Did anyone get pregnant after a year?

Hi everyone
I know I'm not pregnant yet but thought this might be a good place to ask. We are on cycle 14/15 of TTC number 1 at 30. Few initial tests say nothing is wrong but it's still not happening - not even a hint of a BFP. Regular cycles, always get a positive OPK etc etc Are there any reassuring stories out there of anyone who got pregnant without intervention beyond the normal vitamins etc after a year?! TIA x

I fell pregnant on my 18th cycle. I had said to my husband that if we don't fall pregnant this time this month, we need to go to the Dr. I was 27 and my husband 30.

The waiting is so horrible, I hope you get your positive soon

I TTC in my early 30’s after two pregnancies in my 20’s.
After 12 months I went to the GP, who ran bloods and discovered I was hypothyroid. 12 months after taking the tablets I was pregnant.

SusannaQueen · 13/01/2022 07:38

Yes, it took us nearly 4yrs! We had decided that we didn't want to go down the intervention route, if it didn't happen we would be fine.
I've always had irregular periods, and when I do ovulate it is often very close to the end of my period, I didn't realise this for a long time. When I did fall pregnant the midwife insisted my dates couldn't be correctHmm - they were.
We only have one child though, we could have tried harder to conceive a second, but I had horrendous PND and we decided it would be wise to settle at one.

We got pregnant after the 15th month of trying (due in a couple of weeks). We’d had tests done which did show an issue with sperm count and were waiting for our first appointment with the fertility clinic. We did what we could on our side, my husband started taking male conception vitamins and stopped having hot baths. No idea if this helped or just coincidence! Wishing you all of the luck in the world, this can be such a tough journey.

We tried for 2 years, then had an ectopic pregnancy, then fell pregnant with my DS within 3 months of recovering and whilst on the IVF waiting list! Subsequently fell pregnant with my DS2 very easily despite still breastfeeding. Have hope OP Flowers

Juno231 · 13/01/2022 08:37

Nothing wrong with me on paper - I ovulate regularly, no blocked tubes etc. I got pregnant on my 24th cycle. I know other MN ladies that got pregnant at 14, 16 and 18 cycles naturally.

I would however still get the ball rolling for IVF as that can take a long time to get to with unexplained infertility - you can always continue trying in the mean time. That's what we did and I got my bfp the month before IVF was due to start!

tryingforbabyh · 13/01/2022 20:28

Thanks everyone!! I just never thought I'd be in this situation. We've decided to give it 3 more cycles which takes us to 18months and my bday and then reevaluate...I'm hoping it won't be necessary but time will tell!

We tried for two years, in the April we said we weren't going to try as we had a holiday and some events coming up in May and we got our postive early May. The only thing different that month was no tracking or stress or trying and we used Conceive plus

Lou98 · 13/01/2022 21:11

We got pregnant the first time on our 18th month. Unfortunately, that one wasn't meant to be and we had a MC.
We then got pregnant again 6 months later which was 2 years TTC.
We never had tests done as we decided we would wait until the 18 month mark to go, then obviously we got pregnant so never but after losing that one we said we would try again until we hit the 2 year mark and then would go, then again we got pregnant that month naturally!

The only thing I did differently in the months I did conceive was I started taking the MyOva Inositol and we used conceive+ lube.
Obviously I don't know for sure and it could be coincidence but I started taking the MyOva the month before I conceived the first one so I'd done one full cycle and a half on them when I got pregnant. I then stopped taking them and started taking them again a month before I fell pregnant the second time so I would definitely give them a go!

Lou98 · 13/01/2022 21:13

Also to add, the month I did finally pregnant that stuck after 2 years, we only had sex once that full month. My partner was away for work and was due home 2 days before we were going on holiday for my birthday so I didn't really see much point in tracking that month as knew we wouldn't really have a chance. We had sex once the night he got home and that was it until the day I got my positive test 2.5 weeks later! It really does only take the once!

lilymty · 14/01/2022 04:16

It took us 13 years to get pregnant with my daughter. We had lots of fertility tests but everything was fine. We didn't qualify for ivf so after 5 years we gave up trying then at 13 years we finally got caught with a sticky bean. Shes now 9 months old.

SusannaQueen · 14/01/2022 17:36

Thanks everyone!! I just never thought I'd be in this situation.

Its a shock, isn't it? All those years using contraceptives, worrying that one slip up will result in a pregnancy, drummed into us at school that so much as looking at a boy and you'll be in trouble. Then ttc and having lots of unprotected sex without getting pregnant. Kind of ironic.

Fingers crossed it happens for you soon

rathernotshare · 14/01/2022 21:21

Cycle 24 for us! Once I got pregnant we found that I had a huge cyst on one of my ovaries meaning I was only ovulating every other month.

Wildrobin · 15/01/2022 04:06

We had to try for four years for first two pregnancies then over 10 years later when I was 42,just one night when I thought it wasn’t even fertile day was enough .
I hope it goes well OP

Nat6999 · 15/01/2022 04:12

Yes, we didn't use any contraception from getting engaged in 2001, I had 2 miscarriages in 2002 & got pregnant with ds in 2003. We started trying fairly early as I was 35 when we met & was 37 when I got pregnant.

tryingforbabyh · 15/01/2022 15:59

Thanks for your stories!

Ridiculous isn't it - I have spent the past 15 years or so desperately avoiding pregnancy and now it's the opposite!

For me I was last pregnant in 2001, my daughter is now 20. We've been trying since then, so 20 years. I've got pcos and endometriosis so my positive results this week were a real shock to me.

Wildrobin · 16/01/2022 08:16

carebear99 that’s amazing news, congratulations. I really hope it goes well

Thank your so so much. I really hope so too.
Pashazade · 16/01/2022 08:30

Came off my pill April/May. Pregnant Sept/Oct miscarried first. Pregnant again immediately Nov/Dec and had DS following August.
Was 34/35 and was surprised at how quick it was, although DH comes from a fertile family! Good luck.

Pashazade · 16/01/2022 08:32

Sorry just reread the OP properly so my response was the opposite of what you wanted! Sorry. However I can add we had friends who tried for several years and then decided to stop trying and didn't want the stress of ivf. She became pregnant inside six months and went on to have a second with no issues.

Skyla01 · 16/01/2022 09:59

I fell pregnant month 13 of TTC. It really can happen at any time, but I well remember how hard it was at the time to keep the faith. I know people hate hearing this but the cycle I conceived I stopped tracking and tried to forget about it all and it just happened. LO is almost a year old now. If we decide to have another I definitely won't be looking forward to the TTC part, it can be so stressful.

@Juno231 I remember you from a TTC thread many moons ago. So happy to hear your news Smile

Februarymama · 16/01/2022 10:46

We tried for 12 months with my eldest. I know it’s such a short time in comparison with how long some people struggle, but to us it felt like a lifetime. It was a big adjustment going from the mentality of ‘one mistake is all it takes’ to feeling like I needed a hoard of information, tips, tricks and science just to see those 2 lines appear.

We went to the GP on the 12th month, and I found out I was pregnant the day after I received a phone call from the GP to say I hadn’t ovulated that month, and could I come in to discuss next stepsConfused We tried for a further 9 months to conceive our second daughter, and exactly the same thing happened where the month we sought medical help to start preliminary testing I fell pregnant. I’m now expecting number 3 who was entirely unplanned, and a result of a one off accident. Isn’t it funny how life works sometimes?

I hope you get your BFP soonFlowers

BobbleWobble1 · 16/01/2022 12:17

Took 3 years for DS. Fell pregnant naturally while on the IVF waiting list. Now due any day with number 2, no problems conceiving. Hope it's not much longer for you.

headintheproverbial · 16/01/2022 12:23

I did with my second baby. Something over a year and we were starting to get worried (I was 36 by that time). Just happened in the end.
