no... hope things move along for you shortly 🤞
@miracleBaby2022 Huge congratulations on the arrival of your little girl. I hope you are both doing well.
After my appt yesterday at the diabetes clinic, i have had an appt today with the consultant and we have agreed that i will have a Section 24th March 🙈 its all feeling real now. But i actually feel relieved.
Any advice from anyone who has had a Csection before? Do i need to pack anything different in my bag now? X

Caass45 · 09/03/2022 15:50

@Dyra sorry to hear you are still waiting! Hopefully you have your little one with you soon.

@MiracleBaby2022 congrats on baby girl! Sorry to hear you were so poorly, hope your doing better and hope little one is our of scbu soon.

@Scoaf oh not long good luck!

Really hoping my little one comes a few days early but I know because I want her too she won't 🤣 my other half is starting a new job on the 4th so hoping she's here before then 🤞 she's still really high up though so not coming yet anyways.

Dyra · 09/03/2022 16:42

@Scoaf Oh wow! Not long to wait! I've not had a section, but overly long exposure to this site means I know that:

  • Peppermint tea comes highly recommended to get rid of trapped wind.
  • A dressing gown cord tied to the foot of your bed to assist with sitting up.
  • Large, baby clothes/underwear that won't chafe against your wound.
  • A large sports bottle to keep in easy reach for hydration.

@Caass45 These are very obstinate babies! Hope she comes before the 4th.

Still waiting. Though my plug has been coming away in large chunks.

Large, baby clothes.... Should read large, baggy clothes....

I blame baby brain.

MiracleBaby2022 · 09/03/2022 18:02

Thanks @Cxjai792 @Caass45 @Scoaf @easybreezy586 @Dyra @onedream and @Catconfusion

I'm doing ok now, the whole experience has been a bit harrowing - to say the least 😩 - so to say I'm relieved the nightmare is over is a big understatement. Baby was moved to another NICU hospital last night, but she's doing extremely well apparently so she might get back here before I get moved there (I hope!). It's a bit surreal to be here without my baby, but after being so ill I don't feel too upset about it - I'm just glad we're both ok and soon enough we can start bonding!

The doctors think the illness was caused by the baby squashing my kidneys and the ureter, creating major issues for me but as my condition deteriorated in the end it also caused problems for her and they had no choice but to do an urgent c section.

Now that I've had to have a c section @Scoaf I'd recommend bringing prune juice to get your bowels going and also to soften your stools in general. Some nice supportive c section knickers will come in handy but you probably don't want to use these good knickers until you're home, just the ordinary huge knickers for after a normal birth will be fine while you're in hospital. Definitely need a bottle with a long straw if you don't already have one in your bag, as you don't want to be reaching too far for anything.

Hope you're all doing well and looking forward to hear about the imminent birth of yours soon @Dyra
